Leave it to a ghost girl to become part of the library.
Well, not literally - she wasn't too fond of the idea of becoming a brick, or a roof tile, or any other architectural staple of her favorite place, but the atmosphere had a sort of calming effect on her, and she'd spent more time here than in any other place on the island, including the campuses.
At the moment, Aswan was curled up on the floor near the wall, using a beanbag chair as a pillow. She'd propped her head up on the beanbag chair and was reading from a very thick book, its title hidden by her pale fingers. About halfway through, she paused and let out a sigh as she rolled onto her back, holding the book in the air.
"How could I have missed it? Ahhh, it was obvious from page one...!"
Huh, perhaps she was less perceptive than she thought. Sitting up slowly, she tried to test her perception against her surroudings. There were the shelves of ghostly fiction over there... and behind her were autobiographies from famous ghosts... over there were the rows and rows of studying desks...?
Blinking hard, she refocused on a beacon-like light near the entrance to the library.
What was that?

Shay frequented the library enough. Truth was, libraries were a mixed boat for her. On one hand, they reminded her of bad things, but she'd also met and befriended her lifelong friend in one.

Right now, Shay was just on a mission to find a book on business management for an essay. For its part, the library was mostly unoccupied. It followed the college law of 'those in here were quiet and kept to themselves' rather than that elementary 'this place is noisy as Hell.'

Curiosity got the better of Aswan, and she got up from the ground, leaving her book facedown nearby. It would just be for a bit, she assured the book/herself, and then she would return. In the meantime...
She quietly stepped over to the source of the glowing light, drawing conclusions in her head. Perhaps it was an alien with photoprojective abilities, or a star form of some sort? Ah, but that wouldn't explain being drawn to it, if partly out of curiosity. Perhaps a person carrying a beacon?
Getting closer, she realized it wasn't at all those - but a person that glowed rather like one.

"Er... excuse me, but how are you glowing like that?"

Shay looked over, not particularly startled by the intrusion. For a moment, she was confused. It'd been a long time since someone actually approached her about her ability.

Shay looked down at herself, as though she'd see herself glowing (she didn't). "Oh. Uh. It's a Reaper thing, I guess? I call spirits and ghosts to me. Really all things without physical form. It's something about helping people move on... or just helping them. Sorry if it's annoying, but I can't turn it off."

Eroshay turned to scan the book titles with her eyes briefly before adjusting herself so she was facing Aswan.

"Ah, how strange.... fascinating! It doesn't bother me in the least, but it did strike my curiosity. I - I've never seen something like that in all my time here... or if I have I don't remember it."

Much like a bee, Aswan practically buzzed around Shay, taking in everything she could. Her lips moved silently, making mental notes to herself, with an almost mad-scientist-like demeanor.

"Hmmm... You can't turn it off, you say? Fascinating... And it calls spirits to you? For help... to move on.. Well, none of that for me, at least, no ma'am. Fascinating, simply fascinating!"

It was almost comical how she was rambling, mostly to herself - then her eyes went wide, as if in realization. "Ah, how rude - I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Aswan Gomari."

Shay grinned, nervously, at first, but then with more confidence. "How long have you been here?"

Shay hadn't asked because it was a common ability, not by a long shot, but she was interested anyway. Her abilities were weird. She was weird. Even by island standards.

"Not just help to move on. Help in general. Hm. Like I said, I'm a Reaper. It's our job to hel--"

Shay cut herself off, clearly trying not to laugh a little at Aswan's rambling and all-around squirrely attitude. She was cute, Shay thought, but Shay wouldn't say it.

"Pleasure to meet you Aswan Gomari. I'm Eroshay Power and... No, I'm not going to make that joke." Shay made a zipping motion over her lips.
