Private Cats and Shadows

For a moment, Quincy turned his head to Shiro, about to ask about her 'four or five lives left' as if he didn't really know if she mean that seriously or it was some sort of cat joke. He wasn't sure, but he sure looked concerned until she'd said Quincy could protect time. Quincy gave her a small smile at that, relaxing just a bit.

"Honestly, I might pass from having confrontations so we could hold that one off," he said lightly. If he was going to put himself in danger, he honestly would prefer not dragging along his new friends.

Quincy stood in place after the other girl had gone a moment after, looking a bit stunned. Did that girl know he had been following them? Maybe Quincy was reaching but the fact she showed herself and smiled seemed to him that that was the case.

"No... I haven't seen her before either..." he near mumbled, missing Shiro's previous comment. He looked pensive for a second or two, not sure if they should go."I dunno... did that smile look like an invitation or a threat?"

Quincy puffed his cheek. Whether or not Shiro had intended to tap her tail on his face, it did bring Quincy back into a sense of reality. Whoever that was, they probably knew they were being followed and somehow, the idea of being led into dark places he didn't know well suddenly did not sound appealing. Then again, if he was going to be honest, without Shiro he'd have probably ran after that mysterious girl anyway.

The dark expression that was slowly growing on Quincy's face faded quickly as Shiro hopped onto the top of his head, earning her a giggle out of the boy. "You're probably right. Probably won't hear the end of it if it gets to my mom too," he said, turning back.

"So, any suggestions where we'r going?"

"Blood?" Quincy quietly inquired. For any other person, he wouldn't have been heard but Shiro's ears would have picked up Quincy's inquisitive tone. Quincy, as slow as he was probably would have taken longer than a few seconds to realize 'of course, there are blood drinkers on this island.'

Shiro teasing him earned her another flustered blurb out of the boy, stammering before he managed to figure out how to talk again. "Wh- I didn't know it was a girl!" e protested. It wasn't untrue, he had no idea it was a person in the first place, let alone a girl.

"If I'd known-" Quincy paused. For a moment wondering what to continue with that. If he'd known, he'd have still went chasing for them. "I-if I'd known... I'd have probably just asked around so I can talk to them properly," he managed to finish.

Quincy tried to shake the topic aside as they made their way to the cafeteria, the cat girl still resting on his head -- the boy had no qualms to it anyway. "You know you keep saying you'll kick my ass in Mario Kart, you're not even giving me enough credit here," he said with a lighthearted smile.

If it were possible to see someone else's thoughts, Quincy's was a bunch of question marks floating over his head, questioning about the existence of flavored blood (he doesn't know it could be flavored, he's never had vampire friends) and how Shiro seems to be enjoying bopping his head every so often. Was there something on his head? As for Shiro being a vampire, the revelation was already spoiled by mentioning the blood craving.

As he got asked again, he hummed thoughtfully. "I... guess she's kind of cute?" Quincy replied. If he was going to be honest, Quincy wasn't sure because right now, he was just wondering who even was that and was she playing him or something? Maybe he could ask around some other time.

Anyway.

"So are you now?" Quincy playfully taunted, "Purrhaps you might reconsider that statement if I end up winning though."

Quincy seemed distracted with trying to put together the scenario of running into the mystery girl, it almost looked like he wasn't paying Shiro attention even when the cat girl was already swatting at his cheeks. "I feel like she'd ignores us unless we talk to her, but that's just a guess," he said, not even reaction to the naps at his cheeks.

"That being said-" he began, about to refute Shiro's declaration again if she hadn't given him that look. "What- nooo," he whined, squeezing his eyes shut and turning to face the other way. "You can't do this to meee! I'm weak to the big cute cat eyes!"
