Gwynaria
Sylvie Ella Decroix
Gwynaria was a majestic sight on that bright, breezy day. She stood atop a rock, her posture tall and perfect. Statuesque. The air brushed through her spotted hair as she smiled to herself and scanned the tree lines beyond the courtyard and spacious sports fields.
“The wind sings of a journey…” Gwynaria said as she clenched her fists. An excitement was welling up inside of her. There really must have been something in the air for Gwynaria to feel this way—even if she was probably the only one sensing it.
“A call to adventure!” she cried out, throwing her arms out at her sides in a dramatic pose. The wind just so happened to pick up at that moment and wiped her hair around her face.
“Yeah, that’s nice Nari,” Sylvie interjected with a scowl on her face. “But we’re here to study.”
She definitely regretted letting Gwynaria talk her into studying outside instead of their dorm room. Gwynaria had the worst attention span Sylvie had ever encountered in her life. The younger girl brushed some of her blonde hair behind her ear as she rested a Spanish-language study guide in her lap.
“But don’t you feel it?!” Gwynaria insisted as she hoped down from the rock in front of the bench where Sylvie sat with her books. “The call to adventure doesn’t wait for people to study! Once you sense it, you go!
With a hand clenched to her chest, Gwynaria stared off into the distance. “Something beckons me—beckons us, perhaps.”
“No. I’m here to teach you Spanish. So sentarse el culo,” Sylvie replied, clearly unimpressed with Gywnaria’s passionate insistence.
Gwynaria frowned and looked down at the smaller girl. “What? What does that mean?”
“Maybe you would know if you would sit your ass down and study with me.”
Gwynaria stamped a hoof down on the ground. “Such language for a princess…” she grumbled before yielding to her small friend and sitting next to her. Sylvie let out a sigh of relief as she picked the book back up from her lap and started going over some basic grammar with Gwynaria. Her eccentric friend wasn’t going to get very far in Starlight Academy if she couldn’t concentrate of schoolwork for more than a minute before trying to run off on some ‘adventure’.
