Candy and Costumes

By the school's entrance sat Nyota, wearing a blue starfleet uniform that anyone would recognize if they had had even a vague awareness of Star Trek. For those who wear really into Star Trek (like her both of her moms), they would recognize it as Type D female science dress uniform from the Star Trek Generations series. The outfit wasn't the only thing a bit different about her. Nyota had taken the time to apply some amateur make-up special effects to make her appear like a female Vulcan, the prosthetic elf-like ears that matched her skin town and some make-up magic to make her eyebrows look more arched and upswept. Its amazing how a little foundation, some glue, and bit of latex can really make see the look though she felt that most people were going to think that she was funny looking elf instead of Vulcan. Still, make up can only go so far as there was no way that she was going to hide her glowing eyes and nor her missing left arm. Given thouse restrants... she was just about as Vulcan as she could reasonably get away with.

For now, Nyota continues to sit by set of stairs leading away from the academy with nothing but a large black plastic bag and a flashlight. All of her time spend in the bathroom applying make-up took her about 25 minute yet she somehow managed to beat James at the spot they agreed to meet at... maybe his costume too longer to put on... or he was waiting for her and the two of them were just being oblivious. For now... she was going look at funny pictures of cats on the internet from her smartphone as freezes her butt out in the cold night.

Nyota looked to James once she heard his voice. She grimaced somewhat at the site of his costume... finding it a bit freaky. While she was familiar with James' abilities, his tendrils of darkness that he sprouted she still found somewhat unsettling.

"Ehhh! I think it looks you might have overdone it a bit much. You look... really freaky. But if you wanted try to scare children I say you did a good job."

Nyota then lifted herself from where she was sitting, brushing her bum off of any bits of dirt clinging onto her pants. She returned James compliment with a smirk as she showed off the prosthetic ears.

"And thanks by the way. It has been awhile since I last went out trick-or-treating as a Vulcan but I think I still did a pretty good job. Plus its relatively simple to put on... at least compared to dressing as something like an Andorian or Klingon. Normally I would have one of my moms help me help me apply the cosmetics but... they are all the way in Nebraska still."

Nyota frowned somewhat as she realized that this was her first Halloween trick or treating without her parents.

"You know... this is first time I am going out in costume without my parents. We used to do this every Halloween. Honestly I think they just enjoy going out in costume more than anything else on Halloween. Or tease me about my apparent sweet tooth. I swear they are just big kids at times."

Nyota chuckled a bit, then sighed as her eyes looked out to the night sky for a moment. That is until she caught herself about to daydream and returned her attention back to Jame.

"Ughh... feeling a bit nostalgic. Don't worry about me okay... I have you for company this Halloween so that will have to do. And don't worry about my moms, they both going to fine without me. So what time is the cab coming? I am freezing my ASS out here you know."

"Huh... speak of the devil. Well lets get going now!" called out Nyota, who crawled right though the door James so graciously opened for her but not bothering to thank him for his gentlemanly act.

Nyota slid herself onto left most window seat and buckled herself to the seat.

"Heya taxi, can you take use to the city? Anywhere will do really."

"Hee... you two lovebirds on a date?" jokingly asked the mysterious man behind the wheel.


"Ewww. No! We are just friends okey. Lay off." proclaimed Nyota who at first appeared disgusted that the two of them were dating but now appeared more annoyed if anything.

"Whatevar ya say, your boyfriend is a real gentleman you know~." teased the driver

"Ughh... he is not my boyfriend..." retorted Nyota dryly "... in fact he is my sidekick, we are a pair of costumed supervillians and our dastardly plan is relieve the sugary confections of innocent civilians."

"Ha... best one I heard yet this night." laughed the driver whose identity she could not make out from where she was sitting.

"Hurph... anyway, we are heading just to the city right? If you have anyone you want to go in particular I guess you should say something."

Nyota looked over the James with friendly smile. The thought of the two of them... dating? What a laugh, they just good friends is all. Not like she had any sort romantic feelings for him and she suspected that James felt the say about her as she did about him.

"Pfft... it will probably be more of the same really. The only thing that has really changed is trying figure if someone was wearing a costume or not." Jeered Nyota as she continued to watch streetlights fly past her eyes.

Time pased as Nyota spent much of the trip staring out at the window as if though she was under the influence of some magical spell. She only broke out if the moment the taxi car lurched to a stop.

"Alright, here be your stop now." bellowed the taxi driver

Nyota was a bit dazed by the sudden passage of time but exits its the and takes in the scenery around her.

"Wow... I... I wasn't expecting the city to... you know... look like an actual city?"

"Well... yeah. Duh. Don't all buildings look different on the inside than what you... oh... wait you mean like magically bigger on the inside than on the outside sort of thing? Oh that is trippy... I gotta remember that I am not in Nebraska anymore."

Nyota twisted her body to face James as she gave him a nod of agreement.

"And yes, lets enjoy the night while it lasts. Halloween only comes once a year."

With a wave of her hand she beckoned James to follow her as the patrolled the streets for various goodies.

"So... whatcha thinking? I see people getting candy from that one place we are coming to. Actually... have you ever gone out trick or treating before?" questioned Nyota, realizing that as weird as it might sound, James might be a virgin when it comes to the tradition that is trick or treating. After all, this was the same kid who never saw a television show until she introduced him to Star Trek in her dorm room.
