Behind Their Back

Jude didn't know he was there, and Wolfgang wanted to keep it that way. He'd registered, but he hadn't yet started classes, and that meant he had more or less free reign. He'd be moving into the dorms, and when the tournament wrapped up, his time would be free.

Except for Jude. Jude, the one he'd pacted with. Jude, the one he'd given his blessing to. He'd bonded with him largely to get it over with (Jude didn't seem like the kind of person to be dissuaded), but a few weeks in? Well, Jude was growing on him.

And boy did Jude have problems.

Which was why he was at the courtyard, waiting for a familiar face to pop up. He'd seen Johannes around campus before, and now it was just a matter of time before he showed up.

Wolfgang had known Johannes had come to Manta Carlos, but he hadn't thought it would actually matter. Who would want Johanne's powers? They were so specific, and they required consent, and it wasn't like it had any combat application.

But Jude needed it. He needed something. Wiping. Modifying. Something, and the only one Wolfgang knew was Johannes. It was just a matter of making sure they were actually free.

Johannes looked happy to see them, if a bit nervous, and Wolfgang waved them over quickly.

"Did you pact with someone yet?"

Johannes paused for a moment, his eyes shifting around as if expecting a wayward Regalia hunter to pop out from behind a tree.

"No," he admitted.

"Perfect," Wolfgang said. "There's a friend of mine who needs your powers to sort out his stuff. Power complication."

Johannes fixed Wolfgang with a look for a long, long moment.

"A friend?" He finally said.

Wolfgang paused, shifting uncomfortably for a long, long moment, and then nodded.

"Yeah."

Johannes didn't need any further explanation, and he went with Wolfgang after only a bit more explanation.
