Curious about the tomato and apple pie combination, Ivana cut a slice of tomato in half and then took a small forkful of pie with it. Taking a tentative bite as she listened to Bastet talk, she nodded in understanding.

"Yes, I love racing, especially up along the road leading up to the bluffs along the coast," Ivana said after she had swallowed the pie and tomato which she found to be quite a pleasant combination. She'd have never thought of mixing the two til now.

"I love motorbikes in general," she confessed, "I even like to restore vintage bikes when I can. Right now, I have a Norton Commando '73 that I am working on," she explained happily, thinking she couldn't wait to take that it out for a ride.

"I'm a bit of a fan of Kamen Rider series, and Agito's Machine Tornador was my favorite design. So when give the chance to make a request, I chose to have a Honda customized like it.", her eyes went briefly to the motorcycle, "A Norton Commando '73? Never seen one of those yet. But I assume 70s models are similar in design, but technically are far different."

Basté herself wasn't all that savant about bikes, her knowledge was mostly restricted to her own ride and that of Kamen Rider series. "I know how to work on bikes somewhat. Had to study about it myself, in case something ever went wrong with my Machine Tornador. So far, this bad boy has only given me light scares when it wouldn't start.", one by one her tomato slices were running out, but so was her slice of pie.

"I am afraid I don't know the Kamen Rider series," Ivana said rather apologetically guessing it might be a TV series or pop culture related.. Her lifestyle often kept her from pursuing such simple hobbies as watching a TV series. Even on an island like MC where there were not typically that many fires, there were call outs for other things like people and animals stuck in trees, water and gas leaks, etc.

"It's always a good idea to know how to repair your bike, or at least how to troubleshoot if if something goes wrong and you are on the road," she said approvingly. Not exactly worried for herself - she was a dragon and could handle whatever came her way - generally. But as was her need to protect, she often found herself thinking of others and the bad things that could happen to then.

"So this Kamen Rider, tell me a little more about it," she urged as she took a sip of her coffee.

Basté could understand, not having time to watch a series, or sometimes a movie. It was something that often happened to her parents, but not to herself, they would sometimes work all day and barely have time to sleep. "I can see how tough it would be to follow a TV series. Start watching an episode, then five minutes in a call from the central telling you about an ongoing fire with victims.", and that applied only to her father, her mother often didn't have time already, studying the cases she was working with.

With a sip of coffee that took more than usually, she agreed to having knowledge to troubleshoot the bike. By now, her pie was gone, and so were the slices of tomato. "Just the basic things, but already more than I'll need for long. That is: until more serious issues arises.", and soon enough it was time for her to talk about Kamen Rider. It was needless to say she was more than eager to.

"Kamen Rider, AKA Masked Rider, series started with Hiroshi Fujioka playing Takeshi Hongo, a prodigy student that is turned into a cyborg by the evil Shocker organization, however he uses his newfound powers as Kamen Rider #1 to combat the evil organization, seeking to protect freedom and the weak. Traditionally they all ride motorcycles remodeled to be far superior in performance, and unlike Super Sentai, or as Americans knows as Power Rangers, they either fight solo or in duos or trios, very rare are the cases of quartets or quintets, and their finishing move is often a flying kick called Rider Kick or a variation of. The Showa period of Kamen Riders is arguably the darkest one, with people dying left and right, but Heisei's first ten years saw a softening of the theme, gradual but certain, and the later ten years softened greatly. It still manages to be quite touching and have deaths, but you are more expected to cry over these deaths than in Showa era, since most comes in when you least expect. Makes me wonder who will be the first Reiwa Rider, and if it will continue with the soft theming or not."
, did she just... Go on a fangirl banter?

Ivana stopped midway, a forkful of apple pie in her hand, as Bastet began to talk, and quite passionately, to her about Kamen Rider. In fact, Ivana was so amused by her rant that she put her forkful of pie back down on her plate and proceeded to actually listen attentively to her.

When she was done talking, Ivana took a moment to sip her coffee before she proceeded to say anything.

"It seems like you are a huge fan of the series," she began with a little grin, "Do you collect merch also from the series," she asked with interest.

Seems she got a little bit flustered, as Basté scrambled on her words a little to answer Ivana shortly after the question. "K-Kinda so. Like them I do have a thing for justice too, and freedom. Even collected some merch, mostly posable figures, but had a couple of DX belt and weapons too. Left it all behind for my siblings, keeping only the Machine Tornador, as you see.", with her having a high school life, chances are she wouldn't be able to enjoy these as much as before. But still watched each episode.

"My father once had the luck of being called to be on watch at a filming site for an episode of I think Kamen Rider Decade, as some of the special effects involved combustion of material. His presence was not needed by the end of the day, so he got a day off where he would just watch the production of an episode.", it was a good story for her to reminisce.

"That sounds like quite a stroke of luck to be able to watch something like that being filmed," Ivana said with a thoughtful nod. "Unfortunately, things like that don't really happen here on the island," she had to admit. Manta Carlos was a closed community in a lot of ways and a TV production like that would never be allowed to be filmed here for a whole lot of reasons, secrecy probably the biggest one of them all.

"What was your father like?" Ivana asked, now curious about the man who had fathered Bastet..

"I know, the whole secrecy of the island. I didn't even know it existed until I received the invitation.", while it once struck as odd to her, Basté knew well the need to hide the island from common folk... Her father has faced some discrimination, not big ones because he was an adult and had the size as an intimidation factor.

Speaking of her father... Ivana seemed interested in him. After she finished her coffee and asked for another, she would tell as requested while awaiting: "My father was an adventurer in heart. Courageous, honest, kind, one to throw himself in the line of fire to protect anyone, regardless of age, or even hate toward him. Heh, it's even ironic, what I did back there pales in comparison to how my father has got acquainted with the firefighters and even earned his job. After some training, of course."

"He saw a mansion ablaze and flew over the firetruck screating a hole in the raging flames on the second floor by simply crushing the air there with a flick of wrist, diving in afterwards without a thought. He said for him it felt like almost an hour to find old woman that passed out in there, reanimate her and then take her out, just to dive back in and create a vacuum at the base of every flame and track the source to the broken heaters."

"Father sure had his ears blazing from getting told not to interfere, the chief was really pissed off at is recklessness, but in the end of the day... Found it in his heart to not complain of him to the police and asked him if he wanted to undergo a training. From then on, he was getting involved in every major incident, as his abilities proved to be efficient in rescuing victims, navigating collapsing areas and putting out most types of fire with ease!"

"Sadly one day... He didn't come back home. A few months shy from my 11th birthday, he was called to duty because what was once a hostage situation got worse as the perpetrator ignited the entire tenth floor while holding a CEO's son hostage. Dad defied him and was shot on the right chest while protecting and taking the boy outside. By the time he got outside the building... Some say the air around him was red and he had a sad smile on his face."

A brief pause was made, her order had come and she stared at the black void of the cup of coffee. That last bit was always heavy for anyone, no matter the age, but she still had a little more to go.

"When mom went to prosecute the shooter, she looked more like she wanted to murder him but was holding back as to uphold proper justice in court. As for dad's team, to this day they have his photo on the wall of the department, as well as a crew photo where he really stands out. It's not hard to see why they miss him: not only was he a man you could always rely on, but he also stood out for being taller than all and having horns and tail."

That bit had made basté laugh low for a while, then sip the coffee, amused at the mention of Ezan's unique features.

"Imagine this, he was almost ten feet tall when he passed away, and that was in his HUMAN form. His alien form was easily over that. If you remember my "aura" back then then you might have a good idea of what he looked like."

Back then that had been not an aura really, just a dense mass of air shielding her like a secondary skin with an inhuman appearance over her human one...

"He sounds like he was a very admirable man," Ivana said as she thought about everything Bastet had told her about her father, "You are lucky to have had such a person like him in your life and, quite clearly, as your role model."

"Have you decided what you want to do in life?" she asked Bastet curiously as she finished her pie off and took another small sip of her coffee.

"Men like him, as my mother says, are rarer these days. To jump into the unknown without expecting anything in return, and even defy time and space for the one he loved so much. That's an echo, since mom did the same thing for him. He must have passed the Weighing of Heart with a glance.", those at least a bit familiar with the Egyptian Pantheon should know well what that means...

But what did Basté want for herself. She wasn't sure yet. Adventure? Pursuing the remaining magatama could be something to do. But then what if she did? ... "Maybe I want to follow in his steps, but broaden my skills. Although the only training I had will be of no use here, the island has a way to keep the order, and thankfully has nice demons. Perhaps I should rest the sword somewhere and pursue a job in here."
