"I'm here to return these books miss!" squeaked Amber as she lifts herself on the very tips of her craws to place the books on the counter for the librarian to take.

"My my... such the eager reader you are... you must make your parents proud" she croaked, putting a grandmotherly smile for her as she slid the books away.

"Yep!" happily cheered Amber "My mom likes to brag about how much I read for not even being one year old yet!"

This proclamation caught the old kindly lady off guard, clearly surprised by something she said. At first she thought she may have been a little too loud but then deduced that she may have expected her to have far older. After all, despite her spidery bits she would like a girl of the age of eleven or twelve. Even her best friends often forget that she has yet to seen her first birthday.

"Oh... sorry if I was a little too loud." apologized in a whisper Amber, just in case she was too loud afterall "I'm going to go look at some more books. T-thank you!"

The lady just smile and nodded before resuming her previous work. Amber quickly skittered off randomly down one of the many aisles. As she looked around... she noticed that she rushed into the historical section of books. While this wasn't her intended destination, now that she was here she might as well take a gander. Afterall, she liked learning about history and she hoped that next school year they would go more in depth with world history. At first glance, all of the books surrounding seem interesting... even if they are a bit dusty.

There were few things that made Evander happier than looking through the history section of the academy's library. There was something there for almost any aspect of history he might have been interested, be it the decline of Rome or the conquests of Árpád and the Magyars in the 10th century. At the moment, though, he was looking through some more recent events.

"Hmm..... The First World War, or the Franco-Prussian War.... " the gryphon thought, a talon running along the spines of a couple of large, bulky texts as he pondered his reading selection for the week. Normally, he would have sank his beak into a specific area of Roman history, but there wasn't much material on what he was looking for, so instead he settled for some modern history for a change of pace. "Plenty of material on both, but only so much time during the day..." Evander muttered with a sigh. His ears perked up at the sound of foot steps on the other side of the shelf, but he paid it no mind; the library was a public space, much as the gryphon would have wanted otherwise.

Amber was used to seeing all sorts of body shapes on the island but... as she made her down aisle can't help but gawk at tiny fluffy griffin creature looking at books. It was so... small! It was wearing a hat! It was just to adorable for her handle! So while the griffin was too busy searching for books, the spider girl stated at him in wonder and awe, inching stealth-fully closer to him until there was only a few feet of distance between them. Now that she was so close she... she should say something before he judges her to be creep of sorts. But... what to ask him?

"Sooo... you like history books too?" she asked, it was... well something to get the conversation started at least. She could feel her mouth contorting into some sort of stupid grin but she couldn't help but feel excited for meeting a baby griffin! Okey prehaps not a baby but he would appear to be a child in her eyes for she imagine griffins to be way bigger. Yet for one so young they seem rather well read and... and they looked SO super fluffy up close! She wanted to pet them... would that be too rude to ask?

Nothing escaped Evander's sensitive hearing; he heard the girl approaching even as his eyes focused on the books on the shelf in front of him. A faint smile crept up the corners of his beak as he listened to her question, perhaps a bit happy that there was a fellow history nerd in the building.

"Why, yes, I do happen tae like history. It's mighty interestin' once ya get past all the borin' bits that everybody already knows about," the gryphon replied with his peculiar accent as he tilted his feathery head to face his new acquaintance, his deep red eyes studying the eight-legged spider girl without so much a look of surprise as it was curiosity; he'd only seen a couple of other creatures like her in the entire academy, but he knew none of them personally. "So... what brings you tae the history section?"

Amber was a little embarrassed at this point, if her rosy cheeks were not already a big give away ready. She really wanted to say it was her love of history which is true but... she had to admit to herself that she really wander down her just to say hello to the baby Griffin. Okay perhaps he wasn't exactly a baby but he still struck her as young at least.

"Oh... well I was hoping to find book about Roman history but... I saw you down here so I wanted to say hi." stated Amber smiling to the griffin before she continued "Say hi and... m-maybe let me pet your feathers a little?" admitted Amber, grinning sheepishly. She didn't want to appear rude but... his feathers looked so FLUFFY that she must pet them!

"I mean... if you allow m-me that is. I-ifs that rude I'm sorry... I just... never a griffin before!" she squeaked happily, before covering her mouth with her hands as she realizes that she maybe has been a bit too loud in her excitement.
