Book Buddies

Joseph didn't get a lot of complements from anyone at all so it always made him really happy on the inside but he never really showed it because for some silly reason he was embarrassed of it, which made no sense but i guess he saw taking complements as being weak. But he was around a friend and he didn't want to be rude as his mother told him to use his manners which he only really used around friends."Oh..... i'm nothing really...... you guys are much more cool and stuff..... i'm just a creepy kid who reads....... your..... whats the word... charming? I dunno i think its charming.... people like you" he said and shrugged.

Which power would he have, it was a good question well there were two things on his mind. One immortality because he wanted to live forever with his new found friends, he envied the fact that they could live so much longer and feared they might one day forget him. Second off was just the power to make blood out of tin air, it would be sure useful and he would be super powerful if he had this ability."Umm.... immortality...... of course and probably some power that lets me make more blood.... so i didn't have to carry it around all the time.....".

"Hmm" he paused and thought if he used the correct words for a moment before snapping back out of his train of thought."Yea i believe charming would be the correct word......" he said and shrugged. He really didn't think anything of it, she was his friend and he simply told her what he had thought of her. Sure maybe he did feel something but it wasn't much, he was just really happy that she had come to read with him. Perhaps maybe he would ask her to help him read up more about his powers and learn something together while keeping each other company. He smiled a little as he thought of this idea because he was used to doing things like this by his self.

He watched Amber for a moment wondering what she was doing with her hair and then it hit him. Did she think he was being flirty or something? His face turned red and he quickly looked down for a moment, Joe never really thought about it until now. No that couldn't be it, he thought as he regained his facial colors and put on his dull expression. Just put it out of your mind Joseph, he wasn't good with things like this at all and was happy to hear Ambers comment on how he cheated to change the whole subject.

Well...... i didn't know if immortality was considered a power..... so i just picked that other one just incase it wasn't.... i don't wanna look stupid in front of anyone....." he looked off to the side for a second and then back at her.

"Y-yeah...... playing it safe.....didn't mean to you know.... say it in a cheater kind of way..... i was just unsure about it...... just as i am unsure about lots of things" he said and sighed. Although Joseph had read many books and studied lots of things, places, and people in his free time he still had so much to learn. Mostly about him self, it was an odd way to put it but Joseph really didn't even know him self well. Most of his childhood was bad and go no free time, he didn't know whether he liked a person or not or what he was going to do with his life, heck he didn't even know what his powers exactly were.

"mmm..... i honestly think its just something..... you're born with or given..... kinda like a birth mark or a permeant scar, its always going to be there...... i think..... i'm still not quite sure. Powers are more flashy, useful, and coolish...... like a laser beam or being able to stop time..... now those are what i call a power.... hehe.... its call power for a reason after all" he said and smiled for a brief moment.

"Hmm super heros....... movies..... two things i haven't seen in a long time.... and practically anyone on this island could be a superhero....... almost all of us are supernatural in a way....... just replace the word natural with hero and.... there you go. I kind of prefer the anti heros though...... the ones that have their own causes....... fight for what they want...... not the public" he mentioned.

Super? He didn't really see him self as a "super" person, Joe's views on him self were quite simple actually. He didn't see him self as a bad person and likes how he was, but he also didn't see him self as a good person he was simply just there."super....... nah I'm just some creepy guy, you know......." he said still visibly red as he read his own book." Plenty of time you're right maybe I should just....... tone it down a bit".

"I know right...... but its not my fault that all the other kids thing that.... its honestly just them trying to get to me...... but i don't really care. Besides i don't need lots and lots of friends...... i'm perfectly happy with you guys, you guys are pretty great. I doubt the people who call me names have any friends either" he rolled his eyes as he finished. Joe did some what care what others thought about him but he cared about what his friends thought much more. He kind of expected to be called name when he first came to the island because he really did give off a creepy vibe.

Joseph let off a chuckle as Amber boasted a little about herself."Well..... i haven't really met all of your sisters but..... it sure does seem that way. Probably more so other things too....." he said and turned the page in his book with a smug smile spread across his face.
