{Thusa}

~ ~ ~

Thusa had been growing on this cliff at the very edge of the Forbidden Forest for thousands of years. SOme of those years were silent. Some were noisy. And then some were silent again.

Years and years and years had passed. No creatures capable of conversation had come to talk to Thusa in such a long time. Despite it's normal aversion to beginning conversations, Thusa had decided several days ago that the next being to wander near her was going to be talked to. It was growing mildly bored. Years didn't mean much to a tree, especially not one as old as Thusa, but decades? That was different. Thusa felt the sky dim and the nourishing sun rays begin to vanish. It felt the squirrels skitter over its branches and the insects land gently on its needles. It felt a persistent, but gentle breeze, which was perfect for the task it had in mind. It waited.

A vibration traveled through Thusa's roots some time later. It was a being. It was not an animal. Emotions were fairly new to Thusa, but it was sure that a human would call this feeling excitement. Thusa adjusted its needles just as the wind picked up. The breeze blew through its needles and produced an echoing, low voice.

"Eh..lo..." It murmured. Thusa was out of practice, so the greeting sounded a bit muddled. It tried again. "Hhhhello..."

Thusa felt for vibrations intently, hoping that it's greeting would not scare the being away.
