between the sheets

"Yeah! I took her out to a really big field once to see how fast she could go, I think she came in at 50 MPH that day. She is smart, we share everything, she's sort of like my child. She's not very brave, though." Frowning at this, he continued, "She doesn't like fighting, really. Gisa prefers to sleep. I don't like leaving her alone for too long, either, 'cause she'll get anxious and it'll upset her digestion."

His hand met the other boy's cheek, and amusement touched his expression. Shrugging modestly, August couldn't actually remember ever needing coats. "No, not really. Though, sometimes it's easiest to wear one anyway. I get an awful lot of people following me." Though he didn't mind being used as a radiator, it got annoying when there was a large crowd trying to do that all at once.

Drawing his hand back, August cupped his hands together, concentrating the heat until it sparked. His hands had hardened to the fire after so many years of use, and he could barely feel the flicker of the heat. It almost looked as if he held a candle, and a small column of smoke rose to the top of their enclosure. Smashing the fire between his hands, August quickly rubbed his hands on his legs. "Ah, I don't want to catch the sheets on fire. I'll still need those for a while. Do you have any powers?"

<div align=center>William looked amazed when August began to talk again. That was cute, how much he felt for the animal. William wished he had a pet like that, or any kind of pet. Gisa sounded wise, she didn't like fights, and she spent a lot of time sleeping. William could relate rather well to that. "I'd like to see her run." He enthused, leaning closer and smiling brightly at August. He imagined it'd be fun to be able to run that fast, no one would ever be able to catch you when you were in trouble - not that William was really one for getting in trouble very often.

William giggled at the image of a huge group of people trailing after the boy. He paused for a moment, shuffling over and closing the gap between them. "Can I just...?" He wrapped his arms around August's middle and pulled him close, purring at the sudden wave of warmth that flooded from the boy and nuzzling just that little bit closer, "oh my goodness that is incredible." He stayed there for a moment longer, more or less unwilling to move for the next few minutes. The boy arched his back and pulled away, blushing hard and biting his lip. "I.. I.. I'm sorry... I just... I just wanted to test it properly."

The boy gasped as the flame appeared in his palms, it flickered and shimmered and cast eerie shadows all across their little pillow fort. "Wow." He breathed, an overwhelming urge to reach out and touch it overcoming his senses all of a sudden. Before he could lift a hand the flame was extinguished, drawing a long, low whine from William. "Oh... Yeah..." He returned with a nod, "I can hear thoughts, and feel what other people are feeling." He reached forward with his mind for a moment, it only took a second to break past the walls of August's mind, though he did nothing but talk to him. Hello!</div>

August could always appreciate another person who complimented his beloved pet, Gisa definitely didn't mind being admired, either. Perhaps some day he could casually show off his exotic pet to Billy.
Before he could get lost in the fantasies of the potential day out, he felt arms around his waist, drawing him into a hug. He dared not breathe, lest he break whatever spell was happening. Unfortunately for him, his newfound friend broke the embrace after a couple minutes, and August exhaled all at once. Though he frowned in mild disapproval, a touch of eagerness touched his heart, and he found that he wanted to be hugged again.

"Thoughts...?" Before he could question more about the matter of sharing thoughts and feelings, he felt a presence in his mind, one that made him recoil in fear. It only said hello, the it being who he assumed was Billy, but it gave him a nasty shock nonetheless.
The mind is an incredibly private place, no matter who you are, and August shivered at the idea that his last private resort was not really all that private. Tentatively pushing back, his own mind voice meekly answered the hello. "That's ... Different. Very different." Sidling closer, August hesitated before clasping the other boy into an embrace identical to the one earlier. He curled into the body that he held, rather unwilling to let Bill break away this time. "I ... Like this?"

<div align=center>William would have very much liked to have Gisa shown off to him, he liked animals, and whenever the chance arose to pet a new animal, William would jump at it. Apart from that one thing in the pet shop... I don't even know what the heck that was. William didn't register August's disappointment about being let go from the hug again, he was too excited about the prospect of knowing someone with a cheetah, as well as the ability to be warm all the time. He wished he could be warm all the time, warmth was something Bill very much enjoyed.

Feeling the presence of someone else in your mind was a strange experience for someone that had never felt it before, and Bill tended to forget that more often than not. A pang of guilt rattled through him at the boy's reaction, he pulled himself away from August's head, frowning softly and hunching his shoulders. "I.. I'm sorry. I forget th.. That people aren't used to that..."

William was surprised however, when August pulled him close again. He didn't much mind though, and reciprocated the hug, nuzzling close to his new friend, tucking his head underneath August's chin and purring softly. He liked being cuddled, he didn't really mind who by, for the most part. But this was better than normal hugs. This was warm and cosy and William didn't much want to let go again. "You're cuddly. I like you."</div>

August couldn't help but feel bad for reacting to the mental connection the way he did. At least William had warned him a little beforehand, it probably would have been terrifying to hear a strange voice in your head without expecting something. He supposed he could get used to it, if he tried hard enough. He and Gisa shared a similar mental bond, but it was more familiar than a stranger trying to form one. Despite all that, he felt very relieved when the unfamiliar presence in his mind receded.

It relieved him greatly when William returned his hug, and August closed his eyes briefly in happiness at the warm weight that settled against his body. His chin fit easily over Billy's head, and his arms quickly settled into place, squishing the other boy into him.

It had been quite a while since he had curled up with someone like this, and it was exciting. It just wasn't the same, hugging a cheetah for warmth. "I like you, too. I don't hug like this very often. It's ... Nice." Almost as if in agreement, his body heat jumped a couple degrees as he curled his body into his new friend. "This is much more fun than studying."

<div align=center>William couldn't blame August much for not liking the way it felt to have someone in your mind, he was so used to spending time around Gabe that it was an automatic thing to reach out for people. He forgot that some didn't like it. After all, the mind was a very private place, regardless of who you were. It took the utmost trust to allow someone in there, William had barely known August for an hour, that had been the wrong choice, but sometimes he merely forgot that he shouldn't do it. He giggled as August pulled him closer, he liked being cuddled, it was a comforting feeling to have someone close to you, and William found that he was enjoying this even if it wasn't Gabe.

"Don't you?" He asked, frowning a little. "Maybe you should try hugging more. It's nice, isn't it?" He chirped, hugging was especially nice on cold winter nights, or when you were sad. Hugs were the best when you were sad. "This is more fun than studying... I like wasting time, although I don't think it's very good for my grades." This was time wasting at it's finest, though William was thoroughly enjoying wasting time like this.</div>

August had no reply for William. He wasn't too keen on the idea of hugging more, that just seemed too complicated. Besides, there weren't too many people that August enjoyed hugging. So far, William was turning into his favourite to cuddle.
"Grades don't matter when you're in a pillow fort, do they?" Nothing really mattered when you were bundled up inside a sweet pillow fort. Nothing but you, the snacks, and other person.

A little awkwardly, August decided to try out this hugging more thing, settling himself back and drawing William into his chest. Clutching the boy to his body, August gently stroked his hand through Bill's hair, his fingers sliding through the silky locks easily. In something of a trance, August stared off at nothing in particular, calmed by the petting motion.
