Malik walked through the wide-open halls of the academy. His gaze shifted to the texture of the walls in anxiety. He was nervous about making his first impression on the adult he will meet. He was less anxious while he was being driven to the academy by his parents. Since he was going to attend the academy, he will be going to one of the dorms. The city was quite far away from the school and might take a while to get here just by car. All his belongings that he might want while remaining within the school grounds was brought along. It is, at this moment, being carried down the hallway in a large backpack and a briefcase in his left hand. It is considered heavy to Malik, but he was too focused on what to say to the adult to care about the weight currently.

As the boy grew closer to the entrance to the Admissions Office, he reminisced about the time his powers first awoken. He found it elating that he could control lightning. This makes him wonder, if he should show the administrator what he can do or not. This causes more thoughts to swirl within his mind upon the question. They all revolved around the use of his electrokinesis. He was also thinking of showing his electromagnetism. While taking training on how to use his gifts with his father, Malik managed to tap into magnetic fields through electric currents. As a result, he could levitate metal as well as metallic objects and substances. Though, here is a limit to how much he can lift, thankfully it is more than he weighs. Malik wonders of what other abilities he will acquire in his years at Starlight Academy.

"I am curious as to know of what other abilities I possess. I can hardly wait to begin my training here. Though, I must remember to visit my mother and father sometimes and write to them on certain occasions. Most specifically tell them of a future adventure I had been on. The thought of exploring places and even worlds unknown has me excited." He thought, curious about what else he could do with his powers while at the same time remembering to write to his parents at times. When Malik had exited the car that drove him to the school in the first place and got his belongings out of the trunk with his father's help, he gave him a friendly hug as well as his mother a goodbye kiss. He will be sure to see them again when he visits or when they come to him. Malik wonders what the dorms will be like and if he will have a roommate.

The young electrokinetic was brought out of his thoughts at the sight of the door he was searching for through the halls. It was the door to the Admissions Office. Malik felt his nervousness returning. He was shy at times, especially when it came to strangers, but his courage balances it out. Reaching the entrance, he now stood in front of it. Before entering he took a deep breath and exhaled, effectively calming himself. He was now ready as he lifted his free, right hand and grabbed the knob. Turning it, he opened the door and walked in.

"Um, hello, I'm one of the new students that will be attending the academy. My name is Malik Roberts, it is nice to meet you." He said in a gentlemanly tone, addressing his name.

Aurora was starting to wonder if she had somehow magically changed professions at the school in the last couple of months without her noticing. For all intents and purposes, Thirteen was the Director of Music at Starlight, excepting the fact that she had found herself in the position of doing more and more tours for arriving teachers and students than normal. When confronted about the increasing number of tours, they had replied with what might be the greatest of jokes she had ever heard in her time here.

"You have such a trusting personality!"

Well, that was a first. She wasn't one to argue too much, but frankly, if people knew, these tours would have probably played out much differently than they were going now.

Aurora strode into the administration building wearing her standard fare of a blue and golden robes with her signature tattered red cloak. There wasn't much to be said of the line at the front desk...about an average day all in all. Several students waiting for counselors, others for various bits of paperwork, and another few that, as expected, were waiting for their enrollment tours.

Although it appeared random to herself, the tours were generally pre-determined based simply on the time the student arrived to the school. As such, her name was already ascribed next to that of a student named Malik. All she had to do now was sign her name on the paper, and the lady handling everything did the rest...well, the rest being point over at the young man that was already nearby. Aurora was a little over a half a foot short of the boy, but other than that, were no significant differences besides dress. Both of those differences however, were about par for the course.

"Welcome to Starlight Academy, Malik. I trust you found your way to this building easily? At least I hope so, I know this place is occasionally confusing."

The boy nodded to the administrator's question. It was quite easy finding his path to the office in the first place. He found no confusion at all when he walked. He didn't felt lost at all. he knew where he was going. The only thing that had Malik nervous before was what he would say to the woman before him. Though, that didn't seem to be an issue anymore. He now knew what to say to her.

"Actually no Miss, I found no difficulty in finding my way here. It was easy to locate the office. I am also happy to be here, attending. I have always wanted to come here the moment I've heard of it." He said, admitting it wasn't really hard coming to the administration office as well as expressing his excitement and desire at enrolling in Starlight Academy. Malik decided to walk over to a chair and take a seat. He took of his back and placed it beside it along with his briefcase. He then, sat down before continuing. The administration Office had many things that peaked his interest. The boy was always so ever curious about his surroundings even as a child.

"so, where shall I be staying. I know of the dorms, but which room will I be assigned. " Malik said to the women before remembering that he had forgot to ask her name, "Oh, I'm sorry, what is your name I may ask. I would like to address you properly and respectfully." With the little discussion accompanied by wondering on what to say to the woman, he had forgotten this small detail. She knows his name, it is rightfully so that he should know hers. After she addresses herself, Malik might consider showing her what his abilities are. He ponders on what he should do to help reveal the basis of his powers without harming the person in front of him. Some of Malik's techniques weren't exactly "indoor friendly". Lightning is indeed wondrous, but can also be destructive and dangerous.

He thoughts came to a certain ability he had discovered during his training with his father before entering the academy a year ago. It was his electromagnetism, a sub-power that controls magnetic fields through electrical currents. Though, that ability of his mainly revolved around levitating and manipulating metal through an electromagnetic force. It might not be descriptive enough in terms of explaining what his power was. His mind then, devised an idea to create a small mass of electricity within his palm. he will be enough to reveal his abilities and do no harm to the woman.

"I'm happy to hear it. I've had a few students that have gone the wrong way or another, and more than the fair share of those that didn't exactly care for being here. Chalk it up to nervousness most likely."

When someone learned that they had an ability of some sort, the immediate reaction was to of course, conceal it. There were a few that also relished in it, but soon after, those people learned that those that were not attuned to the supernatural became...different towards them. This was a vast generalization, certainly, but the main point remained true: even in a school like Starlight, there was some hesitation in being in a place where one would HAVE to use their ability at some point.

"I don't know where your dorm is actually, but I suspect we'll find out when we get back here."

The tour was the schools way of sorts of sending the student off to do something useful while the front desk finished up the paperwork, and actually decided where said student would be staying while they were studying at the school.

Aurora adjusted her cloak slightly, shortening it slightly for an easier time walking around the varied school grounds they would be trudging over. The snow was starting to melt, and spring around the corner, but of course this meant rain and other weather issues. No worries though.

"My name is Aurora Cecilia Silivasi. I am the Director of Music and...well, tour guide I would suppose."

Once again, she left out her formal titles. They were not in class, and frankly, the titles made things much more stuffy than they needed to be. If he asked about those, then of course she would give them, but not a moment before.

In elaboration to her former thought about nervousness that most students got before coming here, Malik apparently had no qualms about showing off his abilities to anyone...quite possibly jump starting his knowledge of himself in quick order under the right circumstances.

"You're an electromaster. I have a son that dabbled in that somewhat. But I digress, if you're looking to start your practice right away, I'd recommend finding Professor Ishikawa. He's pretty excellent when it comes to training."

The good professor's abilities were actually like Aurora's with some variations. Thirteen was a specialist, and while she had more control over the realms she specialized in, Nakata had more variation. That wasn't to say either person couldn't do the same things; they were just better at certain ones than the other.

"Shall we go? The school is a pretty big place, and I'm sure you want to get an early start, yeah?"

Malik nodded to Aurora when she finally addressed herself as such. A small smile was also evident on his features. Not only was she a Music Director, but a tour guide as well. Malik wonders if it is really hard managing two jobs or she is just working one temporarily. Either way, both jobs seem easy. Though, being a music director is more interesting in his perspective.

"It is very nice to meet you, Miss Silivasi. I would be happy, if you showed me around the campus." He said in a friendly tone. It didn't felt right with him just calling her "Miss". He should be polite, gentlemanly, and address her as such. Malik was taught to respect others by his father. As such, it is right to remember her name. The boy tries to see from a different view on how he would feel, if he was address as simply "kid" rather than by his own name. There was an option of calling her by her first name, but Malik thought it would be more respectful in term of Aurora being an adult.

The boy was surprised when to hear what the woman called him. He hadn't even told her what he can do yet. The question within his mind at this moment was how she knew. Then, an answer came to him. This is probably due to what kind of ability she possesses. She must have read his thoughts and reply to what he was thinking. If that was the case then, he didn't have to worry too much about how he would display his own powers. Malik found himself intrigued that Aurora had a son. He would like to meet and get to him. Maybe they can be good friends. Malik is also willing to take the advise on searching for Professor Ishikawa. If he is an excellent teacher as Aurora says then, he is looking forward to meeting him. He wonders what kind of person he is, though.

"Wow, did you just read my thoughts? What you said was what I was thinking. I have to say, that is an interesting power. Also, if you can then, You probably know that I'll be looking for the professor." Malik said as he stood up from his seat, picking up his backpack and putting it on as well as taking hold of his briefcase with his left hand, "I'm ready to go with you now. I am eager to begin the tour. I can't wait to see what this place is like." He walked to the door and grabbed the knob with his right hand. He turned it, opening the office's entrance. He motioned for Aurora to go first as it's the gentlemanly thing to do.

"Ladies first" He said, wanting her to go first. She was the one leading him, so she should lead. It was also right to show chivalry to a woman. Aurora was offering to be his tour guide, the least he could do is be a good student and show politeness. Malik wasn't the kind of person to openly show rudeness. He wasn't a jerk, but rather a kind-hearted person who cared for his friends and family.

"And I would be happy to show you around, come on, let's take a walk."

Certainly not a far one, the auditorium was just outside, the office, and was considered, other than maybe the gymnasium to be the largest building on campus. It was integral to the building, but in a way, as she opened the doors she thought...maybe that's what made it a bit more special to her. The arts were definitely integral to the educational experience, even in a strange place such as this one.

The comment on his abilities caught her off guard, and Aurora realized immediately she had once again spoken without thinking. In her age, one would have thought a mage would grow out of that habit, but such was a human trait to take notes, even out loud.

"No no, nothing like that. My son has the same resonance you do. If you're around the supernatural long enough, you tend to pick up innate cues on what people can do. Yours is easy simply because I've felt it before. Although I could definitely be wrong, I've been surprised before. I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to make any comments."

That wasn't to say she couldn't read minds. Aurora simply wasn't particularly adept at it, and thus, went unused as far as her magical abilities went. Of course that was something she needed to practice on...but simply didn't care for. Almost any student that had it as an innate ability was better than her at it. One thing she DID however learn was to guard against mental attacks. That had come in handy more than once in her life.

"Our performing arts center is not the biggest by far, but it's reasonably sized. About 400-500 people can sit rather comfortably. We recently had glass panels in the ceiling installed, along with curtains on the walls for their ability to perfectly tune the acoustics in the room to whatever is being performed. We have a Steinway Model D piano somewhere...I think it's off-site being tuned at the moment."

Aurora paused for a moment.

"If there is anything you personally would like to see or ask, please feel free to mention it."

As soon as Aurora exited the office, Malik soon follow behind. Even though he knew where the Administration Office was, he had little knowledge at to navigate around the campus. Thankfully, she was there to help guide him. He was grateful for what she was doing. His current mood is that of excitement. Malik wonders where he is going while taking the tour. There are so many area, which can be explored at Starlight Academy. As the boy walked with Aurora, she spoke up. She wanted him to know that what she knew what he was going to say wasn't simple telepathy, but reading his "resonance" from what she called it. Apparently, Malik had the same wavelength as her son. Which explains how she knew what he was going to say recently.

"It's okay, actually, that is an impressive ability you have. I didn't know my resonance was similar to your son's. That might mean we possibly have similar interests or qualities. That's my opinion, though, it could be something else. To note, I am fond of the supernatural, I'm a curious person." He said, expressing his likeness of the other-worldly forces that exist among them. Complementing his dream of being a hero who protects good and battles evil, Malik has always known that other forces will be involved. If he remembers correctly, it was when he was of the age of 10. That was also the same age he moved from Maryland to Santa Carlos. The last 6 years within this haven for gifted was certainly elating for him. Now he was 16 and taking a tour around the school he always wanted to attend by a friendly woman.

Malik continued down the halls of the academy, following his tour guide. A few moments he would look around the current setting. He wanted t get acquainted with his surroundings. He needed to know where he was going as it was vital when heading to classes. If he wasn't paying much attention, he end up lost, like any other new student. Malik attention was grasped by Aurora's explanation on the performing arts center. From what she described about the area, it sounded interesting to him.

"It sounds like a great place to practice acting and music. I would like to go there sometime." He said. His roaming thoughts do point to the question of the performing arts center's appearance. Considering that the room can hold up to 400-500 people, it must be rather large. He guesses it especially has the same number of seats. How else would a room hold that much people. They need seats to rest themselves momentarily after all.

As Aurora paused for merely a moment in which there was temporary silence, she then spoke. It was more of an offer for Malik to speak of something, anything he would like. The young electrokinetic's thoughts wondered momentarily. He settled on one until more came to his mind. It related to his training.

"Well, I do have something to say. What is Professor Ishikawa like? Since he is going to train me, I would like to know at least something about him. I would also like to know how he trains a gifted individual. I'm aware that both you and him possess the same abilities. I would like to know how he trains students." He asked, wondering what personality he future trainer possessed and how he is able to train a super-powered student, if his powers are so different from his.

"I'm pretty sure interests you share are rather limited, if you don't mind me saying. He's a very closed off individual. Anyways, you're in the right place if you're curious about the supernatural, although you may not notice it right away."

Surprisingly, the school was filled with supernatural beings...but only rarely did anyone actually manifest their abilities. There were several explanations for this, but the best theory that Aurora could come up with was simply that people knew she was a teacher and professor. Often, that thought alone discouraged most students and others from any inappropriate manifestations.

It also made things a bit boring to be fair. Then again, boring was practically her middle name when it came to abilities...at least as far as the students were concerned.

"If you have a talent in the auditory arts, I expect to hear it sometime. I would like to use this auditorium for more than just practice at some point."

Having a concert or recital at the academy was not only difficult, it was nearly impossible. The supernatural nature of the performers, and the necessity to keep their abilities and the like secret made organization of a public event almost a non-starter. Almost. Small performances had always been okay, but so far, the performance venue they had had gone to waste. Sad really.

"Come on, I'll show you the towers while I try and answer that question."

Aurora lead Malik out of the auditorium, and started heading for one of the spiraling towers that circled the perimeter of the school. She herself did not go there too often, but it was a haven for the quieter students that were looking for a place to study. She too would admit that the view was something impressive as well: visitors were often taken there just for the scenery's sake.

"The professor is...a man of many facets, and I'm not sure how to describe him properly. He's quite traditionally Japanese, if that means anything to you. Tough, but compassionate and honorable. And quite skilled in his own right. We both come from roughly the same place, and our abilities so to speak are based on something of a shared origin. We're not related in any way though."

Aurora opened a wooden door and started up a case of stone stairs to the second floor of one of the south towers as she wondered what else to say. Only one student knew anything about her abilities. Not even Nakata really knew too much...mostly because Aurora had never needed to use them besides that one zombie incident. It was also best she kept her own abilities wrapped up tightly.

"Those abilities aren't set in stone. Where many students like yourself probably have learned to conjure up certain rote techniques, I don't do that. I've got a very improvisational style that doesn't meld well with most teachings, while Professor Ishikawa is more rote based like the students. Either way, I'm pretty sure he knows a little something about electricity."

Hearing about Aurora's son's personality had the electrokinetic wondering. His traits were unexpected to Malik, but he can see at least some common attributes. Being closed off probably meant he was shy. Malik was shy around strangers at times, especially girls. He has more trouble talking to them than men. The woman mentioned him being in the right place when it came to the supernatural. He wondered what other-worldly sights or forces he was discover at this academy. This school he was attending might have a habit of attracting the supernatural. He wonders what kind of being he will meet.

Observing the auditorium was certainly interesting to the boy when Aurora showed it to him. It was not one of the biggest in the world, but it was still rather large in terms of space. It was quite sad that important performances had gone to waste. It diverged him from his thoughts on Aurora's son as well of the supernatural. If there was a way to help boost the attraction of this area, he will, but for now, he will follow his tour guide.

"I'll gladly show my talents in music when I get the chance to. It appears the auditorium can use more students with a common interest in the musical arts." He said, noting that they needed to find others who share a liking to music. It could get lonely in this place with just one person practicing. The question lies where to gather more performers.

Malik heard Aurora call for him to follow her and so he did. They exited the auditorium, there path changed to that of the spiraling towers. The arrangement of these large buildings appeared to encircle the academy. While on there way to one, which Aurora had picked, the woman tried her best on how to describe Professor Ishikawa. It sparked Malik's interest to hear that he was japanese. The boy read about the culture of Japan greatly. He had always wanted to go there. It more advanced in technology than any other place he has been. He is surprised it is not a city. He was also surprised to hear that both Aurora and the professor are both from the same place. Though, that place they are both from lies in the question. He will ask about that later. Right now, he needed to focus on training with Professor Ishikawa.

Aurora and Malik have made it to one of the south towers. In front of the two lie a wooden door. The woman opened it to reveal stone stairs leading up to a different floor. He followed her upward toward the professor. Malik was anticipating how the man will use his abilities to help him train his own. He wondered if it was difficult to teach someone how to use their powers when yours is not the same as theirs. While proceeding up the staircase of stone, Aurora explained to the electrokinetic on certain styles one's abilities revolve around. Mainly, she was comparing the students powers with hers in terms of this same style. She also mentioned that Ishikawa knew a thing or two about electricity.

"That's good to hear, my dad so far has been my only trainer for my powers. He is a manipulator of lightning as well, though highly skilled as well. The funny thing about my powers along with my family's is that we are born with them. It makes you wonder who else has acquire their abilities like this. Truthfully, I have never meet anyone as special as me. Not until I meet you of course. Your powers are really cool. I hope to see them in action." He said, telling Aurora more of his father and his similar abilities as well as mention him and his family member being born with their powers. Not to mention complementing the woman on her own talents and expressing his desire to see what their capabilities are.

"I'm not sure I need students as much as the students need a crowd to perform in front of that isn't made up of their peers. I'm all for peer review...but the joy in music is to perform in front of a group that will truly enjoy it instead of writing a critical review about whatever given piece in their heads."

Aurora shook her head slightly as they made their way up the tower. Maybe at some point she would find a way to get a crowd...maybe Nakata would be willing to work on a large scale counterspell for the area around the PAC, or an entropic effect that removed the memories of those sleepers that attended the concerts. It was an interesting side note, but it would have to be studied before she did anything.

The professor/student pair reached the second floor of the tower where the mage directed Malik to look out the window.

"It's a nice view, but you can see the sports field and the stables from here."

There were some students taking advantage of the nice weather to ride a few of the horses that the academy kept on hand. Others were playing soccer in the field. Spring was nearly upon them, and although the weather was still semi-cold, the snow had let up.

"I don't think it's too funny you were born with your ability. A fair few of my people are born awakened; it's still rare, but it happens."

Aurora was technically a second generation mage in her family, but she had awakened at a young age. She wasn't born with her abilities, nor had they even been manifest...someone had had to tell her she was changing things unconsciously. Thirteen gave Malik a good, stern look before waving herself and the student back down the stairs.

"I'm afraid you may not get the chance to see the "real" abilities I have. I try to stay as subtle as possible, I hope you understand."

Time and entropy were two of the most subtle spheres in the mage's repertoire, more so than even mind. They left nearly no trace of their casting, and on top of that, Aurora herself wasn't a 'flashy' mage by any standard. Most accomplished mages didn't even know what to look for, much less most students. If Malik wanted to see fireworks, Professor Ishikawa could probably offer them up much easier than she could.
