Walking down the hall, Marcus was counting the number on the doors he passed. One of the rooms on this floor was going to be his for the next few years. This was the point where he truly leaves his old life behind.
Stopping in front of his door, he stared at it for a few moments. it was a regular door, wooden with flecks of paint missing here and there. The handle was a simple brown color, smoothed by the use over several years.
Opening the door and looking inside, Marcus noticed that the normal look of outside did not match that of the outside, mostly in one key aspect. on his way here, several people had left their dorm room doors open, and he had seen inside. Not intentionally of course, but whats strange here was that while they had carpet, he could see that their kitchen area had hard-wood floors. It was even scratched in places like someone had scraped it with a knife.
Trying to put it out of his mind, Marcus went to find which room was his. choosing a random door out of the two choices (excluding the one outside) and opened it. It was empty, save for a bed and a chest of drawers. this must be his.
Unpacking his stuff, Marcus got curious. This was definitely one of the special consideration rooms, given the floor. A normal human wouldn't have an issue with carpet.
His roommate was definitely out, so he wouldn't be noticed if he was careful. Moving through the Living area again, Marcus noticed something else that made him curious: a couple of brown feathers could be seen here and there. Did he blow up a pillow? Was he a duck?
Peeking inside, he was surprised by what he saw. it was a nest in a box. Maybe his roommate was a duck. If so, he had good taste in books and music, judging from the contents of the bookshelves. Picking up a random book on the desk, Marcus was in awe, this was a top-seller back in England, and he wasn't able to get a copy. He was dying to read this.
