He smirked. "Ah, the usual teenage rebel." he said with a small chuckle.

"Ignore them. They're just spoiled brats who think just because they have powers, they're better than everyone else. Total bull, if you ask me."

He turned his head to look at her. "And hey, at least you have parents right? And besides, I highly doubt they hate you..."he said kind of quietly, with just a pinch of bitterness. Not that he meant it, of course.

Danica half smiled. "Thanks..." It kind of made her feel better, but it kind of didn't. At least I have parents? Does that mean he doesn't? Oh, no, now I made him feel bad...

"Er... yeah, at least I do have parents. They just... sent me here because they didn't want people to know I had powers..." She twirled her hair around her fingertips.

"Well, then they aren't too good of parents, are they?" he said.

"Don't worry about them anyway. Be glad you have this gift, even if it doesn't seem like one now. Everything happens for a reason." he said.

He yawned. He had been thinking, this girl was pretty... nice. She was good looking, and they had quite a few things in common.

'Come on, you idiot, listen to yourself! She could hurt you!'

He thought a little bit longer before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

'Well, a little pain never does anyone harm.' he thought before chuckling a small bit. That was quite the paradox.

"So, you goin to the dance with anyone?" he asked dully, trying not to let any emotion into his voice.

She smiled. Everything happens for a reason... It made sense, didn't it? Danica wondered why she hadn't thought of that before. She had her theories on the past, how what was done was done, but that did relate to this...

She was startled out of her thoughts by his question "Are you going to the dance with anyone?" She shook her head. Where was this going? She had to say no in a way that said she didn't have a date, but she was going to go. "Not yet..."

'Well, let's just ask in a way where I can still seem like the emotionless freak I am...' he thought to himself.

After a few seconds of thought, he shrugged. "How about you go with me?" he said monotonely. "At least we won't be bored lonely."

Danica blinked a few times, trying to comprehend what he'd said. How about you go with me? At least we won't be bored lonely? She repeated it to herself a few times. Man, I'm slow... she thought. What did he say? Do I have to ask what he said? Oh... now I get it... "Uh... sure! Yeah! I'd love to!" She smiled.

"Probably..." She hadn't really thought about it. Right now she was wearing a green t-shirt and jeans, but that didn't go... maybe she would wash the dye out... It was just for one night, right?

Oh, and what if they expected her to wear a dress? No way. She knew she couldn't wear jeans, but she was not wearing a skirt.
