Callum Airay
Pronunciation: CAL-um EAR-ray
Nicknames: Cal Category: Student Age: 15 Birthday: July 15th Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Occupation: Wizard's Apprentice Class: High School Grade: 9th Race: Human Appearance
Height: 5'2"
Build: Lightly toned/Average Full Body Reference || Multi Reference Callum is fair. Fair skinned, fair hair, fair facial shape. He isn't particularly masculine as of yet, still growing into his body. He's at that awkward teenage phase where his hands and feet are a little too big for his arms and legs. He has short platinum blond hair that he normally wears slicked back, due to its unruly nature. His eyes are close-set and bright green, overlooked with somewhat thick eyebrows. Cal favors greens, grays, and black for his style of clothing. Long, overflowing robes, wizard hats (for ceremonial occasions), and slacks. His style is definitely prep: turtlenecks, slacks, and ties. |

Callum is the kind of guy who knows what he wants and works hard to get it. He is dedicated to the point of becoming singleminded. He's got enough pride in him to not back down from a challenge, or be swayed with doubt during any particularly difficult quest his master sends him on.
In fact, Callum rarely feels the effects of self-doubt. In a family and occupation where his success was based on his ability to think and do things quickly, there was no time for self-doubt.
This has hindered his ability for alchemy. On more than one occasion, he's gotten a good hand swat for adding things in too quickly or his general impatience with the long process.
Despite his prideful and competitive nature, Callum is more inclined to help people than he is to hinder them. His mentor and family have instilled in him an upstanding morality that he couldn't shake even if he wanted to.
Callum tries to come off calculating and professionally cold when he can, but it's undercut by his genuinely warm disposition. When people are in need, Cal can't help but answer their call, even if it's something as simple as helping someone bring in groceries.
This is as much a downfall as it is a positive aspect of his personality. He's more likely to stop and help someone than complete a goal he was given, even knowing he'll get in trouble. And it was this very trait that got him apprenticed by his mentor, even if he hasn't quite realized it yet.Actives
Alchemy Workshop:Callum has access to an extensive alchemy's workshop thanks to his mentor. The workshop has rare materials that allow for a wide variety of creations including but not limited to: healing potions, poisons, gas bombs, freezing bombs, and transmogrification potions.
All potions take time, a workstation, materials, and a careful hand. They require the ability to understand both science and magic at their base levels.
Currently, Callum isn't skilled enough for anything major. He can help speed up the healing process or create smoke bombs, or mild freezing elixirs to help with opening locks.
Detect Magic: Callum's most used magical ability is his inborn talent to detect and see the magic of the world. With the utter of a magic word, Callum sees how the magic in the world and others functions. It can be a bit hectic, seeing too much. Callum gets intense migraines within ten minutes of using this ability.
Detecting magic allows him to see the abilities people have active within eyesight and how the magic can be dispelled (whether he had the means fo dispelling is a totally other matter).
Portal Creation: By making a circular motion with his hand, Callum can create portals and attach them to a magical point in space that he previously made via touch. This magical point is known as an anchor. These portals are somewhat wonky and at times fizzle out before he's even gotten to use them. They're currently one-time use, so unless someone jumps through with him they can't enter after him.
The anchor he creates is broken the second the portal is used, so to use this ability he has to place his magic in one location and open the portal in another to lead back to where he originally placed his anchor.Passives
Innate Alchemy Knowledge: Callum has an instinctual knowledge involving alchemy. This isn't the type of knowledge that allows him to explain what he knows to other people, but it does make it easier for him to get creative when crafting potions and add attributes that following the rules wouldn't allow for.○ As he came into adolescence his father and mother put him up as an apprentice with a powerful wizard. They swore Callum would be great. He was smart, he was skilled, but most importantly, he was dedicated. Accepted into the role at fourteen, Callum began to train.
