Malik nodded his head to what Aurora had to say as they continued to walk up the stone stairs of one of the south tower. She was right, nobody likes a critic at all anyway. Though, it was just a suggestion he wanted to voice. Solitude is hard to deal with at times. Sometimes it can help you clear your mind and straight your thoughts. However, it can leave an emptiness within one's heart, especially if that someone likes to be around others. Malik himself had been in solitude at times when he just wanted piece and quiet. Though, these moments only lasted so long, before he has a desire to go spend time with someone.

The student and professor had made it to the second floor of the current south tower they resided in. Malik was told to look outside of the tower from a window of some sorts. He gaze out to look at the scenery that behold along with the campus. It was breathtaking, seeing so much land from this height. It was amazing to look at. He practically stare for hours.

"Yes, it certainly is impressive. I never new how wondrous Manta Carlos or the Starlight Academy looked from this height." He said, enjoying the landscape from above. Even though the weather was slightly cold today, the snow from Winter had finally let up. Spring was approaching and it appears that it was okay enough to have fun with friends out in this time of day. Malik hopes if he will get to meet others at his age he could consider friends. The thought of meeting new people made him nervous. He hopes Aurora with be with him to back him up or that he could at least muster the courage to talk to a new face.

Malik heard the professor make a reply on being born with powers isn't that funny. By "funny" he meant a little rare, but he is certain she understood what he meant. She mentioned that few of her home's natives are born with abilities of their own. It appears it is not uncommon to be born special. Truthfully, Malik was gladly he was born with powers. His father told him years ago that the way he use his abilities determines his path. meaning he could be a hero, if he uses these powers for good. Malik's dream was to become a hero, but he did wonder when he will be facing villain's. He had a feeling of uncertainty on whether he was ready or not. He decides to shake off those thoughts and focus on getting to Professor Ishikawa.

"Wow, I didn't know there were others who were born with abilities other than me. Though, I should have considered that possibility." He said, feeling a little naive for not realizing sooner that it is not a rare concept to be born with special abilities. There were other ways to gain power rather than simply being born with them. Accidents, bestowal by supernatural means, empowerment by an other-worldly source, these are but a few ways to gain what is desired. Those who are simply gifted at birth with such powers either misuse them for their own twisted ends and selfish benefits or use them for good and protect others from evil. The gifted either choose to be a villain or a hero, depending on what kind of person on the inside. Malik hardly had evil within him. He has always wanted to be a hero and battle against villains and other evil forces while doing good and protecting the innocent.

Upon asking Aurora about her powers, Malik received a stern look in return. It appeared he had asked too much and might have hit a nerve. He should really watch what he says at certain times. There are subjects of mystery that should stay hidden until the time is right. Unfortunately, Malik's curiosity landed him in a situation where he has gone through the boundaries of privacy.

"My apologize Miss Silivasi, it appears I had poked my nose in an area I no business with in the first place. I'll be sure to respect your space from now own and keep my curiosity in check." He said with a bow of respect, apologizing for invading a certain place the professor prefers not to reveal. With a waving motion, she guided Malik back down the stairs as he followed. He really didn't mean to be nosy, he was just a curious boy. Though, that curiosity of his at time would get himself in funny and awkward situation. That curiosity could also help in his training with his powers. Unbeknownst to the boy, he possess other abilities he wasn't aware of besides his electromagnetism.

"I'm not going to take you up there today, but if you really want a sight to see, check out the 3rd or 4th floors of library sometime. It's under renovation now, but at night, you can see parts of the academy that don't show themselves otherwise."

She meant the lights for the most part, but on the other hand, there was the occasional spirit floating around, creatures that came out during the night, and if you were in a dark part of the library, they became much easier to see. The experience was certainly a novel one, but enjoyable nonetheless. Aurora nodded back down the stairs...she was heading back down.

"Going to make a stop by the library to grab a few papers, then I should be able to show you your dorm, although not your exact room."

Aurora quietly made her way down the stone steps and emerged out the wooden door of the tower, still finding herself speaking.

"I'm willing to bet quite a few people here were born with their abilities. What humans, and I'm assuming you're human, think of as supernatural, may just be normal traits for other species. I know a dragon, I'm pretty sure he counts as supernatural. Anyways, I'm not upset that you asked; almost everyone does. It's just something I can't show off since one, nobody would realize I did anything at all, and two, if you did realize it, there would be far-reaching repercussions."

Basically, paradoxes. Nasty bits of energy that fought back whenever Aurora tried to change something. Needless to say, it prevented her from changing quite a few things...not like she had tried however.

The pair arrived in the library, a towering, and Victorian room with more levels than the original Mario Bros.

"Have a look around, I'll be at the desk getting your paperwork ready."

The boy continued down the stone staircase, following Professor Silivasi to the wooden door. Seeing the scenery from the second floor was amazing. He never new how awe-striking Manta Carlos was, nor had he seen the academy from which he attends from a far enough distance. He knew it was a big school, but he had no idea how big. From the tower, he could see the school was massive. That just meant he had to be careful finding his way around. It was pretty easy getting lost in a place rather huge in size. This especially counts for Starlight Academy. He definitely didn't want to lose his pathway out of distraction. On wrong turn and he would end up looking for a way out until it was night. He was very thankful to have Aurora as a tour guide to help around until he know the routes of the academy.

The professor informs Malik that she wasn't going to take him higher up the south tower at the moment. She did, however, advise him to observe the 3rd and 4th floors of the library when he so desires. Malik suspects the library to be another tower with another breath-taking view. Hearing that it was still in construction had the boy wonder what state it was in. He expect it to be coming along well despite it's incomplete status. Malik would be happy to see what the academy is like during the night. This was an opportunity, of course, to see different parts of the school that don't reveal themselves by normal means.

"I will be sure to give it a try. I have never seen what the academy looks like at night. It would be very exciting to look at. Also, there might be an addition with certain creatures appearing at night, creatures that would b categorized as supernatural." Malik said, thinking about going to the library at dusk. He had read about the kinds of creatures that could possibly be seen wondering within the dark nights. He would like to go there and observing the scenery at a different time of day, but there were more pressing matters at hand. He needed to get settle within his dorm first before proceeding with any other action.

The electrokinetic continued to walk down the stairs with Aurora still ahead of him. He stayed close as to avoid getting lost within the campus. He prefers not to lose track of his own pathway, especially in a place such as this. With the size of Starlight Academy one who is new here can easily lose themselves in just the vast space that fills the building. As the wooden exit came into view before them, Aurora stated that she was going to make a stop at the library. She needed to get some papers, probably revolving around the current situation. Afterwards, she should be able to show him to his dorm room. However, it wouldn't be his exact room. It was acceptable by Malik's terms. Right now, he wanted to unload his stuff. It was starting to recall in his mind about how much it weighed.

"Well, it good enough by me. To be honest, I'm about ready to settle in by unpacking my belongings. You don't have to worry about much. I'm am very patient as well as enduring greatly." He said, assuring the professor he can handle carrying the briefcase and backpack for much longer. Hopefully, he will get to him dorm soon.

Upon reaching the bottom of the south tower, both the new student and professor made it to the wooden door from which they entered. The woman opened it and both them exited the rather tall building. After exited the tower, Aurora was still talking, wanting to get some more topics discussed. She speaks of a few people, like Malik being born with extraordinary abilities. What human consider supernatural, most probably must be the common traits of another race. An example is the enhanced attributes of a vampire, the strength of a werewolf, or the ability for dragons to breath fire from their mouths. Speaking of the said race, Aurora happens to know a dragon. This possibly counts as supernatural. The professor notes that she is not upset or angry with Malik in any sort of way. I just so happens that it is hard to notice if she did anything at all in the exact same moment along with certain repercussions, if one so happens to realize what had indeed happened.

"I assure you, I am human, just one who can control lightning. It's very interesting to discover that the kinds of abilities other races possess are actually natural traits inherited by one another. It's also interesting that you know an actual dragon. I hope he is nice, though. By the way, thank you for informing me on some information about your powers. I understand why your would rather not show them." He said as they made it to the library. Malik gazed upon it's structure. It was larger than any other library he has ever been at. He can see that there are so many levels it's astounding. The boy entered the room with Aurora. She told him he could look around while she got his paperwork prepared. He nodded towards her with a smile.

"Thank you, but first I would like to set these down before beginning my exploration for favored books." He said, walking over to a table, laying his briefcase beside the seat he wanted to relax in for a certain amount of time after he was down searching for some books. He took off his back pack next and set it down in the chair. He then, proceeded towards the bookshelves to learn of things he has yet to discover. More preferably to him, he would like to know more about the supernatural, so he walked over to the nonfiction section to pick out a book about the world's mythology. When he found the one he wanted, he walked back over to the seat, which had his backpack was sitting in and his briefcase was laying next to. He sat the book on the table and picked up his pack. He then, set it down next to his briefcase and sat in the chair. He picked up the book and opened it to the first page, starting to delve into the mysteries of the supernatural world.

By this point, Aurora had stopped talking, but only because she was talking to one of the librarians. Specifically, she had made arrangements for her little tours to end in the library, and in exchange for bringing students in to simply look around and maybe check out a few things, they would deliver her the paperwork for her students, and their dorm keys. From here, they would be off to go on whatever adventure awaited them...

...Or just come to her class the next morning.

Having walked in with a student, the student librarian had already taken the necessary measures to prepare the key for Malik's dorm, but not wanting to interrupt his book finding, Aurora held up a finger, indicating she would be back in a few minutes. The mage made her way up one of the spiral staircases to the third floor, where new displays were being put into both the walls and onto the floor, along with bookshelves and the like.

The Chronologists initiative...but she wasn't here for that. She was here to pick up a change of clothes, and one of her staves from the office that was being built here. Yes, a second office, but necessary for the second job she would soon be doing. Meanwhile, Aurora was going to practice after this tour, and there was no better time than to get ready for it now. She came back down the stairs, staff and gear in hand, and picked up Malik's papers and key, turning around to see him starting to read.

"I hope you didn't get too comfortable. I have your key."

Aurora handed it over.

"I can either leave you here, since there's directions on the paper, or I would be happy to lead you to the dorm building if you'd like?"

Malik was already on the second page of the mythology book he was reading. He managed to learn new information about a new creature. He was close to finishing the said page as well and moving on to the third. The creatures he was reading about fascinated him. He wondered if he will encountered the beings he is learning about from this book. This is Manta Carlos, of course, a haven for the supernatural and gifted. Anything could possibly happen here. There was a high probability he would meet with one of the creatures he has learned about.

'Hmm, interesting beings there are in this world. I had no idea they even existed until I started reading this book. It has peaked my curiosity to find out more.' He thought, excited to continue reading about the supernatural creatures that are living in this world. While some of them mean no harm to those they consider foreigners, there are some who are hostile on a daily basis. These kinds of supernatural beings are considered feral and a danger to the innocent. They are similar to wild animals are not to be provoked. Then, there are beings that are evil, pure evil that cause mayhem, suffering, and carnage for pleasure. The most common of these supernatural beings are demons. Malik wonders, if all demons are bad. It would sure be surprising, if he found one who was friendly and kind-hearted.

The boy decides to skip through a few pages to find what he wants to learn for now. He will go back to the previous pages some other times. For now, he desires to learn what peaks his interest. After skipping through page after page, he had found the section he wanted to read most at this moment. What he was thinking previously might have been the reason for this decision. This section of the book revolved around different types of demons.

'Huh, never knew these demons were around. Though, there are some I recognize from other cultures. Hey, here is one from japanese folklore. This one appears to control fire. Knowing demons, it is probably fire from the home world of demons. It's very dangerous, so dangerous that it can't even be used to cooking or for other supplementary purposes in life.' Malik thought, studying and interpreting the japanese fire demons. There are even some who could manipulate regular fire. He wondered, if there were demons that could control lightning. That thought got Malik to think about the rarity of his elemental manipulation compared to the other students here at the Starlight Academy. He might be one of the only people who could control lightning excluding his father, since he was too old to be a student and wasn't a teacher.

Another teacher he was reminded of while thinking was Aurora. He recalled her recently holding up a finger to give him a moment while he was looking through the nonfiction section of the library. She then, went up to the third floor through the spiral staircase. The room there was just starting to get new displays installed in the walls floor and bookshelves. It went unnoticed by Malik as he heard nothing of what was happening above. So, he continued to read from his mythology book. He was now on a different kind of demon. One who could control plants. The demonic ability is unique to him as he never heard of a demon who could manipulate plant-life.

While reading through the demon section with the mythology index, Malik heard Aurora's voice. He turned his head away from the pages to her. He could see she had the key to his dorm. It was outstretched momentarily for him to grab. He gladly reached with his right hand and took hold of the key. He now was a step closer to his dorm room.

"Thank you Miss Silivasi, I really appreciate it." He said with a smile, putting the key in his right pocket. Before continuing back to his reading, the boy decided to keep listening to the professor. She had more to say. She gave him a choice to stay here or to allow here to lead him to the dorm building.

"It's really okay, I can find the pathway to the dorms myself. I believe you still have much work to do. I don't want you to have too much to do and be exhausted afterwards. I wish not to give more than you can handle. I am grateful for your all your help, by the way, thank you." Malik said, thanking Aurora for all that she has done for him. He didn't want to her to have to much to do today, so he decided to go to his dorm room by himself.

In something of a mental breath of relief, it appeared that Malik marched somewhat to the beat of his own drum. He had already settled down in the library, and while Aurora wished she could do the same, there were scores of well...scores to look over, and an infinite number of other small issues that needed to be resolved. The life of a professor was never a lazy one, unless of course someone didn't care of course, but that was the the antithesis of her teaching style.

"You're welcome. If you're comfortable and can find your way back to the dorm, then I will take my leave. If you need me, I'm usually in the auditorium, or in my office on the 4th floor of the building. If you can't happen to find me, please send me an email, or just slip a note under one of my doors. I will see you in class soon. Take care, Malik."

And with that, Aurora grabbed some more stuff, and headed up the stairs towards her office to finish writing emails and other administrative tasks before a small piano recital in the evening in the city.

((Sorry for the poor quality and lateness of this post, decided I had better just get it out of the way.))

Malik waved to Aurora with his right hand as she took her leave to her office on the 4th floor to continue her duties as an administrator. His left held his book with his thumb as a book mark to help guide him to which words he left off with in the pages. The professor had been so kind to help him find his way to where he will be staying for the entirety of his school years at Starlight Academy. Of course, they made some interesting stops along the way. First, they stopped at the auditorium. It is a section within the school for which students with an interest in the musical arts could practice or play freely. There next stop was at one of the south towers. When they made it up to the second floor, Aurora told Malik to look out one of the windows, which revealed a more scenic aspect of the academy's campus. He could still remember all that he has seen. There final destination together is the place the boy currently resided in, the library. It contained so much information on the world, but Malik was more interested in discovering different creatures in mythology.

"You too, professor, I hope to see you around campus. He said as Aurora ascended upstairs, heading for her office. He soon returned to reading the book within his hand. He was eager to learn more about certain demons within the world. The fact that they were real surely astonished the boy. At the age of 10 before moving to Manta Carlos, Malik wondered on the existence of the supernatural beings he is reading about today. After the move to the island, the awakening of his abilities, and the enrollment at the academy, he was assured that other supernatural beings were real, but remained hidden from human society.

The demon he was currently reading about at this moment was one who could steal a person's soul. They often lure their victims into dark areas with hallucinations or other sorts of trickery. Afterwards when the demon gets close enough to them, they would suck out there soul. Apparently, these demons target those with certain abilities that would benefit them later on in battle. A person who is a gifted would most likely be a target. When a victim's soul is sucked out of them, they don't die, instead they fall unconscious and will remain that way until their spirit is returned to their body. In order to free the person's soul, one must kill the demon. Upon death, they will turn to ash and the souls they have stolen will immediately return to their physical being. As a result, the person will awaken. This demon is called a Soul Thief, which seems appropriate for it's thievery in mortal spirits. It says in the book that one of it's weaknesses is electricity.

'Well, that is certainly a coincidence. At least I don't have to worry about one of these demons attacking me. I can just electrocute them and turn them to ash. Though, just because my powers are their weakness, it does not mean I can be so confident. Overconfidence can be very damaging to one's self. If I get too carried away, I could have my soul stolen from me.' Malik thought, noting himself not to let the fact that he could harm the Soul Thieves with his lightning go to his head. These creatures within this text were so interesting and sounded dangerous. He suspects he will confront them on his future adventures.
