Ishvi shook his head his head slightly realizing Garrick had misinterpreted his admittedly vague messages. He took a deep breath, the stinging in his mouth helping to jolt him a bit, if not clear his head. His typing was slow and careful, another attempt to delay the inevitable. - after. need help after. have to do this first. -

Picking up his dagger again, Ishvi winced from the pain. He couldn't hold that while he was talking to the supervisor, but he wasn't sure he should fit both in his pockets and he did not want to let them out of his sight. Well, it wouldn't be for long, he'd need his phone out anyway, so he gingerly put the second dagger in his other pocket, trying not to show how much just touching it had hurt him.

The dull dread at what he was about to give up was helping hold back his tears, but he wiped at his face again anyway. Ishvi didn't think he could handle it if he started crying in front of his boss. His shirt was bloody and he couldn't talk, he still tried to look as presentable as he could. - Can stand. Have to do this first. alone -

For what it was, the resignation went smoothly. There were no arguments. It was obviously necessary to both sides. There'd be paperwork of course, making it official, but that could wait until the next night, when Ishvi wasn't about to pass out. At this point, it was a formality.

Ishvi didn't shift. He held it together, face blank and outwardly calm while he walked back out to Garrick. The conversation had been quiet. No one else knew what was happening, and he could feel their questions. Stumbled a little now that it was over and just made a vague let's go gesture towards the owl cop. He couldn't deal with everyone else right now. One person at a time was hard enough.

Garrick remained where he stood when Ishvi went to do what he had to. He felt confused that Ishvi was resigning, and confused as to why he dueled with someone. But from the state he had seen Ishvi, he decided he wouldn’t ask questions. It felt unfair. He waited, quietly as he looked down at the ground.

He looked back up when he heard Ishvi walking back to him, and walked towards him when he saw him stumble. He didn’t really want answers, he felt it would make him angry. Garrick was excellent at hiding his own emotions, and excellent and feeling devoid of them when he worked. Because he was focused on helping Ishvi, he felt calm. But f he started learning what happened, he knew he wouldn’t be focused, and he’d lose his calm.

He nodded and would offer his shoulder as support for Ishvi. “Okay, let’s get you home.” He offered a small smile towards Ishvi, but knew that it was likely for nothing. He just wanted to feel that he was helping.

Ishvi was exhausted. He ached all over and probably would for a while, but the physical pain was so constant and general that it almost didn't matter. He had his own questions, but there was no one to ask, no way to get an answer. Did he regret what he'd done? Would he do it again? His thoughts were somehow racing and sluggish at the same time. He hoped Garrick would take a car because he wasn't sure how much longer he could stand being vertical.

Accepting the support and trying not to think about what he'd just given up, Ishvi kept up his blank face until they were out the door, not making a sound or reaching for his phone. The fact he couldn't speak would come out soon enough, but he couldn't face the others now.

-Car?- He typed when they were far enough away. It was a bit awkward, but he managed. - ask your questions. people will - While he was grateful Garrick hadn't prodded too much, Ishvi knew he'd have to give some answers eventually. He might as well talk now when he was relatively numb to everything. When he could hopefully pass off some of his emotions as the aftermath of the duel, hide the mental brokenness with bruises.

Garrick nodded. "Yeah, I don't think I'd be able to drag you all the way back home." He tried to lightly laugh as he pulled his own phone out to call for a lift. He kept his face forward, pretty much ignoring Ishvi's go ahead to ask questions.

He stuck one hand in his pocket, occasionally checking his phone to see progress on their ride. "Ishvi, I'm not going to ask questions." He sounded calm as he continued to stare ahead. "Partly because I don't want you to go through it again... but also because I don't want to know." He had a complete blank expression as he checked his phone once again. "The ride will be here in a couple of minutes." He blinked as he looked down at himself. He sighed deeply. "I liked this shirt."

As Garrick said, a car pulled up a couple of minutes later, and Garrick opened the door to let Ishvi in. He would then go around to the other side to get into the car.

Ishvi just nodded, too numb to respond to the attempted laughter. He would normally be awake at this time, but his brain was exhausted. For once he might get some decent sleep, too bad he couldn't really appreciate it right now. He wasn't even bothered that Garrick didn't want to ask questions. Wasn't relieved either. His face was blank, tears dried up, flickering ceased.

Typing on his phone seemed to take too much energy, but what else could he do? He'd asked the demon to kill him, but Maarab had only taken his tongue. He'd given up, and now he was falling because of it, and there was no way to explain, no one close enough to trust. -I resigned.- Ishvi couldn't remember if he'd already said that, but even if Garrick didn't want answers about the rest, that was one thing the owl cop would find out soon enough regardless.

If Ishvi was going to add anything more to that statement, he didn't get a chance. The car arrived and the half-angel awkwardly got in, more of a collapse than an entrance. He murmured something unintelligible that might have been an apology for the shirt or the trouble or all of the above. Then he typed out, [I trust you], before pulling up directions to his place and handing his phone to Garrick. He didn't attempt to make sounds after that, only the slight feeling of vulnerability stopping him from passing out completely on the ride home. And when he got there, he nodded politely, oddly afraid but not wanting to take up anymore of Garrick's time, only taking back his phone and reassuring the other man he'd be all right - he was just going to sleep anyway.
