William could understand where she was coming from. Doing something that you have been doing for your entire life would certainly be easy, but it wouldn't necessarily be fun. It would be hard looking for something else if she didn't know what else she could do, but the fact that she still wanted to help people gave him a few more options.

"You said that you saved a girl from drowning, right?" he asked. "Maybe you can be a lifeguard. I think that would be a great job for making sure people don't get hurt, or worse. Your wings would definitely help."

He looked at Sora out of the corner of eye and was once again impressed by her moves. Eventually, he couldn't help but ask. "Okay, how do you do that?" he asked. "I can't do anything like that with my wings."

Sora nod, thinking it carefully. "I mean, the name sounds cool, but I'm not exactly sure what a life guard is. If flying would help though, that'd be nice. I'm quite fond of flying." That sounded like an amazing thing to tell others though. Hopefully it wasn't violent or anything. But he knew she didn't like that, so it probably wasn't.

She spun around a bit, floating vertically in the air. "Oh, years upon years of practice. Plus I got quite good at being able to dance around a battlefield. Wait, I should learn how to dance!" If able, Sora would take Will's hand, spinning him around a bit and giggling. She honestly didn't know about dancing a whole lot other then it was a way to show off to mates Eons ago in her world. She heard there was spinning in dancing though.

William picked at the bark on the tree absentmindedly. Sora really didn't know a lot about this world, although he realized it shouldn't have surprised him that much. The world she used to be in sounded vastly different from Earth.

Will didn't really know the specifics himself, but he tried to explain it the best way he could. "Well," he said, "a lifeguard is basically someone who watches over people at the beach to make sure no one drowns or anything like that. I said your wings would help because it would be easier to get to people that are in the water. I'm not a professional on the subject, so take everything I say with a grain of salt."

Will wasn't so sure that practice would allow him to fly in such a way, but he couldn't know until he tried. Taking a deep breath, he focused his energy into the center of his back. A few seconds later, his wings began to form. Feathers gradually appeared to form the shape of his wings. He had to curl them slightly so that they wouldn't set the trees on fire.

With no idea where to start, Will simply flapped his wings once and was lifted for a second.

"I think finding a job should be done before you try to learn to dance," he said.

Sora nodded, listening to him with wonder. She noticed him picking at the tree, probably him being a bit nervous or something. It's understandable, being thrust in a new and unfamiliar place. Well, he probably wasn't thrust here, but it is unfamiliar for Will.

"Oh, well it could be pretty helpful. I'd still have to get into the water probably, but it would be an interesting kind of job. But what kind of grain of salt should I take it to? OH, wait, that is a metaphor on this world, right?" There was a few in her world, but they weren't that big on comparing things.

"And I think I can learn to dance as I find one of these jobs. Though, I have a question about your wings, like are they on fire...?"

Will couldn't help but smile at Sora's misunderstanding. She kind of reminded him of himself when he was first learning about Earth culture. "It basically means that you can listen to what I say, but you shouldn't immediately take it as true," Will explained. "I don't know why it means that, but I've decided to accept it."

Will looked at each of his wings and plucked a feather from one of them. He examined it himself before holding it out for her to see. The fire went out, and all that was left as a golden feather. "They are on fire, in fact," he said. "Of course, I wouldn't recommend you touch it." After the feather in his hand disintegrated, he shook his wings so that more would fall off.

Eventually, a layer of feathers was covering the ground behind him. He examined his handiwork, although it wasn't very tough to do.

Sora nodded at Wills explanation. "Oh, I get it. Cause a single salt is small, so....It probably correlates to that someone." It did make sense to her, but she wasn't quite able to express why it made sense to her. Hmm. Oh well, not like it matters that much.

What did matter was his golden feathers. Well, maybe it didn't matter, but it was pretty cool. And the feathers were very pretty. Maybe he was a higher up angel or something. Probably. "Yeah, I don't think I would want to burn my hand. But the fire feathers is a bit weird to see. Probably helpful on a cold night at least."

William looked up at that statement. "Well, I'm sure they would be helpful on a cold night," he said, "but I don't think I'll ever really know. They easily set things on fire, as you could probably imagine."

Will let out a sigh and stretched his arms once more. "I should probably head back," he said. "I came here as soon as last period ended, so I still have to eat lunch. Plus I don't want to be late for my next class." He looked for a suitable spot to begin flying, and when he found none, he retracted his wings. "I'll see you some other time, yeah?"

Sora nodded. Yeah, fire wings would be pretty good at starting fires. It would be a bit sad if they couldn't do that. Or illusion magic, one of the two. Depended on who in the end, Sora guessed. "I could try helping with that."

But that was to happen at a later date apparently. "Of course.~" She flew over to Will, giving him a friendly hug. "Be careful, and make sure you eat right and plenty. And let me know when you want to see how warm your wings off~" She would then float back, waving her new friend off. Such a sweet kid.
