Matilda woke up to more stabbing pain. One of the little bastards was gnawing on her foot. A quick zap later and he was a smoldering pile of ash in the back of her van. She toed the mess off a ledge in the other dimension and made a face. What a wake up call. She went through her morning routine in a haze, not yet caffeinated enough to really try too hard: brushing her teeth, braiding her hair into a ponytail, giving herself a quick wash with some of those lavender scented wet wipes. She was saving her tri-weekly shower for after what she had to do today.

What she had to do was not going to be fun.

Stepping out of the back of the van, she briefly considered calling Diana before she headed out. Surely the other unlucky lass had seen the big fuck off monster skulking around the city. She needed to kill it before it got the drop on her. Because they somehow always managed to get the drop on her if she didn't take the initiative.

She was dressed about as opposite of a hero as you could expect: sweat pants and construction boots, a t-shirt and a jacket zipped up against the cold. Her wallet and phone had been left in her locked van, the ladder having a recently sent text to Diana about the monster and where Matilda was going to fight it. Her keys were hidden in a compartment behind the driver side tire that she had hollowed out years ago.

She meandered her way towards the monster's location, sipping on the coffee and munching the croissant she had bought on her way. She just needed a little pick me up for the moment, but she'd eat properly after she had killed the damnable thing. There was a resignation in her whole posture, exactly like someone who hated their job but was just doing it because what else was there for her?

Diana's day has been pretty much standard so far. . . .well as standard as living between two worlds and fighting off invisible monsters can go.

Things has honestly been too slow for Diana ever since being brought to the island. At first it was a nice change of pace getting used to the island and it's people but things eventually just became.....meh.
Diana was used to being on the move and actively hunting down monsters like some big grand adventure. Her being on the island kinda ruined the whole monster hunting adventure stuff. It just wasn't really the same anymore, especially now that she had a part-time job. What kinda hero has a part-time job?

So when she recieved a text from Matilda about a giant monster lurking about she was honestly way too eager to help. Diana gave zero fucks and just dipped out from her job and headed straight to the location Matilda had texted her. It didn't take her too long to get there since she was able to hitch a ride on Frío which probably looked weird to everyone she passed by who can't see him.
Diana and Frío's was defintely dramatic and heroic. They charged right on towards where the fight was taking place with all the bravodo and swagger of some smug ass anime character. Despite her grand entrance, it was probably clear that Diana wasn't exactly preppared to fight anything. She literally just showed up with nothing but Frío and still she was still in her work clothes.......everything will definitely be fine.

Tilly wasn't fighting quite yet when Diana and Frio arrived. More like she was setting herself up. The beast was asleep, as the big ones sometimes were, but it was obvious that the presence of two Bearers was making it stir.

Tilly was at the top of a two story building, and further on top of a rock that was in the other dimension. A time besides Diana would see her standing on the empty air.

"Hey! Diana hey! Glad ye could make it! He's a right big fucker, ain't he?" She called down, more enthusiastically than she had intended. But Tilly had to admit that it actually made her happy that Diana and Frio were here to help.

"A'm gonna try'n distract 'im. Ye an' Frio go fer 'is legs so 'e cannae run away."

Holding her hands out in front of her and far more confident than she had been in years, Tilly actually called out the name of her hammer in as loud a voice as she could manage. "Come forth, Skelp!"

That did it: the beast was awake. The roar that only Tilly, Diana, and Frio could hear was deafening as the giant monster stirred.

Tilly leapt off of her rocky perch high into the air as her hammer materialized in her hands: massive, golden, and carved with the face of a beautiful, stoic woman with a scar over her eye. With the closest thing to hope she'd felt in a very long time, Tilly swung down with the hammer straight for the beast's head.

Diana glanced up to where Matilda was and just fist pumped towards her. "Y-" Diana caught herself from shouting to avoid waking up big ugly. "Hey....are you ready to kick some monster ass?!" She wasn't shouting but instead whispering very loudly which is way better than shouting.

Diana listened to Matilda's plan which seemed like a good idea. Matilda wanted her and Frío to go for the legs so it couldn't run, which was a smart play. Diana wasn't even aware these things even ran away if they start losing or even how they could considering their size. "Message recieved loud and clear! That's easy stuff."

Diana watched in awe as Matilda stood on top of the rock summoning her hammer like some 80s cartoon main character. It was honestly really cool looking from Diana's view point and Diana couldn't help but grin like a idiot after seeing that. "That. Is. AMAZ-"
Diana's fangirling was cut short when the beast awoke and roared which caused Frío to hop back a couple a feet away from the beast. In response to the roar, Frío let out a growling-bark back.

Diana didn't even realize Matilda had leaped off the rock until she just saw her flying straight at it with her hammer in hand. When Matilda's hammer smacked the shit out of the monster's head, Diana didn't hesistate to make the next move.

She held tightly to Frío's fur and leaned closely to him as she said something in spanish. Frío let out another bark and then immediately made a dash for the beast's legs once Matilda was in the clear. Frío made a quick swipe at one of the monster's leg which left a trail of ice where the scratch marks were. He then quickly turned back around and swiped his claws at the same spot again before darting away from the monster.
With a few more of those, they could probably get that leg frozen which should definitely stop it from running away.

Tilly's hammer made contact with the monster's head alright, and the impact made the air ripple as something on the bone plating covering the beast cracked slightly. Lovely, this was a tough one.

She didn't have time to make a second attack though, as one of the thing's massive tree trunk arms came swinging up at her. "Shite!" was all she managed as it swatted her away like a large hornet or something.

Tilly hit several things on her way through the air: a tree, a light post, and then a wall. Each impact slowed her down just enough that she wasn't just a smear against the bricks, but she was definitely already bruising as she staggered to her feet and then fell again.

Luckily the beast had other things to worry about. Frio's attacks on its legs were a bigger concern than going for the kill on Tilly, and it stumbled as it tried to take a step and found its leg both gashed and slowly freezing.

Diana's focus became split the moment she watch Matilda get swatted away like nothing.
She wanted to check on Matilda but also knew that it might safer just to stick with Frío and keep attacking the monster's leg. Taking down the monster was absolutely the best choice but her main concern was making sure Matilda was safe and also able to continue the fight.
So After another succesful attack from Frío, Diana decided to jump off from Frío so she could go check on Matilda.

Diana had Frío stay behind to keep the monster's attention so she could be able to go help Matilda.
She ran towards were Matilda was while Frío hopefully drew all the monster's aggression away from her and Matilda.

There was a lot of worry on Diana's face when she made it to Matilda, it was mostly because she actually wasn't sure if the other woman's body healed around the same rate as her's. Diana wanted to help Matilda up but she didn't want to cause more damage from moving her if she had like broken ribs or whatever.
"Hey hey, I got you. Are you able to stand or do you need my help?" She said as she reached a hand out to Matilda.

While Diana was with Matilda, Frío was trying to keep the monster distracted and take out one of the legs. He mostly was just running around in circles and barking at it until he had a chance to attack the leg again.

"Oh aye. Right as..." Tilly paused as Diana helped her to her feet, wincing as a sharp pain crawled up her side. She was definitely breathing a bit heavier than normal. Yeah, she'd definitely at least bruised a rib from that hit. Fuck.

Her words came out in short bursts, Tilly saving most of her breath for picking up Skelp and starting to move towards the monster again. "Frio's... a good... boy... yesseis. Just... gotta... beat this... fucker... down..."

However after taking a couple of more steps, Tilly had to pause. It was clear that she was injured beyond what was reasonable for her to keep fighting, even just from the one hit. But she glared and tightened her grip on her hammer, moving again to get back into the fight.

Yuki had just been enjoying an exploration around the area - he'd heard nothing but bad rumours about it but it seemed happy enough - before he was greeted with a flying young woman crashing into a nearby tree. And lamppost. And wall. And not in the shoujo manga kind of way.

The shock sent him falling onto his behind as he watched another woman help her up. "Are you...?!" He called out to the two of them before covering his mouth. They'd notice him! But then again, at this point he'd already started; he may as well commit.

"Are you alright?" He said, rushing over. "I can help." He said, putting on his bravest face. He was handy when it came to first aid, and he could run quickly if need be. Hopefully they wouldn't need any more than that from him. "I'm a qualified first aider, and I can..." He gulped, already rooting through his bag for a medical kit. "I can protect myself if this is that kind of situation."

This was going to be a big problem if Matilda wasn't able to continue on fighting. It was also going to be a problem if she was going to force herself to keep fighting despite her injuries. The idea of retreating was starting to seem like a good idea right about now despite it not beimg the brave and heroic choice.
Diana started to speak but stopped as Matilda just started moving again.

Diana wanted to protest but just as she was about to she heard another voice. She quickly looked around until she spotted rushing over to them. Diana wasn't exactly too sure how to act in this situation. She was a used to actively avoiding fighting monsters away from people. "I uh we are f-....um..."

She stopped and cleared her throat. This guy was apparently a trained medic which was conviently great. "Yes, my friends needs some help... but we are currently uh..." Diana wasn't excatly sure how to explain the situation properly. "Fighting...something....invisible and it can't attack you..."

She didn't have time to go into detail, they were in a middle of a fight and could literally get attacked at any moment if Frío wasn't distracting the monster. "Look if you can help her then help her."

Tilly paused when the kid, who she was pretty sure she had met before, came over declaring that he could help. She looked over at Diana, who was obviously worried about her continuing to fight, and gave Yuki a shrug. Her words came out less labored than before, but a sharp wince accompanied them as she stretched her bruised ribs with each breath. "Ye got any pain killers? Somethin' strong? A'll heal given enough time, but fer now A gotta power through this shite."

"And fer the time bein', A can be artillery," she said, looking over at Diana. Tilly set Skelp standing up, holding onto the haft so that the hammer's head was standing above her. The stony faced woman adorning the front of the hammer opened her mouth and electricity crackled from within the cavity that it formed.

As she charged up a blast, Tilly held out her hand for any pain medicine Yuki happened to have on him. She didn't have time to swallow them whole, and would chew them up despite the acrid bitterness so they would dissolve and get to work faster.

A bolt of lightning, visible only to Diana, Tilly, and Frio, erupted from the mouth of her hammer and struck at one of the icy claw marks that Frio had left. The shock created an explosion, shattering away some of the monster in the process.
