Blind Justice

'Daredevil." Sam said, testing how the name tasted in his mouth. Blind superheroes. Now this was something new. A superhero that was actually like him. Blind Ninja, people had called him this before, at some point, but he couldn't place who or when. "Does he beat up people? Is he telekinetic?"

"Lots of people fight depending on what they could see," Sam had learned all of what he knew from Old Man Choi, a wizened old blind man who taught Sam how to fight and how to beat opponents who could see with their eyes. "They can't hear, though. Or they don't know what to listen for. So when the lights are out, a blind man could easily take a dozen sighted ones by surprise."

"This is true, I suppose. I think I might still win against you, though, if I were deaf. Enhanced senses are plural." Sam said, almost a little arrogantly. This was most likely the truth, though. The kid was young, small, thin, and probably not a fighter. Sam would be able to know his rough position by scent. If there was wind, he would be able to gauge position by wind flow. "Of course, it depends. I don't know whether you are a fighter or not."

"How old are you?" Sam asked.

A small, bright kid, then. Fighting with his head instead of with his fists. Most of these people existed in the higher parts of society. Growing up with the dregs, criminals, and lepers in society, Sam learnt how to fight with his fists. As a side result, he isn't the brightest.

"Brains usually get you further than brawn, Reece." Sam said.

Sam chuckled a little to himself. At some point, his serious lack in schooling will come through. Perceptive little bugger.

"I've never been to school," Sam said, without much shame. He licked his lips. It was true that he did buy textbooks and read them by feeling the difference between paper and printed text. "This is my first school."
