Name: Caróg
Age: 7 (physically 19, mentally 16ish)
Birthday: December 20
Gender: Male
Species: Baobhan Sith (vampire-fae)/God
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: Remedial
Appearance Description:
Except for the fact that he has deer hooves instead of feet, Caróg appears to be a normal human male. His 2-inch-long black talons would also stand out, but they are fully retractable and usually hidden. At 5'5", he is slightly shorter than average, and he has a slender, athletic build with feminine facial features and pale skin. He has piercing black eyes, and his black hair is naturally short. He has two tattoo-like markings in black ink - a spiral on the back of his left hand and a + shape with a circle in the center on his forehead. Caróg doesn't really have a clothing style of his own yet. He generally just wears the school uniform or other clothes that will shift with him. He prefers black and white or green clothes.
Caróg has very crowlike mannerisms. He appears to perch rather than sit, makes cawing sounds, and will bite with a pecking motion if cornered. Usually, his eyes are closed, but he tends to stare unblinkingly when he opens them. When he speaks, which isn't often, his English is very broken and oddly accented with hints of Scottish. The demigod is clumsy and moves slowly and awkwardly in human form, except when he's dancing with someone. He smells like fae magic and blood and crows.
Crow form - In this form, Caróg is an average-sized, mature male Hooded Crow. His head, throat, wings, tail, and claws are black. Everything else is white. The witch marks don't stand out as much in this form because they're black on black.
When shifting into other animals, he will take a mature male form and will always have black and white colouring and the black markings on his forehead and left hand/paw/claw (depending on his colouring, these may be more or less visible. ) He still behaves like a crow and moves awkwardly in these forms.
Personality Description:
Caróg considers himself to be a crow, and he exhibits all the behaviour and mannerisms of one. Although he is fully mature and intelligent, he is very much a feral creature who has had limited human contact. A somewhat shy, silent watcher, the demigod is social and curious and enjoys being around people. He misses his flock greatly, which sends him into occasional bouts of homesick melancholy, but he's willing to learn and make friends on the islands. He can be quite playful and childlike, but also violent when provoked and vengeful. Caróg is loyal and protective of anyone he considers a friend. He cannot stand cruelty to animals, though he is afraid of dogs. He is also slightly claustrophobic. He much prefers being outdoors. He doesn't understand normal social cues and will get in people's space, but he doesn't like being touched first.
Active Abilities:
Shapeshifter - Can shift instantly between human and crow form at will and maintain either form as long as he wants. This is the only shift that can be done during the day. Can also shift, taking a few minutes, between human form and form of any non-magical animal he's touched, except dogs/wolves. Will always be black and white and carry witch's marks. Injuries carry through. Can't speak in animal form. Scent doesn't change. Gains any natural senses/capabilities, but no instincts (would need to learn how to fly). Forms other than human and crow can only be used 2 times a night, no more than an hour at a time. Currently only other form is a cat.
Dancer - Is able to dance gracefully in human form when dancing with a partner. Partner must be willing. Only works on one person at a time. Increases strength of attraction aura (if they're already affected) for partner and lowers their inhibitions, similar to being a little drunk. Doesn't compel anyone to act in a way they normally wouldn't.
Wail of fear - Causes an intense feeling of terror to all sentient beings within 25' that can hear the wail and feel fear. Can only use once a day. The scream itself only lasts about 15 seconds, but panicked feeling lasts for 15 minutes. Must be able to yell. Sound blocking devices such as headphones can diminish or completely negate this ability depending on their strength. Strength of effect halved for dog/wolf-based creatures such as werewolves.
Passive Abilities:
Attraction aura - Only in human form. Range of sight. Physically attractive to those who are attracted to males/male identities. Strongest effects on male/male identities - to them he would seem to be one of the most attractive men they'd met, while females would just find him mildly handsome. Doesn't otherwise affect emotions/behaviour.
Sharp talons in human form. Can be stopped by anything thicker than leather.
Animal Communication - Can understand natural, non-sentient Earth animals. Can learn to speak to them in proper form, but doesn't automatically gain this knowledge.
Death Visions - Works on all sentient living beings native to Earth (includes those born in Underhill/Heaven, but not other planets/Hell). Sees all their possible violent deaths for the next 48 hours (Not natural causes). Superimposed on the person like an illusion. Can't shut off.
Fear immunity - Immune to magical fear effects. Can still be afraid and be frightened by things that don't directly affect the emotions such as illusions.
Supernatural strength - twice as strong as an average adult male of whatever form he's in.
Immortal/Ageless. No need to eat/drink. Doesn't physically need sleep, but often sleeps during the day anyway. Immune to natural poison/disease. Unaffected by cold - Will not get hypothermia or frost bite. Heals slightly faster than a human, with regeneration - would take about a month or so to regrow a limb. Can regenerate anything short of decapitation (including organs/brain injury/eyes). Wounds made by dogs/wolves or werewolves heal twice as slow. Can be permanently injured by weapons designed to hurt gods/fae. As long as his head is still attached and his torso is at least 75% intact, he will survive. Won't die from blood loss/shock. Does not resurrect once dead.
Weaknesses:
Vampiric - Blood-drinker. Must drink 6-8 pints (about 1 full grown male) of human blood a week or becomes weak, not fatal but can render comatose in about a month. Urges for blood also become more uncontrollable with time.
Night creature - Weak (1/4 usual strength) and tired during the day. Needs sunglasses or blinded by sunlight. Direct sunlight causes immediate sunburn.
Iron burns and wounds made by iron must be healed with magic/won't regenerate.
Non-sentient Earth dogs/wolves will be more aggressive and likely to attack.
Biography:
A child of the Morrígan and a baobhan sith (baavan see), through some trick of magic Caróg was born fully grown to two women. Neither of these women was particularly maternal, so after teaching him how to shift from human to crow and how to feed, the Morrígan charged a flock of crows with his care and abandoned him in a forest somewhere in Scotland.
For five years Caróg was raised by these crows, rarely taking human form except when he needed to feed. And even still he would remain in crow form as long as possible. The demigod didn't usually kill the people he fed from, although there were some accidents, but because he was a shifter and stuck mostly to the forest for his feedings, he was never caught. He learned/matured quickly, as a crow rather than a man. But he was still curious about humans and eventually wanted to get closer to them.
There was a woman who visited the forest often, who seemed a little different from other humans. He followed her home one day and didn't attack her. It turned out she was a witch, though he didn't know it at the time. He started following her every time she came to his section of the woods, which began to happen more and more often. She sensed the magic in him and marked him as her familiar, not realizing he wasn't just a magic-touched crow. She was the one who named him Caróg, and he learned some basic human speech from her, more quickly than he would've without the familiar bond, though he never transformed to practice it.
He continued being her familiar for about 2 years, dividing his time between her and his flock, until one day the witch fell off a ladder while picking apples and broke her neck. She died instantly, and the breaking of the familiar bond combined with natural grief left him heartbroken. Not knowing what to do, the demigod headed to the nearest town, wanting to speak to another human.
The naked man with deer feet speaking incredibly broken English was quickly picked up by the police. A scout got ahold of the police report and Caróg was brought to Manta Carlos and enrolled in the school.
Resources: Lives in dorms. Under care of the school.
Additional Information:
Can communicate with crows/ravens even in human form, to the degree that a human form can mimic.
Speaks very broken English and has about a kindergarten level of understanding. Has an easier time understanding a Scottish accent. Doesn't have a language charm because even with one his speech was still so basic it barely made a difference.
