Henghai was certain she was trying to protect him now. The realization felt like a knife to his heart. The bittersweet feeling of the spider trying to defend him but continued holding him captive left him unaware of the state his tree was in until it was too late. Now it was useless, and with the girl taking him away from the area, it would have been more trouble than it was worth to try to get the tree free. All the plants around went back to normal, with any sense of them being humanoids and somewhat conscious disappearing. More minions could be made later, but for now, he needed to rest his magic or he would do more harm to himself than good.

Being upside down, constantly moved, and threatened with the possibility of being dropped all factored into Henghai's increasing vertigo. All he wanted was for her to stop moving, even if it was just for a few seconds. That would have given him enough time to spot a small tree to animate and send towards her. Before he did anything rash, he waited for where she would take her. Her fear of his plants could be exploited. Already, an idea was coming to his mind. It was a weak one, but that was to be expected with his dizziness. They were still far out here in the woods, so someone must be nearby. A werewolf in the middle of their hunt, a vampire hanging out in the trees, the Afolabi-Soies, and other forest residents all sounded likely. He could scream out for help and use his plants as a distraction as she fought them off or moved him further out where people would be around. Someone had to be able to hear him, and with the people on the island, it was not improbable that someone would be curious enough to check out the yelling.

Feeling safe, Farea stopped at one of her web platforms spanning over a clearing and set the creature down. She needed to investigate the flora here, and what set them off. Both out of curiosity and for her own protection. Unfortunately, that would mean she wouldn't have the time to study the creature without risking it being malnourished and starved as it could take a while. And she didn't have time to see what it ate.

It would seem that she had to hope the creature would come back during a safer time. Although, she would have to see if this creature would be fine on its own. She could just release it and get onto business, but what if it were to be attacked? It might have been injured too... She'll have to see if it would be alright on its own.

She picked the creature back up and carried it to the edge. She had a firm grip on the creature as she jumped, leaving a line attached to the platform. She slowly descended and landed on the ground where she put the creature back on the ground. She turned around and aimed the spinneret at the creature and sprayed it with a mixture that neutralized the adhesive property of her web before helping it out of the tangled mess, snapping webs where appropriate. Then when he was released she simply stood there as if waiting for something, and taking cautious glances around them.

The creature was free now, but she had to make sure it had a chance of survival first. So she planned to follow the creature some distance away to see if it was adequately capable of movement. But if it was unease with her following, she'd have to follow it at a distance.

At least, Henghai was freed from the sickening sensation of being carried around like a sack. Even better, the spider looked to be settling down. So much so that soon after Henghai began to figure out what she was doing, he was set free, standing awkwardly in front of her in shock. He gave her a curious look, unsure if he was supposed to run away now or if that was too risky of a move.

Running away sounded like the best choice. He had the advantage now, and if worse came to worse, he could bring out his minions again and send out a screech for help. With his agility and flexibility, he moved up the trees quickly, hiding within the leaves easily. Like a true predator, he was stealthy and quiet as he made his way through the woods, trying to get as close to civilization as possible. With the rate he was going, he would not be far off for long. When he got out, he made sure he would speak to someone about his encounter. The authorities would like to know about this. The spider had no way to communicate, leading to this whole misunderstanding. He had to help somehow, even if it made more sense for him to want to attack her or run away as far as possible and forget this whole encounter. If her intent was to hurt him, she failed miserably at it. Henghai needed to know what she was thinking when she took her, and even better, how he got to her home in the first place.

For a few moments, the creature seemed stunned when they were set free. For a moment, Farea wondered what was going on in its mind. But eventually it darted off, up the trees in fascinating speed. She didn't need to follow it now, she felt, seeing that it could scurry away that quickly. It had a fighting chance, and she might have difficulty chasing after it.

She decided that its fate was on its hands now. It could possibly just escape those floral creatures that attempted to consume it, but she couldn't help but be curious of its place in the ecosystem. She didn't see many of its kind wandering around. But if it were an underground species like she guessed before, then there was a good chance that they'd stay below the surface. Maybe in burrows or dens, or even hollowed-out trees.

Looking back to the way she came, she decided to not return just yet, and check later to see if the creatures she webbed were still there and viable for study. It may be too dangers now, so perhaps a grace period of a cycle would be preferable.

Henghai was sure it was a trap, but he made it back to where people roamed the streets with nothing getting in his way. From what he could tell, the spider girl did not leave her area, but she did not get closer either. If only there were some way to get a tracker, find her, tag her with it, then flee with no complications. That just gave her another chance to capture him permanently. For now, all was well. This could be continued later when he was more relaxed and could better think of what to do. Going back home, he imagined how relaxing it would be to get some coffee, take a warm bath, and read a book.
