Van set out his tea set, the batch was freshly brewed, though he prefered coffee he still enjoyed tea occasionally, he poured to cups, one for himself which he added blood to, and another for young Aylin. The poor Lamia girl had no memory, no knowledge of her people. So Van planned on helping her.

He looked up at the clock, she would be here soon. He took a seat and sipped as his blood laced tea. In his long life he'd seen a lot of things, and if could help just one person find there place in the world then it would all have been worth it.

Aylin knocked on the door, before opening the door. "Professor Thurstan?" She asked as she pushed the door open further and slipped inside the room. She knew he had been expecting her, they had talked about meeting up earlier, as she had many questions for him. He was a professor here at the academy, but more importantly he was long lived and well traveled. And it was in his travels that he had met others like her, other Lamia. She had always wondered about her people, having only talked to people about the legends of her kind.

She was wearing her school uniform's skirt, with a grey hooded sweater to keep things simple. The sweater was emblazoned with the schools logo on the sleeve, and back. Her hair had also been put into a tight braid that hung halfway down her back. She had with her her Cello case, which she leaned up against the wall next to the door as she entered. She also carried her shoulder bag, which contained her note books, text books, and Thurstan's books he had loaned her. She had been having great difficulty putting them down since he had given them to her.

She saw him sitting at a table with a cup of tea, while a second cup sat waiting, presumably for her. Good afternoon Professor. Thank you so much for taking the time to see me." She said pleasantly as she slithered up to the table and placed her bag on the ground beside her. "I hope the day finds you well."

Van gave her a kind smile, "Hello Miss Aylin, and hood afterafternoon to you as well," he chuckled and slips the tea a bit closer to her. "The day has been quite good, I'm already really enjoying yeaching."

While he had never taught in a classroom he had mentored many over the centuries, "I hope you enjoy the tea, normally I add a little blood while it's brewing but I was uncertain if you'd like the taste, I know Lamias are carnivores but blood tea isn't for everyone."

He took a sip of tea, "I was saddened to hear that you've yet to meet others of your people, hopefully one day that may be rectified." He took a sip of his coffe, "we'll dear, please have a sip of tea, I understand your head must be swarming with questions."

Aylin took a moment curling her tail up to create a place for her to settle down. She would have used a chair if not for the fact that most chairs could neither house her size, nor support her weight. once she was comfortably seated she placed her hand on the table pulling the cup of tea closer to her. "I do enjoy tea yes. Thank you Sir." It was second nature to address any professor at the school with utmost respect.

She had had very little experience with human blood or meat, having only just recently tried her first taste of it. While she had enjoyed it and planned to integrate it into her regular diet, Aylin knew she had to be careful and not over do it. "Thank you. Though I dare say blood might not be in my diet for a while." She gave a little smile. The idea of blood didn't repulse her, she simply wanted to be careful.

She took a slow sip of her tea, enjoying its simple and rounded tastes. after a couple of seconds she placed her cup back down. "Er. Yes. See I sort of arrived here. And that was it. I was alone. And kinda just picked up a life. In truth I don't even know if Aylin is actually my name." That was the truth. When she was first asked who she was her only response was Aylin Arore. Weather or not that was actually her name was a mystery.

"And when you said that you had met people like me... My people... Well I got really excited. Like i feel like maybe I did have a place in this world.' her feelings of loneliness had always existed. No matter how many friends she had or what she was doing, it was the pain of not knowing if she were the only one that made her alone inside.

He nodded and gave her a kind smile, "unfortunately that is a common thing among students, orphans and amnesia." He took a sip from a tea, "dear as someone who's walked the earth for nearly 600 years, I can honestly say that having a place isn't about finding people who look like you, it's about finding people who accept, but I understand your want to find your people."

"I first met the Lamia when I was in Greece studying scrolls about a ancient vampire who had at one point lived in the area thousands of years prior," He set his cup down, "like most supernatural beings they retreated from the world as humanity turned against us. They created an underground city nicknamed the Underworld or Hades for obvious reasons."

He took a sip of his tea, "now the reason I found my way to there city, is because the vampire I was researching was a Lamiae, now a Lamiae is a Lamia who was turned into a vampire."

She knew Van was old. That was pretty clear in his mannerisms and refinement. But on a scale like what he had just said, putting a number to it, well that really put things into a new light. it also helped her to appreciate his experiences, as few people could boast such a long and active life. "I understand. And this is in no way a search for acceptance. I've just always wondered what I really am so to speak."

She took another sip of her tea as Thurstan began to tell his story of his first meeting with a Lamia. It apparently had been accidental as he was studying scrolls. Though her thoughts were that those who did meet Lamia were on accident, as she couldn't imagine why anyone would search out a half snake half woman. Her heart skipped though when he said they retreated. That indicated more than one. It could mean a family, or a community even. She wanted to interrupt him now, to start asking questions. But that in itself would be incredibly rude. He had given her his time and she would do well to keep herself in check.

When he explained the Lamiae however her heart nearly stopped. She had always wondered if her kind were susceptible to such things. Her immune system was very strong and she rarely became ill. But vampirism was different than that. And it could apparently convert even her kind. "Lamiae... She was.. I mean there was a Lamia who was a vampire? Well how many were there? Was that a common thing?"

Van sipped his tea, "it's uncertain how many there were, but I believe it was a rare occurrence, they don't show up in the myths very much. Your people have a very strong resistance to deseases, but vampirism is a supernatural desease so it had a better chance of infecting."

"The Lamia there were quite helpful and kind, they had given up eating human flesh and developed underground farms. There city was lit with magical lamps, there's a similar settlement of elves in Japan." He sipped at his tea, "like most supernatural societies outside of Monta Carlos the government let them be as long they remained peaceful and out of sight."

He refilled both there tea cups, "they were friendly, kind, very helpful in my research. They seemed to suffer from a racial guilt of sorts, they regret their ancestors hunting and eating humans. Which personally I believe is not necessary, they should not punish themselves for the actions of long dead ancestors."

Aylin listened intently to Thurstan as he explained that in his belief it was unlikely there were many Lamiae. This was an odd relief for Aylin. AS it stood a vampire and a Lamia were both two separate creatures of great power. But putting them together, into something more? That in itself was a frightening idea.

Further on he would explain that the Lamia he had encountered had given up human flesh, choosing instead a life of domesticated farming under ground. He even described magical lights they used to keep their cities illuminated under ground. Hearing this made her feel a deep feeling of envy, as she wished she could have seen the majesty of such a settlement. Apparently elves in Japan had a similar set up tucked away from prying eyes. Aylin quickly reached into her bag, pulling a simple coil notebook from it's depths along with a pen and began feverishly writing things down

He went on to explain that her people were friendly and kind and had even adopted a sort of debt mentality for their previous transgressions. This was certainly a different picture than one of the other professors had painted for her.

"I was told by one of the ancient history professors that My kind were carnivores that would sneak into villages and steal children. Your telling me things that are completely different from anything I had known. I was told that they would kidnap and rape males to reproduce, but..." She looked down at herself. "Not to sound conceited sir, but I dont think we need to force anyone to.. Ya know."

She took a second to write down a few more points before speaking up again. "How big was the colony? How long were you with them?"

"There was around 20,000 in the city, I was there for three months." He sipped his tea, "knowledge of the supernatural within human society is normally bogged down my misconceptions and superstitios so it's always best to find supernatural beings to find proper knowledge."

He added a bit more blood to his tea, "they had a library of scrolls that conveyed truths od the Greek myths that were lost in human society" He sipped from his coffe, "for example the legends do not state that a Lamiae were vampire Lamia, but the similarities were striking, which is what led me to Greece."

He sipped from his tea, "so they gave me access to their scrolls on the Lamiae. From said scrolls I was able to confirm the truth of the Lamiae's vampire identit."

Aylin dropped her pen as she looked up at Thurstan. He had said 20,000? There was no way that was right. She sat a few moments trying to fully process what she had heard. The idea that a city with at least 20,000 Lamia was almost too much to believe. On that note could 20,000 individuals disappear in such a short time? In theory they could still be there, and possibly in greater numbers. They also had a library? She could only imagine the treasures that would hold. The history, and stories of her people. And from Thurstan's description, it seemed they were more than happy to grant access to others.

"Three months? That must have been amazing." A sudden thought occurred to her. Once a month she suffered from a certain lunar event. During the full moon she was reduced to an insatiable fiend. "during the full moon... Did they.. become sexually aggressive? I mean I don't need details, but I've been told I am like that because of what I am. Did you father any children with them?" these were more personal questions but they were important as they would shed light on the questions about why she was the way she was.
