While Arthur wouldn't exclusively say that he lived in his office, he did spend an above average amount of time there. Sleeping there 3 nights out of 7 didn't exactly count as living. He had tried to justify this by a variety of ways, mostly owing to him being one of the only practicing attorneys on Manta Carlos, but the workload was never high enough to require him to really stay overnight. Leaving at 7, 8, maybe. But not overnight.

So far nobody had complained. He was pretty sure that Theo knew, but Theo was a nice kid. Not the type to go blurting it out to everybody.

At some point during his first year here, he had brought a bed and some sheets in, and the storage room had became a second home of sorts. It was a Wednesday night, approaching 10PM, and he was planning to head to bed soon, showered and changed. He had no reason to be here, but he had no reason to be anywhere else. On the days that he did head home, he opened the door to an empty house. So he stayed.

Oh, how they grow up so fast. Klef’s announcement that she would be applying to an internship at a law firm was not unexpected, nor did the news that the interview went well. Actually, Juniper was rather proud, she was his child after all. The only baffling thing about this whole afternoon was how she managed to leave her cane in the office. Her sight was improving, slowly, but it was still necessary. She only remembered after the fact, as they were headed off to get dinner, a good three hours or so after the firm closed. After making sure Klef got home safely, Juniper set out to visit Nyström Law Associates.

The walk was not as long as expected, but he still arrived around ten at night. As he approached the building, it struck him odd that the firm’s floor was lit up so late at night. Then again, there was nocturnal classes, might as well have nocturnal law firms while they’re at it. The door was not locked, nor was the one to the stairs. It was only as Juniper reached the floor of the firm that he realized that this might be what one considers trespassing, and trespassing a law firm of all places would not look good on his record. He placed a little bit of hope in his good looks and charm… and powers as a last resort. There was no receptionist at the lobby desk, or any light on besides one at the corner that he recognized as the one Klef described earlier. As a safety measurement, he had looked up Arthur Nystrom before agreeing to let her apply. Arthur was born in the regular world as well, meaning he probably would have heard of a famous television star such as himself.

“ Sorry to bother you.” Juniper chimed, having knocked on the office door. “ You see, I’m here to pick up something.”
