Brünhild was on that alley for a couple of days, at first crying but eventually tiring and nearing death. But then she was found by a passerby, a government official. He found the infant Brünhild from a pile of trash, some of fingers chewed off by rats.
The man knew his employers were in need of test subjects for top secret experiments so he picked Brünhild up and saved her life in case she could be of use.
Brünhild was taken in by a laboratory the Nazis used for human experiments. Their goal was to create powerful soldiers for their leader Hitler, who was planning to conquer the world. Some of the test subjects and scientists were creatures.
Brünhild was just a normal human and an infant, so she was at first deemed pretty much worthless. The scientists let her grow up a bit and when she was 2 they started experimenting on her. Their goal from the start was to manipulate Brünhild's DNA sequence to give her special abilities and make her an elite soldier. At the same time they brainwashed and manipulated Brünhild to think this was all okay, that it was normal. So Brünhild never questioned anything, even when her whole body felt like it was being torn in half.
Brünhild, as she was being tested on, was also educated in the art of combat and war and she was taught how to use almost any object imaginable as a weapon, from guns and knives to spoons and paper. She was designed to be a lethal killer, efficient, fast and loyal. And when Brünhild turned 8 she was ready for battlefield. Just when WW2 started in 1939.
Brünhild wasn't the only child who had been brainwashed and trained to be a killer. She had been trained along with countless other children, and they had been made to fight against each other and even kill each other. When Brünhild was 8 she already had 6 kills under her belt. Up until that point the brainwashing had been perfect and killing didn't even touch Brünhild. But when she and her platoon of child soldiers were sent out everything changed.
Brünhild would never forget the first time she saw the outside world. How big the sky was or how green the plant life was. She had spent her entire life in an underground testing facility without seeing a glimpse of the outside world. So when Brünhild first laid her eyes on it it was like heaven.
And then it turned into hell.
Brünhild's platoon was mainly designed for infiltration and total annihilation. No survivors. And their first mission was to sneak into enemy territory and kill everyone in a hospital, where they treated enemy soldiers. Naturally Brünhild or her comrades didn't question this and did as they were ordered. But as they entered the hospital and opened fire Brünhild could feel her heart sink and mind break. She killed many innocent people, saw horror on their faces and was smeared in their blood. This scene was ingrained into her mind as deeply as her first glimpse of the outside world.
And that was when Brünhild started to have her own thoughts for the first time.
As the war progressed so did Brünhild's rebellious thoughts. They still kept on testing on her and honing her abilities but this time Brünhild knew something was off. That this wasn't right. Brünhild tried to tell this to the other child soldiers but for some reason they were still firmly brainwashed, and she was the only one waking up.
Every new mission was torture for Brünhild but she had also started developing feelings, and she was scared of disobeying. She had seen what happened to test subjects that were deemed useless, and Brünhild didn't want to die. So she kept playing along, killing innocent people, and every kill also killed a part of her.
Around when she was 12 Brünhild was assigned a special mission, an undercover mission. As she was among the most excelled among her platoon the higher-ups trusted Brünhild was blindly loyal to them. So they sent her to be a personal bodyguard to a government official, who was suspected of working against the Führer. In truth Brünhild was meant to keep an eye on him and report any suspicious activity. And, if necessary, eliminate him.
This man, named Rubert, was an intelligent and righteous individual. He knew right from the start what Brünhild was sent over for, and he also voiced it. He admitted he had been working against the government, and if he was going to get killed better get it over with. His work here was done.
But at this point Brünhild was on a tipping point. Her mind, frail and tired, was ready to break if she killed one more innocent people who didn't deserve it. So she refused to pull the trigger. This surprised both Brünhild and Rubert, and the two formed a special bond.
Rubert was a kind person and he could see Brünhild's distress, and how close to insanity she was. He helped her, he taught her academics and told her about the world. He even told her about the Veil.
Rubert opened Brünhild's eyes wide open, and tipped her mind towards the better direction. Brünhild looked up to Rubert as a father figure and a mentor. She spent nearly 2 years with him on this undercover mission, and those years were enough to make Brünhild a whole different person.
The war was ending and that meant Rubert had to flee the country. And he wanted to take Brünhild with him. But Brünhild, thanks to Rubert's influence, refused to leave the rest of her fellow child soldiers into the government's hands. So, with a heavy heart, Rubert let Brünhild go. He told her to hurry, as he knew that Germany would be on the losing side of this war.
Brünhild was called back and she returned to the underground testing facility, her home base, after two years. At first she didn't draw any attention to herself and worked behind the scenes, doing small saboutage and talking to her comrades. Brünhild told them all the things Rubert had told her, told them about the world and it's ways and even about the Veil, as all of them had special abilities. Brünhild slowly but surely opened their eyes in the span of few months, and they all decided to escape the facility together.
But the day before Brünhild and her comrades were supposed to escape an order came from the government to shut down the facility and eliminate all the test subjects. The sleeping corridors were raided by armed men that same night and they opened fire on the sleeping Brünhild and the rest of the subjects. Many were killed but almost as many woke up on time to avoid worst injuries. Brünhild was shot to the side and both legs. But despite that she and the other survivors attacked the shooters and were able to eliminate them. And like that their plans changed. They would escape tonight.
Brünhild and her comrades ran through the corridors, eliminating anyone who tried to stop them. Some of the survivors died along the way from blood loss and some were shot. It killed Brünhild to leave anyone behind but she knew she had to save as many of them as possible. So they kept going. Eventually Brünhild and the five or so survivors were able to escape outside and from then on they dispersed, having a bigger chance of survival alone. Brünhild never saw them again.
Brünhild was able to flee the country and her objective was to find Rubert. But when she found his allies they informed Brünhild that Rubert had been killed, most likely by her creators and former commanders. This was a great shock for Brünhild, and though Rubert's allies offered to house her she ran away on her own.
Brünhild mourned for many months, not sure how to handle all the sorrow and anger, bottomless anger, inside of her. But something inside her told Brünhild what to do.
She should kill them. Kill them. They deserve it.

All the humans that had been a part of her creation were either killed by others or punished as the war came to a close. But Brünhild noticed, that none of the supernatural creatures incolved were captured. She made it her mission to track them down and extract revenge.
But it took Brünhild a long time to even find a clue of her first target, as she was not used to operating independently. But she adjusted and around 1962 Brünhild killed a vampire, that had been a part of the team that created her and her comrades. From there Brünhild got better at utilizing her predator instincts and became a master tracker. And even better killer.
