Classes were over for the day, Orsick had opted to head to the gym after visiting with his father for a bit. It was one of his preferred spots. People were around, but rarely did they bother him. This ongoing saga of trying to mend his relationship with his friend Ravina seemed to have taken several steps back. Especially after the most recent incident. The dragon huffed a sigh before pulling a Rubix cube out of his bag, turning the faces without even looking at the puzzle. He was almost in a trance. Titus said the two of them really needed to talk. Maybe if they did that much things could start to get better. He hoped that would help.

A couple minutes had gone by, Orsick set down the solved puzzle. He'd need to find someone to scramble it for him again. He had some things he needed to tell her too. The gym was mostly empty, a few older kids were playing basketball. "If I keep biting at things no one's gonna wanna be around me," he sighed.

"That's 'cause you gots a strong bite," Ravvy said as she crawled out from under the bleachers."

Spotting the Rubix cube, she snagged it and looked it over with interest. Ravina had never seen a Rubix cube before. Most people didn't play with them. She tried to tug a piece off, but it didn't budge. She turned a few faces. "Whoops..." she said, assuming it must have been broken.

"Yeah, my bite is pretty str- what?" Orsick turned to see Ravvy coming out from beneath the bleachers. Why was he surprised? This was a thing she did a lot, really. A lot of the times he'd be there with her spying on people. He was a bit too dumbfounded to say anything when she took the cube and started trying to figure it out.

"You didn't break it," he took the cube and scrambled the colors up, then handed it back to her. "It's a Rubix cube, you gotta get all six sides to be a different color."

He scooted over a bit so she could sit down. She was here now, having thoroughly caught him off guard. "So what were you doing under there today?"

Ravina took the cube again and blinked at it as she tried to work it out. Ravvy crawled out from under the bleachers and sat beside Orsick. It didn't take her long before she gave up on the Rubix cube.

"I was crawlin' around listenin' to people." Ravvy shrugged as if this was no big deal. "Why ye sittin' all alone?"

"I was talking to Titus. Then...I dunno, just thinking about how bad I got the other day. I didn't trust that guy, but I shouldn't have yelled at you and Brailan like that," he took the cube back after Ravvy had given up and started solving it again. He looked at her and smiled faintly, he was glad that she was here, but also a bit nervous too.

He placed the solved cube down in front of him. "I don't wanna just scare everyone away. But mostly you out of everyone."

Ravvy was quiet as she listened to Orsick. She pushed her hands together and wrung them, trying to figure out what she was meant to say.

"I'm not stupid," she told him as if she assumed he thought she was. "If I trust someone, I got a reason and even if you don't like 'em doesn't mean you... you have to push me away."

Ravina wondered why he didn't want to push her away the most, but she didn't want to ask that question because she didn't think she'd have a reply for whatever information she found out.

"I know you're not stupid. I guess it was more what if he was tricking us? Titus says you gotta watch out for people like that. That's kinda what I was trying to say. But still, it was lousy of me to go off on you like that," he stared at the ground, kicking his feet. "I guess I still just wanna be your knight, but I don't think you want that anymore."

He let out a tiny non-threatening growl and shifted into his dragon form. He was always more comfortable like this, he moved to the row behind theirs and settled so he could still rest his head next to Ravvy. This was more comfortable for him, he could detect more without his eyes. He'd gotten a bit bigger in this form since they'd known each other. His scales seemed to glisten in the light, and his horns were looking a bit more pronounced, a fierce predator even for his age. He was a bit taller than a tiger, but thanks to his tail, definitely longer.

"You're doing okay though right? Like you'd tell me if you weren't wouldn't you?"

"Yeah," Ravvy said, waiting for him to get comfortable with his head rested near her. Ravvy turned so she could rest her chin on her hands, her head next to his on the bleachers.

"After goin' to grandda's kingdom, I think I kinda wanna be like me mam. I wanna be me own knight."

Ravvy was quiet momentarily before she reached out and ran a hand over his sharp horns. He was much bigger than she remembered him. Orsick and all the others were growing so fast, and Ravina still felt small and meek.

She sighed.

"I dunno if nothing is wrong," she told him sincerely, dialect heightening with her anxiety. "I just feel gross inside."

He made a sort of quiet trilling noise as he listened to Ravvy. Truth be told, he felt a bit like the odd one out within the group. Everyone seemed to have something in their lives that was some sort of trial by fire. Dalia had her heritage. Jax grew up in the woods like a wolf. Ravvy from what it sounded like, came from someplace less than pleasant and now there was this whole thing with her grandfather.

"Your own knight huh? I think you can do it," he tilted his head a bit in Ravvy's general direction in response to his horns being touched. He couldn't feel it, however he could still sense the movement. He could detect everything around him fairly accurately in spite of not being able to see. "You sound more grown up than me when you say stuff like that, so I know you can do it. Maybe you already are your own knight."

Orsick wasn't quite sure what to say to her. On one hand she sounded like she'd figured some things out, on the other maybe not? Titus said life was weird and kind of tricky. Maybe it was something akin to his own feelings sometimes. "I don't know if you're like me, but sometimes I don't feel like I'm good enough to hang out with you guys. It's hard to just explain, but it's just a feeling I get sometimes."

"Me too," Ravina responded, gently stroking Orsick's head. He was warmer than he looked in his Dragon form and his scales were smoother and finer than people probably would have thought they'd be.

She sighed somewhat dreamily as the quiet stretched between them, finally broken by Orsick's admission. Ravina was quiet as she listened to him, still gently petting his snout, head, and horns.

"I don't feel like that," she told him thoughtfully. "I guess I never had friends te feel like I was better or worse than. I never even thought about it until now...

"But sometimes when I'm with you I feel more like a kid than when I'm with mam or mama. You always know a lot, and you're always real responsible."
