Appearance Description: Thusa is a massive, gnarled tree. Its branches are twisted and mostly bare. It has one remaining area covered in pine needles.
Personality Description: Thusa is pensive, stoic, and wise. It tends to speak vaguely, since the scope of a 3500 year old tree is a bit different from that of a human. When angered, sad, or particularly happy, Thusa is silent.
It doesn't mind speaking, but is bothered by excessive questions. Despite not understanding humans and other bipedal creatures very much, Thusa loves all life and enjoys participating in the lives of many creatures. As far as trees go, Thusa is fairly friendly.
Powers:
Thusa can only use its powers during night. As a tree, it is too busy photosynthesizing while the sun is up to focus on anything else.
Gift of Speech: As a result of gained sentience, Thusa has learned how to speak in breezes. As wind blows through its branches, Thusa is able to manipulate its needles and branches subtly, creating vibrations in the form of language. Thusa can not speak if the air is incredibly still, and can only speak loudly if the wind blows hard.
Mild Prophesy: As a result of thousands of years of life and observation, Thusa has gained an extraordinary understanding of cause and effect. This, all though not true psychic ability, allows Thusa to predict events with 80-90% + accuracy. Thusa can only predict events that she has witnessed the causes of. For example, if something happens within a few miles, Thusa can sense it, and predict a few highly likely outcomes, but if it is only told about an event that occurred inside the school or far away, it can only make guesses with ~70% accuracy. Biography: Thusa used to be a non-sentient tree. After about 2,000 years of life, the beginning of a consciousness formed. The frequent magical events of the island are a likely cause. For the last 1,500 years, this consciousness has grown. Now, Thusa can understand speech, speak, and see by feeling vibrations in the air and ground.
In the past, Thusa had been sought after by students and citizens of Manta Carlos as a source of wisdom, but has been forgotten for many years. Thusa doesn't know that any of the living residents of the island even know that it can talk. Thusa is content to be silent, but is beginning to get a little bored after decades of silence and no interaction from self-aware beings.
Additional Information: Thusa is immobile and lives on a windswept cliff overlooking the Forbidden Forest to the north of the school.
