Name: Cassandra Emerich
Age: 17
Birthday: April 1
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Category: Student
Class: Highschool
Grade: 12
College Major: Modern Arts and Culture.
Appearance Description: Having lead a sheltered life, Cassandra looks like a fairy tale princess. She’s never worked a day in her life, nor ever truly wanted to. Like a porcelain doll, her skin is white as ivory and never seen a pimple, but her face lightly freckles if exposed to too much sun. Her skin never tans, but it burns easily, so she wears a lot of light fabrics and large hats in the summer to hide her skin from the sun. Her lips are a pleasant shade of pink, with just a touch of sparkly lipgloss to make them shine. Cassandra’s eyes are a beautiful shade of hazel, alternating through different shades of green with the changing light. Her hair is even paler than she is, so very close to white but still clearly blonde, and as soft and smooth as silk. She spends many hours brushing and combing her hair throughout the day, making sure that her delicate locks stay in perfect order.
On a normal day, regardless of how sunny it is outside, Cassandra wears a lot of layers in light, flowy fabrics that won’t cause her to overheat but will still keep her delicate skin hidden from the sun. She often wears elbow length gloves with long sleeve dresses, tights and leggings, tall boots and shawls. She’s never seen without a sunhat with a wide floppy brim to keep sun away from her face.
Personality Description: Cassandra is one of the sweetest cinnamon rolls you could ever find on Manta Carlos. All she ever wants to do is help, even if she’s not quite sure how to - although her inability to recognize the existence of the supernatural most certainly doesn’t help her make friends. When people talk about monsters and demons, she responds with a peppy “they couldn’t be that bad, you should be nicer to them” or a “what a thing to call someone!”. She sees everyone as equal, because there are no powers or statuses in her eyes: just an island full of people, many of which have escaped a horrible society from which she was hidden from for many years.
Cassandra is naive and innocent, knowing perfectly well the darker side of human chatter but refusing to participate in what she considers ‘uncouth slander’ and ‘undue criticism’. She refuses to gossip or tattle, is appalled by bullying and name calling, and has little patience for rude and crass sarcasms. She knows that people can be better, and holds them to these standards - a thief is only a thief if they can’t honestly procure a means of survival in any other fashion, and she would rather feed the not-thief thieves one good meal than see them go to jail for their crimes. Cassandra is convinced the world is a good place, and refuses to give up on it, or any of its people.
Powers: Cassandra has an enchantment like the veil around her, preventing her from seeing anything supernatural. The magic gets stronger in proportion to the number of supernatural beings and unnatural events happening around her. Cassandra has never seen, nor will ever see, anything supernatural. Fur and scales look like normal skin and clothes, speech from sentient animals sounds like typical animal noises, and non-humanoid shapes look and feel like human shapes, or, if they’re too non-human, they will look like gaudy fashion or inanimate objects.
To keep up this false view of the world, the enchantment also protects her from harm by anything magical. Any magic spells, abilities, and even many natural species abilities are absorbed by the enchantment and obscured from her view. Telepathy doesn’t reach her, and those with the ability to see the future can only see blank space where Cassandra is involved.
When shown pictures or videos of the supernatural, it all comes across as special effects and costuming. Cassandra is completely cut out of the supernatural world, with no method of escaping the enchantment without getting hurt.
Cassandra’s enchantment will extend through skin-to-skin contact and temporarily change whoever makes contact into a powerless human being, requiring her to cover all skin that might be touched by accident, with concerns that she might harm someone who's powers keep them alive.
Cassandra is completely unaware of the enchantment upon her, and has no control over it. Her family cares for her as best they can, never letting on that they know of the magic, nor that Manta Carlos is anything other than what it appears to be. They ask everyone who befriends her to also play along with this charade, to avoid causing complications.
Species Abilities: Cassandra should, by theory, be as capable of magic as her father was, however with the enchantment placed upon her they are locked and sealed well out of her reach.
Biography: Once upon a time, many years ago, a wizard built himself a beautiful castle in the countryside of Romania. His wife was with child, and he wanted to hide his new daughter from all that was wrong with the world. Upon this castle he placed a smaller version of the veil that kept his home country, Manta Carlos, safe from the outside. It kept out the many travelers and hid the castle from prying satellites.
In this way, they were kept safe for many years. The family lived secluded and isolated, with no news of the horrible fate looming over the outside world. Cassandra grew up happy and loved, with everything she could ever want.
Cassandra began to beg, as she got closer and closer to her 18th birthday, to witness the outside world first hand. To see the big cities of people like New York and London. Reluctantly, her father agreed after her 17th birthday. He lay an enchantment upon her while she slept, the day before the trip. One that would forever constrain her magic and keep her out of harm's way, by completely blocking out all forms of supernatural. She would be protected, his darling little baby girl, until the day she died. Cassandra would never be a part of the supernatural world, which would no doubt bring nothing but disaster upon her - at the very least, the wizard told himself, all she could find amongst normal human society was heartbreak.
For all of the wizard’s efforts in protecting her from the unnatural, he forgot just how dangerous humans could be. They journeyed to Brazil, to Peru, and many others. They visited the wonders of south america, ending their trip in Venezuela. Cassandra spent the day on a guided tour, while her parents searched the markets for souvenirs to bring home with them. When she returned to their hotel, instead of warm smiles and proud parents, Cassandra was greeted by local police and the concierge, with devastating news.
Cassandra, accompanied by two caskets, was flown to Manta Carlos where her extended family managed funeral arrangements. They had her things from the castle shipped, and arrangements were made for her to stay with her family.
