Katie Summers had volunteered to help carry bags and trunks up to peoples dorm rooms. She had nothing better to do today either. She had already had written home to her mother and had her coffee and breakfast. She had been told that there were a few new students coming today by boat. She had only been there 2 days herself and had already decorated her half of the room and managed to walk around the grounds to find all the buildings she needed to know. After sitting for 5 minutes the door opened and a new person walked it dragging 3 large bags with them. She had to wait till the met the welcoming teacher and that the teacher had given her her her dorm number, maps, and class schedual. She was finally done talking to the new student and turned my way to call me over to help them with their luggage. That was my cue

Huh, someone shorter than I am. That's new... Dyani thought quietly, looking at the other girl that the helpful (obnoxious) teacher-human had turned to. She was cute, in a human kind of way, with her long hair and large blue eyes. A quick once-over of the girls visage brought results: about the age Dyani was supposed to look. Preppy. Not used to horror or terrible things. Still very much innocent-looking and chipper. On the other hand, the Wendigo girl appeared the exact same way at first glance too. Talk about not being able to judge a book by its cover.

On the outside, Dyani blushed and readjusted the metal clip in her hair shyly. Shuffling her small feet, she scooped the largest of the bags in her arms and smiled in a embarrassed sort of way. "Hey, my name's Dyani. Nice to meet you" she said, trying to peep at the other brunette over the bag.

"Hi, I'm Kate Summmer. Nice to meet you too." She reached for the girls paper to check the room they were going to and nodded. Then with a smile on her face she nodded to the rest of the luggage and they lifted off the floor almost in a hover to be brought to their new room. She turned to the girl and said, "I'm a telekinetic to I can move things with my mind. That's why I offered to help with luggage for the newcomers. It can be really heavy to carry so I help when i can."

So they passed all kind of people through the lobby. People with wings, kitsune, people with fangs ect. We certainly were an eclectic bunch. "is this your first year here too?" Katie asked the small girl Dyani? Cause I had the same expression on my face last when I showed up about a week ago. Knowing there are others that are in the same situation as you make it a lot less lonely in this world. You know what I mean?"

Kate Summer. Dyani filed it in her brain under the visage of the other girl. Kate seemed to match the Wendigo's assumptions, a preppy girl with a kind disposition and not a whole lot of experience with the darker side of existence. The kind of humans that waved to her as she passed them in the street, that took baked goods from her and tended to her when she was sick. The same humans that tried to have her burned at the stake with hatred and fear written on their faces like painful graffiti. Dyani didn't trust them as far as she could throw them (in her human form that is).

"That's a fascinating power. Doesn't it put a mental strain on you to move things?" she asked, making conversation and mentally figuring where the bags were headed. Then Kate began chattering about the uniqueness of the school, and Dyani listened. "Yes, this is my first year. It is nice to see so many others here that aren't human" she responded, purposefully ignoring the statement about being alone. Having you family killed slowly in front of you, then never seeing one of your own kind for five hundred years made Dyani feel very alone. Just because there were other supernaturals didn't convince her there were any other Wendigo, or any that felt such isolation. It was slightly angst-y of the girl-creature, but she adamantly believed she was the last of a noble race of hunters. Humans made her physically ill.

Katie was feeling an off vibe coming from Dyani, like she didn't like her. Oh well, to each their own. It didn't bother her, she just didn't get where it was coming from so she continued the small talk. "No," Katie replied, "it doesn't strain me for small things like this. Now a van would or a car, those are heavier. It does have weight limits. But I'm still young so it will get stronger with time."

She walked a little further past other doors for the dorms and students chatting in the hall. "We are almost at your room, just up here on the left."

"That must be very convenient for you. Is there anything else you can do, if I may ask?" Dyani replied to Kate. She pondered on the power the girl had mentioned. It seemed rather useful, being able to move things without mental strain. In retrospect, she had not really considered what powers those at the school might have. For the record, she had not considered what she was going to tell people when they asked what she could do. This was an oversight, one that would have to be mediated upon. Maybe she could claim she could simply talk to animals. Unsuspicious and almost endearing. Perfect

She nodded as the girl mentioned where her bags (and herself) were headed. The bag she was carrying was a bit much for her fragile and weak human form, and she would be grateful when she could dispose of it on the floor and put everything in its place. Most of it would go in her herbs bag, which would also serve as her overnight when she tried to sleep in the forest. Dyani hated sleeping inside, and much preferred the open woods to the confines of four walls. "Will I have a roommate? How are the sleeping quarters in this school?" she asked, trying to both gather information and pretend like she cared about where she would not be sleeping if she could help it.

"The rooms are quite comfortable since they give you a room that is taylored to your needs. In mine I have a big airy window and lots of plants. And yes you might end up with a room mate. People are still coming in for the new year so they might be still to come or they could be here already." The took a few more steps and they arrived at her door to her room. "Here you go. Do you want me to bring the bags in or leave them here for you?"

"Thank you. I hope I do have a roommate I'm looking to make friends" Dyani replied, giving her best cheerful smile. There was nothing she would like more than being alone and left to her own devices, primarily because she wanted to spend most of her time in the forest. Hunting. Still in pretending-to-like-humans mode, she blushed, look down and then peer through the door to her new room.

It was like a reflection of her soul. Rich forest greens, greys and blacks crept between tendrils of browns on the wall and ceiling. The bed was a four-poster with each poster in the shape and color of a tree trunk, the fabric above pattered like leaves in a dark canopy. It was like stepping into the dark forest, only in a bedroom. There were even splotches of bloody red, in the form of roses painted on the baseboards. Dyani took a step inside, and was greeted with more of the room. It was personal, like the one responsable for it knew that a Wendigo would want a forest for a room. As a matter of fact, it was so nice she was considering sleeping in it more than one night a week. She turned to Kate and shook her head. "I can take it from here. Thank you very much" she replied. Then a thought occurred to her. "Are you doing anything for lunch? It'll only take me a second to get this unpacked, and I'm rather alone here on the island being new"

"No, I don't have any plans. If you want help or someone to sit with while in the cafeteria just look for me. I'm still making friends myself so it gets a bit lonely. Sometimes I go outside to eat so I don't have to be under a roof. Or I go hiking and bring a lunch to eat out doors" Katie was saying to Dyani.

She mentally let go of the luggage putting it down nice and easy. "I hope you like your room. See you around," Katie said to her with a smile.
