A name.

Ah, but which should he go with? He had brought none of them with him - he had meant to leave that behind. Silly him for thinking he would never get caught. The demon tried to keep his heart rate under control, the natural feeling of panic deciding it wanted to show up despite his experience. This had always been a thrill ride - lying to the police. But at least in the United States he was at least ninety percent sure they were human.

"Olivia. Olivia Hernandez." The girl's face chirped, the name slipping off his tongue easily. It had been the name of his last face's sister - another excited sibling that he left damage as he left. It was a shame, really, as Scott had actually enjoyed her presence. But she was another part of the game he needed to finish. "Whatever you guys need, though I really don't think this will be.. Eh, necessary? I'm sure it was some mix up."

"Olivia Hernandez," Rafael repeated her name. His hands lost their claws and fur, becoming human hands. He pulled a small device with a touch screen out of his belt and tapped at it a few times.

Then, he would ask her to clarify how her name was spelled. It wouldn't help.

"...Huh." He said. "It looks like you don't officially exist here." The device returned to his belt, and his hands regained their claws and fur. "Or at least you're not in our system. That's a problem. I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to come down to the station with me. We're going to need to sort this out somehow. On the bright side it'll probably save you a lot of headaches in the future."

That last part was a lie. Raphael would have bet his badge that he was not talking to an Olivia Hernandez, and that this would end in 'Olivia' getting into some legal trouble. Either way, this would go a lot easier if he could get 'Olivia' to come peacefully.

'Olivia' seemed to look extremely confused when he asked her to spell her name after multiple attempts. Shouldn't she be in the system? She did say she had a card, so perhaps it was some kind of technical error. When it came down to the fact that they would have to go down towards the station to get this all fixed.

Internally, he damned himself. It was such a basic name - how was it not in the system? Jane Doe and Jane Smith were far too basic so he avoided such variations of it. He would have to make a decision in which when he should drop the charade. What could they get him on? Not breaking and entering - the window was open. Tresspassing? Six months to a year, maybe. Would this count as resisting arrest? They had yet to put him under arrest yet..

"Of course. Whatever you need." The young woman nodded understandingly, "It's probably a technical error, right?"

"That would make sense," he nodded. And he couldn't fully rule it out. It just seemed unlikely - but the longer Olivia went along with him, the more willing he was to believe that she was real.

Eh. They would sort it out.

He led her to his cruiser. She would be sitting in the back, with a barrier between him and her. No handcuffs quite yet. He reassured her that his associate, the other cop who came to check on the call, would watch the house while she was gone. As he started the car, he spoke to her. "So, how long have you been on the island?"

Scott smiled as they walked together, sliding into the backseat. Smoothing down her clothing, she crossed her ankles. They made sure everything was in order, frowning at the sight of the police at 'her home' - make them think she was debating needing to leave a key so they could lock up, or something to that effect.

"Not very long. I can't remember the day now, it feels like I got here just yesterday!" She chuckled and looked out the window. Not a lie. Scott hadn't been there long, and he did forget the day. Perhaps it could help explain the 'flaw' in the system.. But 'Olivia' continued on. "Still looking for a job, but from what I hear it'll be fine. It's fascinating to see all the supernatural out in the open now, instead of just their glamour."

Raphael nodded along with everything Olivia said. The station wasn't too far, and Manta Carlos didn't have much traffic. He made a mental note that she was supposed to be new to the island.

"How'd you end up getting a house like that, already? Did you come in with a lot of money?" Of course she didn't. Raphael had spotted one or two family photos on the walls in that house - and he didn't think Olivia was related to those people.

'Olivia' laughed at the question, shaking her head. "Oh no. God, I wish." She giggled, looking out the window and watching the city. "A family friend took me in. They're letting me stay until I can get onto my own two feet - still looking for a job that can give me a living wave, you know? Plenty of half time jobs but not enough full time jobs you're qualified for."

How far would he take this? Scott hated hated that sister, always too happy and always getting into his business. But if he could let this lie roll on and get off scot-free, then he would take it. If the law was anything similar than that of the states, he could argue his case and charges... Though he had to admit, watching the guy who would likely slap the cuffs on him - he was kinda intimidating. All Scott hoped was that he wouldn't die... It was a hassle.

Raphael shrugged after a while. "Well, can't say I have much experience with the job hunt myself. But there's always the Academy."

They were at the station now. This is when Raphael told his superiors on the side that he thought they might be dealing with a shapeshifting liar who was trying to get away with burglary. Olivia had her fingerprints done and run through a database. They checked her story, they called the family she was supposed to be living with.

Scott's deception didn't hold up. Soon, Raphael had him in an interrogation room with an interrogator. "I'm Detective Hernandez," the interrogator introduced herself. She was a direct descendant of the Quinametzin, standing at just under 8 feet tall. It would quickly become clear why the doorways in the station were so tall.

"My colleague here tells me we have the same last name," she nodded to Raphael, "but I'm not quite sure I believe him. Or you. Nothing you've told us is really adding up. The people you say you live with don't know who you are or why you were in their house. He thinks you should get locked up, and I'm not going to be able to do anything about that if you don't start telling us the truth."

This is so cool, Raphael thought. Maria was letting him participate in this good cop/bad cop bit even though he wasn't a detective yet.

"You wouldn't believe anything that came out of my mouth anyway." 'Olivia' huffed and leaned back into the interrogation chair.

She had made herself rather comfortable in that chair, figuring they would keep her there for a while. Any time they had given her, she preoccupied with nervously bouncing her leg or tapping out the beat to a song stuck in her head from a few hours before. The shape-shifter leaned over, with an almost bored expression on her features.

"This is a stupid prank they're pulling, honestly." She sighed and blew some hair out of her face. "What ridiculous things are you accusing me of here anyway? I haven't taken anything. I saw your other officers look through the rooms and I've seen enough cop shows to know that you guys probably haven't found anything really wrong or missing."

"Well," Raphael chimed in, "the obvious one is attempted burglary. Or, at the very least, breaking and entering. But when you lied to me about who you are, that was obstruction of justice. And that's a felony. Not to mention a dick move."

Hernandez looked back over her shoulder at Raphael.

"No, really. I went out of my way to help you fix what I thought was a real problem, but you were really just making me look like an idiot." In fact, Raphael was getting pats on the back for bringing 'Olivia' in without a fight but he had to put on the appearance of being mad. "This isn't like your American cop shows, Fake Olivia. We're on Manta Carlos. Among other things, that means we don't need to be wasting our time here. You've had your chance to come clean, and we should be locking you up and letting you wait for your trial right now."

Hernandez shrugged. "Another difference from your cop shows is, if you start cooperating with us and telling us the truth, it actually does help you in court. And it still can. Sentencing works differently here. So either you can keep making weak excuses like 'it's just a prank, bro' and I throw you to the wolves, or you can start helping me help you." She had a very intense stare, and it was aimed at Olivia. Raphael was looking at her too, glad that humans so rarely knew how to read his expressions. He looked like he might have been snarling, but he was actually trying not to laugh at Hernandez's excellent werewolf pun.
