Book Buddies

There was no hiding the fact that Joe liked books, so he decided he might as well tell her."heh........ who am i fooling, yea i hold books are pretty close to me because....... back when i didn't have such good friends like you...... i just read and wrote. All day long thats all i would do..... and then i meet some of you guys..... and now its pretty nice, much better then before".

Joe opened his bag up and started to rummage through it. He had his note book and one other book that he signed out about elemental powers, he signed this one out to see if his powers were considered to be elemental but he hadn't found and thing on his powers in this book yet."Yea..... i got my note book and this..... one about elemental powers. Some interesting stuff in there...... but nothing to go wild about" he said waving his hand in the air.

"...... Yeah.... you're right i guess i do have a book friend now..... book friend sounds kinda lame..... ehh you're just a friend who i read books with...... why am i over complicating things" he said and snickered a little. He found his own self dragging on like that to amusing somehow and he was pretty happy that he finally had someone to read with.

"Its pretty neat..... yeah, i think that its good to learn about everything power wise..... because many powers have weaknesses and it might prove useful in the future some how. Animorphs huh.... never heard of it.... tell me a bit more about it" he said and walked over to the table she was standing near. He pulled up a chair and sat down plopping his bag next to his chair and putting his opened book on powers on the table.

Joseph kinda rolled his eyes in a playful matter when she asked him about what he wrote about, he had been asked this question many times before."Everything...... my experiences... the people i meet here and what i think of them..... a little bit of power stuff.... you can read it if you want.... i trust you" he said and pulled his notebook out of his bag once more and putting it on the table near her.

"Hmmm.... bookies..... uhh i guess that name is good, i mean i probably couldn't think of anything better....... bookies it is" he said and snickered a little bit. The name bookies was silly to Joseph and usually he would be against an idea of calling them selfs such a silly name. But Amber seemed really nice and genuine and it wasn't like there was anyone around to make fun of them.

She was right, powers could do lots and the fact he could get things done more easy with his own, this intrigued the boy even more."Powers define a lot for me..... the whole reason i'm here is because of my powers..... must be a way of life for some people". He then stoped speaking and listened closely to what Amber had to say about her book, nodding every once and a while to show that he was engaged in what she was saying."Wow...... that acually sounds pretty cool..... the Yeerks sound really creepy...... can't imagine anything taking over my mind. No... its fine i ramble on about things too..... and you did explain it pretty well" he said and had a small smirk on his face before dropping it back into his dull expression.

He eyed Amber as she held it up in front of her, he knew that she wanted to open it. I mean who wouldn't, most people would probably open it too, to find out the inner workings of Joseph and was quite surprised to she the serious expression on her face and decided he would have a little fun with it." Thats up to you... i'm fine with it, but i know you really want to see whats in there...... don't you want to figure out how i think...... discover the endless amounts of knowledge..... open it at your own cost" he tease and smirked. There was no cost what so ever and there wasn't endless amounts of knowledge either, he just wanted to see how she reacted.

He looked at her funny when she mentioned curses and magical wards."Amber...... i just got to this place.... a while ago i bearly have a grasp on magic...... if any grasp at all..... i trust you.....". He was right he had no idea whether he could even do magic at all besides his powers which he didn't even know if they were considered magic. But the idea of cursing a book or whatever a magic ward was sounded really cool to him.

The book was filled with knowledge of the people he meet on the island and his experiences, tons of pages were filled with profile like writings for all the people that he meet and a single word next to their name to sum up what he thought of them. Such as Dalia's was great, there was one on Eek his fae friend and it said timid and so on and so forth. There was a page on Amber but it wasn't much since it was before they got really buddy buddy, the single word was cute and the page read "One of Dalia's sister that i don't know much about other then Dalia telling me she was a nerd, doesn't really seem like it. Ill write more when i get to know her better, if i ever get to". At the end of his book it was filled with little drawings and doodles which were mostly childish and a good five pages filled with stuff on powers including weaknesses, strengths and a bit about what his own powers could do.

Joseph appreciated thats she apologized to him even thought whats she said wasn't really anything bad at all, it did sound like an accusation though. He could tell that Amber was getting kind of awkward as she explained what it meant."Its fine...... heh...... i was just saying that i'm bad at all this magic stuff..... but it would be an interesting thing to learn one day....... maybe get another power...... maybe one that is less creepy then all this blood stuff right?".

He snickered a bit when amber mentioned the name calling."Ahh its fine..... i don't really think you're a nerd....... just smart and kind...... nothing to be ashamed about there..... right? I mean..... i read and write down stuff all day long..... and i get called creepy......".

Of course he had things to write about her now, many things acually. She was his friend and very nice and polite. She knew how to talk and lots of things and liked to read books and if not now then when Joe got back to his dorm he would probably write this down. Not that he needed it for future reference but it felt good to him to write down his friends praises."Mmhm...... tons for a matter of a fact..... you're an interesting person" he said and smiled before looking back down to his own book.
