Bertrand Nash

Bertrand is five foot nine inches tall with a mildly athletic build, leaning more towards muscular. He has slightly tanned skin, heavy dark circles around his eyes, and wavy blonde hair styled into an undercut. He has an unsettling sort of perfection about him and always smells vaguely pleasant to everyone around him. Each of Bertrand's hands has a second middle finger, giving each hand six fingers instead of five. He has a large pair of cotton white wings that sprout from his back. He is mildly awkward with them, since they are new.

He dresses mostly smart casual, or else practical for cold weather when he goes off on long flying trips. He always carries flight goggles, which he wears whenever he flies.

When other people are in danger (danger to himself does not count) Bertrand can summon a divine, indestructible tower shield to himself. Each blow the shield takes causes the person to hit it to lose a portion of their physical strength, magical strength, or desire to continue attacking, whichever would cause them to stop attacking soonest. The shield cannot be lifted by those with evil intent.

Angel's Flight
Bertrand is capable of flying using his wings. He can, if given enough time, reach seven hundred and fifty miles per hour, just under the speed of sound.

Nephilim Physiology
Bertrand ages three times slower than a human. He always looks immaculate: he barely sweats, his hair and clothes are never out of place, dirt and bad smells don't stick to him. This doesn't cause people to trust him more, and often has the opposite effect, making him mildly unsettling.
He is immune to fear, toxins, and diseases. He easily gains muscle mass by working out, and has incredible physical stamina compared to a human. He heals at three times the rate of humans, even being able to reattach severed limbs. However wounds from demonic sources must be blessed by a priest before they will heal.


Legacy of Heroism
If Bertrand is killed while defending others from harm, so long as someone genuinely thanks him for his sacrifice and/or sheds a tear for his death, he will return to life immediately.

Weakness
Cry for Help
Bertrand cannot ignore an honest cry for help. Should anyone request his aid, he will do everything in his power to help the person provided the thing they ask is within the realm of decency.

Bertrand was born to a British naval captain's daughter, apparently a virgin, in the middle of the twentieth century. Their family couldn't afford the scandal of an infant born out of wedlock, and the young woman maintained her chastity despite. The family quietly moved to America for a time where the young woman gave birth to her baby and then left him with a convent before returning home.

From the beginning, young Bertrand's life was not normal. The nuns noticed that he grew much slower than the other children and thought him to be sickly. But a vision sent by an angel of the Lord revealed his true nature.

It was impossible to keep him hidden forever. Eventually, government agents came knocking and it was decided that Bertrand would become an asset of national security. He remained living with the nuns, but began a more formal education. It was rigorous. Due to the extended time with which they had to work and scaffolding techniques, Bertrand's tutors could pack more information into his brain than could have been possible with a normal human child. In addition to normal schooling, he learned several other things such as foreign languages and military training. They wanted to turn him into a weapon.

Eventually, the government realized that Bertrand was too much money with not a lot of pay-off. His powers catered to defense, not offense, and the abilities weren't subtle enough to not break the Veil of Secrecy.

Begrudgingly, the United States government turned Bertrand over to Manta Carlos as part of a good faith initiative. On Manta Carlos, the boy did better but in an off capacity. He still aged significantly slower than others and his 'peer group' changed often. Eventually a system was worked out that would allow him to take classes at a slower rate so he wouldn't get ahead of his apparent age group and feel out of place.

Lives on campus and has limited disposable income.

Bertrand is only a part time student, taking classes slower than normal so he doesn't move ahead of his cohort. This does mean however that other students tend to move on and outpace him.

Bertrand is often seen around the city, helping with charity work and other things

He greatly enjoys superhero comic books, particularly Spiderman in his more street level capacity.

Bertrand speaks several languages at at least a conversational level.
