"They are rather exciting," Pix commented once they were side by side. As if to prove that she were spirited, Peeka executed a flying change without the command, and kept herself on the wrong lead. Pix laughed then, the short burst of sound transforming her face from cold to warm, dimples appearing in her cheeks as the thought that these horses were too intelligent for their own good crossed her mind. As they continued at the steady pace, Pix spotted something ahead that made her quirk a brow and look over at Mez. Giving the signal, Peeka performed another flying change, back on the right lead which was necessary for the upcoming obstacle in their path.

"Hold on to her mane and grip with you legs," Pix advised before urging Peeka to a gallop, rising forward slightly in anticipation of the rising horse. Wrapping her fingers in the brown and white mane, the sixteen year old still fell against the horse's neck slightly, after clearing the four foot log. That was one drawback of bareback, jumping. Slowing Peeka, Pix stopped some yards after the jump, turning to make sure Mez had made it. It wasn't out of any particular concern for him, if he fell, she'd have to chase after Piper or the horse mat be injured, and she'd probably have to check on him too.

"They are rather exciting,"

He chuckled as Peeka displayed her spirit, "Ah... Yes I take it spirited horses like you Miss Pix. Apparently Piper doesn't like me that much or isn't nice to me..." He said with a chuckle, Piper as if to argue let out a defiant snort. He chuckled scratching Piper lightly behind the ear. "Don't worry I don't dislike you, I just think I'm going to be sore after this ride." He said with yet another chuckle.

"Hold on to her mane and grip with your legs,"

He nodded, he held on tight to Piper as she jumped and gripped with his legs. It worked somewhat, since Mez didn't want to hurt Piper he didn't grip tight enough and fell off her just as they landed. He hit the log not too hard but hard enough that he was going to be one black and blue rider. He groaned getting up. Piper had stopped shortly after he fell off, the horse pranced up to him and whinnied at him. She pranced around in a little circle as if to illustrate he was a bad rider.

'Good thing I stopped' was the thought in Pix's head as Peeka turned on her signal and they trotted to the dysfunctional riding duo. Once there, Pix lifted one leg over Peeka's rump, and she landed gracefully on her feet. Turning she walked over the Mez, regarding him with with a quirked brow. Peeka followed, resting her head on the short girl's shoulder.

"What happened to holding on to her mane?" no questions over how he was, no concerned tone. In Pix's mind he wouldn't have stood if he was fatally injured, so the questions would simply be pointless. Without looking, she reached up a hand to stroke the horse's cheek, unaffected by the weight of the animal's head.

"What happened to holding on to her mane?"

"I didn't want to hurt her... I didn't think it felt good to have your hair pulled is all." He said looking at Piper who shook her head and snorted a insulting snort at Mez. She did not like how absolutely weird this boy rided her. And Mez didn't want to hurt the beautiful speckled horse. Piper trotted to Mez and turned around as if to say try it again.

She snorted, annoyed at this boy's little knowledge about horses. Mez looked at Piper feeling like a pathetic excuse for a rider. He wished this was a dancing thing instead of riding. He was more at home with dancing than riding a horse. He looked at the girl and wondered how she did all of this so gracefully and with such ease.

"It's not a pleasant feeling and I'm sure she'd appreciate the act, if she had feeling in her mane," Pix stated, still stroking the cheek of Peeka. After her words, she placed a hand under the horse's whiskery chin, waiting till the head was lifted before moving to the log. Peeka followed, understanding without any urging to stand beside the log so that Pix could use it as a mounting black.

Unsteadily climbing the dead tree, Pix faced Peeka, grabbing both reins and mane in one hand, she gently sat upon the horse. Using only her legs, she turned Peeka and walked a few paces from Mez, looking back over her shoulder.
"Come on," she urged without impatience.

"Oh... She doesn't feel her mane?" He looked at her, "So she does feel her mane..." He looked at Piper. He didn't know much about horses, he was only a occasional rider. He looked at Pix wondering why she was standoffish sometimes. He was only trying to be friendly, he thought of how Jen and him broke up. He hated the fact that he couldn't find her. He had decided to not be king, he had decided that he'd find a worthy trustworthy young man who was going to marry to take his place. They wouldn't truly know the wiser.

He got back on Piper's back a more solumn look on his face as he thought about his loss.

"No, no feeling," she stated the words, taking one hand from the reins to wrap her fingers in the multi-colored hair along the neck of Peeka, tugging it without the horse noticing. When Pix turned to see his reaction, she noted a rather downtrodden turn to his features.
"What's the matter?" voice was still emotionless as she let Peeka pick her own path.

He sighed, "I was thinking about my erm... ex-girlfriend or I guess that's what'd you'd call her even though we never were offical. I couldn't chase after her when she left, I was at the hospital. Such a horrible thing to do too, I just put my life in the hands of God so that I could save her and then she tells me just because our kingdoms are at war we should break it off."

He sighed, "I don't know why women can't have faith in the people who love them." He said leaning down to pet Piper. "Why are girls so complicated?" He asked more so to the horse than to Pix. He never thought about people's gender unless they were the one he loved. Which Jen was but for some reason he couldn't find nor try to hunt her down with this pain in his heart.

So he risked his life to save someone, and with that acknowledgment of such a noble deed, Pix's respect was won. It wasn't that simple act alone though, it was coupled with his concern for her picture and his kind treatment of Piper, even when she committed acts that would cause a normal person to snap. It was as if a hard edge to her face lifted, though there was still no smile and it wasn't as if she were going to share her darkest secrets with him. Still, it changed her attitude toward him enough that she would at least attempt for her words not to be overly cynical when she responded.

"It's impossible to comprehend romantic love at our age, but if this girl believed that she had such feelings for you, she never would've left. Everybody's complex," she added with a quirked brow in his direction. Pix didn't quite understand how most people viewed the opposite gender as a complete mystery, they share the same thoughts and feelings most of the time. With a soft sigh and pat of Peeka's neck, the thought of preferring horses to people crossed her mind.

"I guess, but it's hard to grasp the fact that she might have not meant what she said. I truely don't think she didn't understand it. I can't seem to get her out of my mind though, she even haunts my dreams. Everything reminds me of her just about. Even horseback riding... Our relationship started out kinda weird since she got kidnapped by some psycho." He said with a sigh thinking about how happy they'd be if she wasn't kidnapped.

He smiled at Piper who now was quite content with her rider's petting her muzzle. He couldn't help but be glad that Piper finally seemed to be warming up to him. Unless it was the fact that Piper liked the spot he was petting on her muzzle. Either way Piper decided to be nice and not give him too many more problems. Unless he asked for it by acting too stupid. Piper let out a small snort almost trying to act like she wasn't going to be nice to Mez still.
