<div align=center>Leeroy shrugged with his statement, figuring it was true. He supposed that was what mattered in the end, that he had everything he needed. Still, the guy probably deserved a little luxury... Even if he was less than being 'fully there'. His reasons for being out so late seemed to uphold another predictable reason. As free as ability use was here, some cases just needed you to be careful. When everyone had powers, no one did. At least that was the way it seemed. "Understandable. Just... Be careful if ya do somethin risky. Cops can be tight round here." It was true that they had some tight police on the island. But he couldn't disagree. There were some downright evil people here. Of course they needed some good law enforcement.

"Mind reading and control? That's a good power ya got there, and you're probably gonna need it with somma tha people here. Trust me. Just... Use it for good or somethin'." He really did in his hands hold a scary yet easy to manipulate ability. With training it he could probably take on the worst the island had to offer... That is, if he wanted to associate with others like that in the first place.

With the question of the school, Leeroy looked down to think before turning his attention towards him again. "Uh, big..." He chuckled. "There's a lot to it, ta accommodate all sortsa students. Tha place itself is old but least it's up ta date on programs an' technology. Plus, the facilities an' dorms ain't all that bad." He shrugged. "I used ta be a student there as well... Not much has really changed." But he was young. Of course it hadn't really. </div>

“You must have met different cops than I did.” And that was that.

“Hmm. You’ll have to introduce me to those ones. I haven’t met enough interesting people so far.” Sasha laughed softly. “Tell me the next time good does anything interesting, and I’ll join them.”

“It has a history, then. Clearly it’s a very established school. Clearly it’s a very established community. An entire set of islands, absolutely full of the sorts of things generally considered impossible. And nobody outside knows. Doesn’t that strike you as odd?” His gaze was sharper now. “I’ve practically been waiting for an attack since I got here, and yet nobody’s followed my easily-traceable route. It makes me wonder just what Starlight’s been doing to hide itself, and when the scales will finally tip.”

“Do they take volunteers? Starlight Academy.”

<div align=center>Oh.

So he was that kind of guy.

As much as Leeroy didn’t want to judge anybody, he was a bit apprehensive of this stranger. Obviously he had a run in or two before with the law, and so far he was living as a refugee. At least, that was how it seemed. He wasn’t a man with the purest of intentions, that was for sure. Oh well. It was further incentive for Leeroy to be nice with this guy. He certainly didn’t want a guy who could control minds to get on his bad side. So he chuckled nervously. ”Hey, I mean we gotta coupla kids who are pretty good, with unusual abilities…” He got to thinking. ”Some kid I teach can turn into dinosaurs… But he stays outta trouble.” See? At least there were people who weren’t going to abuse their powers. For now, at least. And still they remained interesting.

But… This guy had confirmed all of his superstitions. He was on the run, and someone was on his tail. And he seemed to think it was a conspiracy. Leeroy gulped. ”No, I uh… I don’t think so. Tha owners of tha island I think are in agreement with other governments ta keep everyone safe and sound….” He honestly didn’t know. All these years he and he didn’t question anything once. Then again, he really didn’t want to. ”I jist… Trust what’s goin on here.” And obviously this stranger didn’t. But he would probably get used to everything, anyway. At least he hoped.

With that, he questioned why he told him about the school in the first place. Would he regret giving him for info? He hoped not. ”Well, I mean there’s interns, an’ subs for teachers that go out… Don’t git paid, though I ‘spose that’s the point of volunteers….” He looked at him somewhat suspiciously. ”Whydja ask?”</div>

“Dinosaurs. Plural.” He raised an eyebrow. “Interesting.” He wondered what the definition of “dinosaur” was there. Did they have to reptilian, or simply ancient? He had to admit the concept of a wooly mammoth in their midst was quite an amusing one.

“You sound like you just made that up.” He chuckled softly. “I don’t know. I wasn’t bred on trust. It’s far more interesting to get to the bottom of things.”

“Because I might join them at some point.” He shrugged. “What can I say? I like the concept of the school, and I’d like to see it a little more closely. …I would have liked to get one of their letters, before I grew up like this. Guess I’m not one of the lucky few.”

<div align=center>A tight line pulled across his face. Smartass. The thought almost streamlined through his skull, but luckily he held enough mental restraint to not make the comment, especially with the knowledge that the man could read minds. "That's... What I said...?" Or so he thought. He wasn't an English teacher for a reason. With the comment of his possible bluffing, Leeroy raised a brow. He didn't appreciate being called out on by other people, especially when he was telling the truth. "Yah callin' me a liar?" He asked skeptically, arms folded. Why would he make something up like that anyway? He'd have to be downright delusional to make up something like that. And that was saying something given the context of their situation. "Though I agree, I think that 'pinion might change for ya soon. Truth is stranger than fiction here, an' if some guy told me they saw a unicorn jist now I wouldn't be surprised." This guy seemingly had a lot to learn. But truth be told, he had probably the best mind for life outside of this tiny corner of the globe. Leeroy? He was sheltered way too much in this place. Why, he just may go mad if he returned to 'normal'.

Though, he had to say, his intrigue in the school piqued Leeroy's own interest. He didn't blame him, as it was a rather interesting place. Never a dull day there, that was for sure. However with the mention of the letter he felt a bit of sympathy. He sighed. "Unfortunately yeah... It's a shame, but I reckon the only reason I got in was cuz I did somethin' truly nasty with my ability... And caught summun's 'tention." It was the misfortune of the draw, he guessed. He grew a bit quiet before he began to speak again. "Lotta people who come here are messed up one way ora 'nuther. But I guess they get better ovah time." At least, some of them... </div>

“Yes, I wouldn’t have mentioned it if you didn’t say it. Isn’t that how it works?” Why did the man look so offended? It was if Sasha’s very face made him want to scowl. “I’m not calling you a liar, I’m calling you uneducated in government matters, and thus filling in the gaps with what little you think you know. There’s a bit of a difference.”

Finally, the man said something interesting. “I’m not trying to disprove anything, you must realize. If there were a unicorn around here, I’d go to its side to see if it would sense impurities and attack me. They were described as rather vicious before the film industry got to them.”

So the school went after those who would otherwise cause harm. It was a noble pursuit, with the interesting side effect of ushering away powerful people from attention. “…I guess I’ll fit right in, then.”

He walked past the other man and settled himself on the side of the bench, giving more than enough for him to sit as well if he so wished. “That, by the moon.” He pointed up into the sky, to the bright white dot sitting by the seemingly full moon like some large star. “That’s Saturn. Tonight in Australia, they’ll be able to watch its occultation. The ringed giant will align perfectly with our Luna, and so disappear behind her, dwarfed by something so much smaller. What I would give for a telescope…”

<div align=center>At the stranger's defense Leeroy realized that he had made mountains out of molehills. He visibly calmed himself down some, though still held apprehension from this man. He was strange, and seemed hard to trust. Besides, he was always wary of people who could poke holes through his arguments, or seemingly lessen his way of thinking. This guy seemed pretty smart, which gave him a perfect reason. Still, it wasn't healthy to hold a vendetta for such petty reasons. Figuring it was the adult thing to do, Leeroy replied to the man's defensive retort with a simple "You're right. I'm sorry."

Though he wanted to dismiss the situation, he couldn't help but to pick up on that last remark on film. "Yeah, tha media tends ta do that here. You'll be seein' a lot of weird creatures here, so at leastcha know not ta follow all that bullshit." Ignorance would be a folly here, and it was beneficial this guy seemed to look past it. The cowboy himself did have a run in or two with creatures he vastly underestimated when he was younger. God, what an idiot he had been. Then again, it seemed like everyone made a very costly mistake at least once on this island.

And for some, errors such as those seemed to be all too recurring.

Leeroy looked up when the stranger went to the other bench, as to look to the stars. At first, he questioned whether or not it was a good idea to join him. But as he was showing him things about the night sky, he figured he'd like a look. Joining him on the bench he gazed up as well, squinting a little. He was silent as he was trying to figure it out. Times like these called for a lack of words. After all, it was sort of humbling to look upon something much bigger than an insignificant individual. "Huh..." He muttered, studying. He couldn't much help him with a telescope, but to have the knowledge that something like that was happening was good enough for Leeroy. "Makes me want ta be in Australia." He commented simply with a small chuckle. He rested his elbows on his knees, his once stoic expression now filled with peace. He had gone out here for alone time to think about things, but then again solitude got boring quickly. Besides, there was still a nice night to enjoy. So all was good. "Hard ta still be upset an' look at this sorta thing. Can't hardly remember why I came here in tha first place." He had found solace in the night, and it had helped push away the unwanted feelings and memories he had been dwelling on before. Hopefully, it would stay that way. </div>

“Mm.” It had been a very long time since somebody had honestly apologized to him. He’d forgotten what it felt like, and it made him relax. “They make it difficult to sort the truth from the lies, but you learn to deal with it.”

Though the man wouldn’t see it, Sasha smiled honestly for the first time that week as he looked up at the night sky. It was a different one than he’d gotten used to over the years, but they were the same stars. “Good. There’s quite a few things out there worth forgetting.”

Then he leaned back and closed his eyes, falling into a dreamless sleep.
