ONE! Laken couldn't stand it anymore! If this insecent boredom proceded he would surely explode. How could any school be so...tedious? It boggled his mind, and then some. School was suppose to be fun, it was suppose to challenge him.
Yeah.
Right.
Mom, Dad. Why the heck did you send me here? It was so much more fun working in Aquarius... he thought as he stared up at the cloudy sky.
Water pot.
Kettle
Fish.
...
dog.
Dog? Where did that come from. There was no dog shaped cloud in the sky!
He was loosing it. And fast. If he didn't find something to do, he was going to scream.
What he really needed was a friend.
yeah...but where am I going to find one of those? he whispered to himself as he rolled over onto his side in the cool grass, closed his eyes, and put his hands behind his head.
Ah, boredom. What a cruel mistress.

She wandered slowly about the lawn, pondering why winter was so cold. It made her wings hurt. She figured that her wings hurt because she was cold, but she couldn't remember if her wings always hurt in winter. She figured that they did. Since they'd been hurting only when it started snowing. Her body was clad in her regular warm clad, a warm light brown suede shirt, with fur lining every edge that faced outwards. Her lower half was covered by a pair of pants very similar to her shirt, aside from the fact that her pants were dark, almost black, brown. In an attempt to keep her wings warm, she let her long hair hang loose down her back, brushing harmlessly against her wings.

She had wandered aimlessly for at least half an hour, before she came upon a boy lying on his back staring up at the sky. She cocked her head. Something about that position didn't look like somebody who was happy to be there. She fluttered her wings for a moment as she pondered what to do. It wasn't much of a pondering. She walked over to him and looked down. She wound kneel or something, but her wings were too long. She cocked her head to the side. "Are you ok?" her voice was quiet, almost sounding like a butterfly singing, if you can immagine that.

Laken rolled over again to look at the new voice. For a moment all he saw was dark brown suede. He looked up into amazingly purple eyes.
Wow, never seen that eye color before....
He groaned and sat up, Mmm, yeah. I'm okay. Those are some interesting eyes you've got there. he said and stood to look her in the face. He was a bit taller than him, although Laken WAS rather tall and was slightly taller than almost everyone. He looked down and smiled at her.
My name is Laken, Laken Reeves. Might I ask who you are?

Neveah grinned, dipping her head in thanks. "Thank-you." was her reply to his comment of her eye color. She took everything as a compliment. She looked up at him, taking in his eye color. "I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure I could say the same about your eyes." ah yes. She often said comments like that. She had these feelings about things, but she couldn't really remember anything that backed them up.

He introduced himself then, and she returned the smile. "Nice to meet you. I'll warn you..I never remember anything...So I'll forget your name." she shrugged lightly, her wings rising and falling with her shoulder blades. "But I'm Neveah."

She extended her hand with the intention of shaking his hand, as she was pretty sure that it was customary to do so. She decided to explian a bit more about her memory. "Anything directly connected to me I remember, but anything that's outside of me, I forget." She shrugged again, smiling lightly.

Laken grinned at her.
Well thank you, that's very kind. Where are you headed Neveah? If you do not mind my asking, that is.
Laken, was alway polite. Maybe even more so to women just because he had never really had any friends that were male and spent most of his time with Visola. She had always nagged him about how he had to be nice to girls, had to compliment them, their hair was always nice, their shoes were always adorable, blah blah blah blah blah.
She was such a nagger.
Oh well, he got used to it.

"Well thank you, that's very kind. Where are you headed Neveah? If you do not mind my asking, that is."

Neveah laughed. She found the question very funny, mostly, because she didn't know the answer. "I don't remember." She smiled, still amused at her answer. It took very little to amuse her, and this was one of those things. "Normally, I'd have butterflies to store my memories. But it's too cold now." That was one thing she always remembered. She always remembered that she could speak to butterflies, and they could speak to her.

She shifted her weight, wings opening and closing slowly. It was an automatic thing, just as it was for butterflies. "I hope you don't mind that I'll never call you by your name. Because I forgot it already. I'll remember that I know you, but I won't remember your name." She was rather blunt, true, but somehow, she had a feeling that more things were accomplished that way. Most of her memories were feelings. She always trusted her feelings. And faces. She always remembered faces. But that was about it. She was the highest of the absent minded.

Laken chuckled lightly. This girl was a bit of a ditz, but she seemed nice.
So, Neveah, because I can remember your name, he said jokingly. those wings you have there, can you fly with them? I only ask because I have seen people with wings that seem incapable of flying. I think I may have even seen one with merely bone protruding from his back. he said with a shrug.
All this merely standing around was driving him nuts. He had to move, he walked over to a tree and hopped up grabbing hold of a branch, and pulling himself up. He continued to climb limb from limb. When he was about half way up he realized that he had been quite rude.
Oh, please forgive me for being rude. Please still answer, that is if you remember the question. he said with a wink to show that he was joking. He wasn't sure if she saw it though.

She didn't really think much of it when Laken went to climb a tree. She knew what it felt like to do that. She fluttered after him, lifting herself up off the ground with her wings. When he apologized, she was fluttering at eye level with him. Instead of standing, she had pulled her legs into a crosslegged position as she fluttered. "I think I just did..." was her reply to his question, and she smiled cheerfully, eyes glittering with her blissful unawareness.

"Do you like butterflies?" she asked randomly, after a few minutes of silence. She loved butterflies. She loved to be around butterflies. It was a good thing that she did, since wherever she was, there was always butterflies around her. Unless it was winter.

Laken jumped a little bit, he hadn't heard the fluttering when she had flown up by him, he hadn't expected it.
After his pulse slowed down a little he smiled.
Yeah, I like butterflys. They're beautiful. Too bad they aren't around during this time of year. he said with a shrug and watched as she pulled herself into the criss cross sitting position.
It was odd how nonchalant she floated there.
So...uhh...do you know what you like to do for fun, Neveah? he asked making small talk...he didn't know what to ask her...

Neveah cocked her head to the side for a moment. He seemed to be a little skittish. Maybe she'd frightened him with her sudden appearance. She shrugged then, at his question, dropping her altitude slightly as her wings ceased fluttering with the slight moment. It didn't startle her at all, and she was right back to where she had been. "I..I really like to read. Since I can never what I read in books, everytime I read one, it's brand new. And I like to draw. But I'm not very good at it..." she paused, looking up as though it would help her remember things that escaped her mind. "If there were butterflies, I'd spend all my time with them. They're really fun you know, good conversationalists. They've got good senses of humor too." she blushed slightly. "I'm sorry. I'm rambling." she apologized with a small smile, blowing a stray strand of hair out of her eyes as she looked at him. Small talk was absolutely stupid in the winter time, because she never remembered what anybody said anyways, but it was only right to be polite. "You?" she cocked her head to the side, a small smile winding it's way onto her face.
