Normally James disliked people he didn't know well touching him, but under the circumstances he didn't mind, in fact he was happy for the small amount of comfort her holding his shaking hand brought.

He could hear the ambulance now, people coming to help, he had tried to keep the bullying problem a secret, he was realizing that he never should have.

James gave Naoko a small sad but grateful smile, James had a hard time trusting people, he'd seen pretty much nothing but the negative aspects of mankind before he came here. He'd made only a few friends, but here and now, she had earned some of his trust.

The ambulance came and James was escorted away, he'd get the medical treatment he needed, and when he came out perhaps he'd be more willing to accept help from others, and maybe more willing to defend himself. It was another step for him, a step through all the pain he'd seen and figuring out his new life. A long journey, but one he didn't have to face alone.
