"I see," was all Ivana said at her explanation as she gazed over to where Bastet had found the pesticides. While quietly impressed and grateful for the young girl's help, Ivana, in good conscience, couldn't openly condone Bastet's help as it could easily lead to other bystanders rushing in to help and putting themselves in danger.

"It was very admirable that you chose to risk your life like you did," Ivana started, "however, you could have been seriously hurt," she explained.

"Next time you want to lend a hand, please talk to one of the first responders first?" she suggested, not unkindly. "Manta Carlos fire department doesn't want to be held responsible if something happened and you were hurt, or worse." she explained, not angry, but needing Bastet to understand that she could have been hurt for doing something so rash.

That small praise didn't go unnoticed. "I kinda take it after my father... He used to be a firefighter too.", no words were needed to show her remorse nor her longing for who was no longer there, "I understand... I'll be mindful of that should another incident occur." Basté would recover her energy, she has been there times before. Sometimes that lasts hours, at times it is minutes.

Mounting her Machine Tornador, she supported herself against the dashboard. "Ma'am, I still don't know much about you. Is it okay if you tell me then?", at least she brightened a smile now, having focused on something else... Or rather, on someone: Ivana.

"I am sorry to hear that," Ivana said, her features softening when she heard Bastet's father had been a firefighter. It didn't take her time at all to guess what probably happened to him. It was a sad lot of many firefighter's families, having their loved one killed in the line of duty.

Watching Bastet get back on her bike, Ivana was surprised, and it probably showed somewhat, when Bastet asked her if she could know a bit more about her.

"If you want," she said still somewhat surprised, "Would you like to get a coffee or something?" she suggested, having the need to sit down and relax after the call out.

"Thank you.", it was gratifying to see people who could relate with the hardships she went through, more specifically this one. And Ivana being a firefighter meant a lot too. Hasn't been the first time a firefighter showed sympathy towards the fact, nor would ever be the last. Always made Basté feel warm within.

But why was it Ivana seemed surprised? It confused the orange-headed girl. But at least an offer was up. "Gladly! I'm always up for more warmth!", and how. She hadn't warmed herself up properly and now she was in need of something to heat her up within. Thankfully, she was still alert, so brumation wouldn't come anytime soon.

"How about we meet at Morning Glory?" Ivana suggested naming a small cafe near the Ocean district. "Let's say in an hour if that's okay?" she said and looked at the time, while thinking she needed to get changed and have a shower. She really disliked the bitter smell of chemical-laden smoke in her hair and on her clothes.

(You can answer here, but we could also start up a new thread too?)

"Morning Glory?", it seems she still didn't know the place. Well, not that it should be hard to find, right? "Alright, we'll meet there in an hour then. Take care.", slipping the helmet on and started her motorcycle. In a smooth turn, she made her leave, fast like the wind, but gentle like a morning breeze. It wouldn't be hard to tell she has been keeping her speed just under the limit.

At a later time, she would have found the so called Morning Glory cafe, having parked her Machine Tornador by there and found a table. But as for herself... Well... One would say they didn't expect Basté like this, but she was dressed in a suit fit for a prosecutor, feeling the need to be formal in black and white with a red tie. Some would glance at her questioning whether she was an attorney at law, but of course she couldn't be... She didn't have a badge. This suit? When someone has asked, she simply explained "My mother had it tailored for me. Long story involving an important meeting."

(We can work it here)

Ivana arrived about fifteen minutes later at Morning Glory on her motorbike, dressed down in faded jeans, a t-shirt with the graphic design of a band she liked and a leather jacket with shiny pins and zippers and a few hand-sewn patches. She looked anything like the fire chief of Manta Carlos fire department.

Entering the cafe, she almost immediately spotted Bastet. Surprized at the girl's attire, Ivana waved a waitress over as she took a seat across from her, "Hello again," Ivana said with an amused smile, "Did you find the place alright?" she asked as the waitress appeared at their table and Ivana ordered a coffee and some pie for herself.

"Did you want anything?" she then asked, "My treat." she added.

At first she was puzzled, but when Basté and Ivana interacted, she was surprised to see the "wild" side of the chief firefighter. No way, she did not expect her to have a motorcycle too, and to dress like a biker. And here she was, Basté looking a bit too formal, a light blush coming to her face. "Ah, hello. I could barely recognize you for a moment.", she was a bit embarrassed but her smile didn't falter at all, "I do find Manta Carlos to be quite calm, and from what I was told there are many interesting people here, human or otherwise."

"Thank you for treating me. I might have coffee as well and apple pie. Oh, and some tomato slices too. Can't eat apple without tomato.", and once their orders were placed, Basté would once again ponder about Ivana... "Chief, I never had your name, right?"

Ivana flashed Bastet a wide grin when she commented on her appearance but didn't say anything. She knew her personal style clashed with her firefighter image.

"Make that two," she told their waitress when Bastet said she wanted a coffee and some tomatoes with her apple pie. Ivana had never had the combination before, however, the dragoness always liked to try new things.

"Oh, sorry, it's Ivana, Ivana Valdur," she said a bit sheepishly when Bastet mentioned she hadn't told her her name yet. "I often just assume everyone knows "that fire chief gal"," she explained, air quoting the last part.

"I am afraid that even in a place like Manta Carlos, you still get people who are shocked that a woman can do a man's job," she told Bastet with a smile. "it comes with territory, I guess," she said as the waitress came back almost immediately with their orders... one of the nice perks of living in a magical society - restaurant service was often fast.

"Ah, right, Ivana Valdur. I really prefer learning about people from them, rather than hearing from others, after all some people may not be able to properly inform of others.", that and, despite such being not a possibility a moment soon, some have a tendency to bend the truth in favor or against another. So, better play safe, right?

People shocked to know a woman doing a man's job? "Heh, back at home it is no different. Mother wears the pants, literally at that. And when she enters the courtroom you can almost see the defendant pleading guilty if they are truly the one at fault. A ruthless prosecutor, but a fair one as well.", displaying gratitude to the waitress coming with their orders, and not a moment longer she would serve herself a piece of the slice of pie along with a part of one slice of tomato.

It was a strange but intriguing combination, considering the clash of tastes, but for Basté it was something she has grown to take a liking to. "Do you like racing, Ivana? I've scouted a good abandoned road in the rural area that is perfect for racing."
