APPEARANCE
Cassie is on the taller side, about 5’9” and twiggy. Her hair is a deep copper red, eyes a dark brown. She’s pale and has freckles across her cheeks and nose, down her neck, on her shoulders, and spotted all over her arms. Her style is definitely comfort over fashion, and it’s rare that she wears any makeup.
PERSONALITY
Cassie is too sweet for her own good. She wants to see the best in everyone, and she strongly believes that there is still some good left in everyone, even if that might not be the case. Her trusting nature and naivete can get her into trouble, and has before. She’s also curious by nature and loves to explore the world around her, which also might get her into trouble sometimes. She’s constantly putting others before herself. However, if she’s pushed to the edge, if she reaches the end of her extremely long and forgiving rope, she’ll explode in anger. Her fits usually don’t last longer than 10 minutes or so. But after someone pushes her to that point, she’ll hold a grudge against them.
ACTIVE ABILITIES
Botanical Manipulation. Trees, vines, and other plants can be manipulated to grow very quickly under Cassie’s command, nearly instantaneously, and in any direction she chooses, but she must be touching the plant, and they can't grow larger than what's average for that species. The only exception to her touching limitation is when she's in a fit of rage, but it's extremely draining to her, so much so that depending on how much she does, she might pass out on the spot. She can also manipulate them to move on her command, as far as they can reach while rooted, but they must be within 20 feet of her. If her focus splits between more than two plants at a time, her power gets weaker with each plant she adds, becoming useless at six plants. She can grow fruits and vegetables instantly, and she can instantly bloom any flowers that might be produced by the plant. However, she can’t grow plants out of nothing. Seeds or plant matter must exist before she takes control of them.
PASSIVE ABILITIES
Flowery Aura. Plants that can bloom within a 20 foot radius of Cassie are gently nurtured to be healthier and bloom early. If Cassie is in the same spot for at least ten minutes, in contact with the ground through bare feet or sitting, wildflowers might spring up in the grass.
Green Thumb. Cassie is an extraordinary gardener, able to grow even the most fickle of plants. Anything planted by her and tended to by her will thrive, even if on the brink of death. However, she cannot revive dead plants. She is also able to communicate with plants by touching them, which lends to her ability to heal them and identify them.
COMMON MAGIC ITEMS
Nullification Bracelet: This nullification bracelet naturally disables all of a characters active abilities, and any outwardly projecting passive abilities (such as auras). This bracelet can be taken on and off at will.
HISTORY
Cassie was an accidental pregnancy. Her birth mother was the mistress of a rich businessman, but she was also a witch. To avoid scandal, it was agreed that Cassie would be given away in a closed adoption. She was raised by an average middle class couple that lived in a small town on the countryside in Texas. She had a pretty average childhood. Well, except for the fact that the houseplants always perked up around her, blooming out of season. If she sat in the grass, wildflowers bloomed in a circle around her. Instead of imaginary friends, she talked to the plants.
Being branded as a weirdo by the other toddlers at school, and upon seeing that their daughter was making flowers appear out of thin air with no explanation, it just seemed easier for her parents to pull her out and start homeschooling her, while also running several medical tests to see what made their daughter able to grow flowers every time her feet touched the grass. It all came back inconclusive. Though they were confused and a little distraught over what they didn't understand, they still loved her. She wasn't hurting anyone, and in her own words, she "made everything prettier."
She stayed at home with her father, wondering why she wasn’t allowed to go to school like the other kids her age. They simply told her that she was so special that the other kids didn't understand. Her parents had no idea just how special she would become. When she was about eight or so, her abilities started to manifest. She could will plants to grow, to move. This revealed itself when she was outside in her mother's garden, helping her tend the plants. They had just planted a tomato plant the day before, but when Cassie cupped one of the leaves in her hand, her mother watched as slowly, just fast enough to be visible to the eye, the plant grew and started to sprout tomatoes as Cassie held it up. Her poor mother was amazed, confused, and terrified all at the same time.
The incident was enough for her parents, not knowing who else to go to, went through a lengthy process to unseal Cassie's birth records and reach out to her birth mother. Her birth mother explained to her parents about their heritage, a line of witches that dated as far back as Salem. Of course they immediately thought she was crazy, until she made a seedling of a fern grow right before their eyes, instantaneously. Overwhelmed by everything, it took a few weeks for them to wrap their heads around it all. But eventually, they accepted the fact that their daughter had magic in her veins.
Over the next eight years, she cultivated her power almost entirely on her own, learned how to control it and use it to her own gain. She had exactly four meetings with her birth mother, where she was taught a little bit about her ability and how to use it, as well as her family history, but her birth mother turned out to be pretty flaky. She played in the woods behind their house, talking to the plants, cooing at how beautiful they were, growing acorns into trees. She always had acorns in her pocket.
When she was 14, after begging her parents and proving to them that she could control her ability, they agreed to let her enroll in public high school. She was normal once again, blending in with the other teens and never setting foot near the grass, sticking to the concrete sidewalks. She made a lot of friends, got into trouble like a normal teenager, but her kind nature was eventually taken advantage of. When she was 16, she started to date. She dated one of the theater boys for a a few months, but rumors started to swirl around about her, nasty rumors that branded her as the high school slut. She took him to her happy place, the forest, and confronted him about the rumors. After confirming that the source was her boyfriend, she lost her mind. She unleashed anger unfounded before, and the treetops started to shake, like a hurricane was blowing them. She was losing control of herself, but she didn't care. The roots from the trees grew up and trapped him against one of the tree trunks as she yelled at him, and the treetops shook harder. She was starting to feel lightheaded, but she continued tearing into him. He was terrified, unable to get out of the hold the roots had on him. She only stopped when everything started to spin. Angrily, she stumbled forward and put her hand against the trunk, next to his head, and the roots moved away. He bolted, and she just sat there, trying to keep herself together.

RESOURCES
Cassie lives in the school dorms, but all necessities and costs are paid for by her parents. She gets a monthly stipend from them, as well. She has a skateboard for travel.
