The moment Julune learned he was getting a new roommate, he rushed to clean his dorm. There wasn't much to clean in the first place. He was raised to be tidy in case unexpected visitors arrived. All he had to do was sweep up some dust, vacuum the carpet, and rearrange some stuff in the kitchen and bathroom to be easier to access.

Julune's first roommate left after an incident, one that almost made him want to move back home. His roommate was a little too pushy with his friendliness, causing Julune to lose his temper. He hoped to be better to the new person arriving. From what he remembered they weren't too familiar with civilized life and were predatory in nature.

That, Julune thought, could be worked with.

The door to the dorm was opened slightly in anticipation for its new resident. Julune lounged in the dorm's living space in his thirteen-three glory, ready to introduce himself and help move his new roommate in.

Sonny was unused to the concept of "roommates"- with God knows how many square miles of land back home, it was frankly surprising to even see his Dad more than once or twice a week. Living with someone, sharing space with them... he wasn't sure.

But he'd promised he'd go here. That meant trying to do things the "human" way, and if that meant learning how to "share space" then well, he'd give it a try.

He took the open door as a positive sign; walking in, Sonny looked around...

...and promptly skittered back at the sight of his brightly colored, thirteen foot tall roommate.

All Julune heard was a sharp little yelp of surprise, his new roommate staring up at him in shock before he managed to speak.

"....I.... you are.... my roommate?"

His voice seemed almost unused, his accent a slight drawl as he tried his best to appear less intimidated.

Julune expected a knock on the door. A mistake on his part considering what he had been told about the new student. What he didn't expect was for his roommate to yelp before he could get a greeting in.

He forced back a smile. This was going well already. He would have stood up, but he was already pushing the limits of the dorm. Shrinking down, sprouting wings, and flying over to the boy probably wouldn't ease tensions either.

"I am, yes. I think I am. I'm Julune K'Kuniet. Are you... Salmon? No, Salomon?" He tried his best to commit the name to memory, but when the time came to wield that knowledge he stumbled. The best thing he could do was avoid showing embarrassment for his mistake.

Sonny nodded slightly- the confirmation that this was, in fact, his intended roommate seemed to ease his fears by a minuscule amount. Even so, he kept his (actually somewhat strangely shaped) pupils locked carefully on Julune as he stood once more.

"....Saloman, and I guess my other name's uh... Coravow? But my Dad just called me Sonny, so..."

He looked past Julune, inspecting the room. And, unfortunately for Julune, it seemed as if his idea of helping his new roommate "move in"... wasn't really going to happen. There were no bags, no boxes, seemingly absolutely nothing besides the clothes on Sonny's back and the hunting knife at his hip.

Sonny, focused as he was on the room, finally remembered- he was meeting someone. They'd gone over this in class, though it hadn't make much sense then either. He looked back to Julune, particularly focusing on the merperson's face as he did his best to repeat what his teacher had said.

" It is... pleasurable to meet you."

Julune's eyes lingered on the hunting knife for a few moments, then adjusted themselves back onto Saloman's face. There was a slight wince to his expression at messing up both chances to say his roommate's name correctly. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Saloman."

He had no intention of leaving more awkward silences. Shrinking down by a few feet until he was only six-feet tall, he allowed himself to stand and stretch his tail out, though it still stayed curled.

"You don't have any luggage... Is it too heavy to carry or did you very recently arrive here?"
