Sean certainly found himself in agreement with Havoc on a fair number of points. He may have been a lying little thief, but the god was very organized. And the way the other man was describing his campaign plan - it was like he was describing how Sean's schemes worked, carefully dividing his plans into neat, simplified objectives.

"Ya seem like you've got a good head on yer shoulders anyway. Not like one o'them tv politicians. Did ya accomplish yer goal, then?" He guessed the answer to that question would most likely be a yes. Havoc seemed like the kind of person who wasn't all false promises. A good quality in a leader, but unlikely to make it very far in politics. Still - not someone to be underestimated.

"Too bad." Seemed he'd have to go looking for the other candidates on his own. He didn't want to appear too interested and suspected prodding more wouldn't make much of a difference anyway.

Most people did enjoy talking about themselves, but Sean was a bit of an exception. He was a background guy, the fly on the wall. It wasn't that he was awkward or uncomfortable around people, or that he lacked any confidence - he was simply always out to get more out of a conversation than he gave away. He wasn't obvious about it either. "Yeah, I'm new. What about you - were ya here long before yer first run?"

"Yes," Havoc confirmed. "The school now has an afterschool self defense program, allowing anyone who is interested to get self defense training. Previously classes existed, but you had to seek them out and pay for them yourself. The school has now centralized it, avoiding both issues."

He was absolutely not someone who was going to promise something and not follow up. If he said he was doing something, he was doing it. He was a fairly straight forward person, all things considered.

Havoc probably should have noticed how fast Sean turned the conversation around, but he didn't. He wasn't experienced or interested in following those kind of social rules.

"A few months," Havoc confirmed. "Long enough to have a feel for the island, at least. That's likely the ideal time to join the council--it means you're familiar, but you haven't gotten used to things, and aren't likely to fall into the trap of liking something because it's how it's always done."

That was the bane of politics, as far as he was concerned.

"After school self-defense. Tha's actually a good idea. Though - I hope it's not too dangerous 'ere?" Sean actually did like the idea of the students getting training - people who could defend themselves tended to be less panicky. And there was nothing quite like panic to ruin a guy's plans. Besides, he approved of the preparedness. It wasn't like he was the type to get into fights with people anyway. He wasn't a common mugger.

Sean just nodded at the rest. The other man was certainly sensible, that had been his first impression and Havoc was doing nothing to change that. He found himself hoping that Havoc's bid for student council was successful. Someone so logical and driven was a great person to have on a team, much preferred to a wild card.

It would soon be time for Sean to get back to work, and it seemed like he'd gotten most useful information out of Havoc, at least with regards to student government. He would definitely seek out the rest of the prospective members now. This young man had impressed the god, even with such a short conversation. Someone to keep an eye on for sure.

"You've been very helpful. I think I 'ave jest one last question. Gonna go into politics when ya graduate?"

Havoc could only shrug at the mention of how safe it was. He'd been kidnapped once already, so he supposed the answer was not really.

"It's as safe as one could imagine," Havoc said instead of directly answering. "The focus of the program is primarily to give people self confidence, rather than just helping them defend themselves against a specific threat." Which technically meant Havoc agreed with Sean - it was more about the mentality of things and keeping people from panicking.

Sean's final question--because it was obvious the conversation was mostly over, as signaled by the you've been very helpful--caught Havoc off guard. It was enough to make him momentarily falter, his eyes narrowing as he tried to puzzle through the reasons behind the question before abruptly deciding that he must have been wondering if he'd be seeing him as a minister.

"No," Havoc said. "I have no interest in politics after graduation. I only intended to go this far to get more experience dealing with civilians."

On hearing that Havoc wanted more experience with civilians, Sean was pleased to have been correct that the man was military. He might've liked to know more about what Havoc was actually planning to do, but mostly it had been a question to satisfy his own curiosity. Just to see if the man was a crusader for something, get an idea where he might be seen in the future. Admittedly, Havoc didn't come off as a particularly charismatic politician type, but it was best to ask. Whatever the answer, information was information, and in his mind, this conversation had gone quite well.

It seemed like they were done talking for now, and Sean held out his hand for a handshake. "'s been a good talk. I certainly know a lot more about this student council. 'ope ya get the position you're after."

After that Sean would just gather up his notebooks and head back inside, sure he'd see Havoc around the school, and that quite likely the man, with the head on his shoulders, would be in student council. Now the god just needed to get some of his own influence.

It should be an interesting encounter if the other man saw him in a staff position. But he wasn't worried about being caught out in a lie. He'd been telling the truth for the most part, even if being occasionally obscure, and Havoc's assumptions were his own problem. Sean found himself kind of looking forward to it.
