So Yvarn was new. Salal wasn't surprised, he didn't have the scent of the island on him yet. It stuck to people who had spent a longer time here. Salal didn't have it yet, either. She had only been here for few weeks as well.
"I hope you are well now. I am glad to talk, I like it. If you wish you can come again, I live near."
Salal said and gestured towards the direction where her cabin was, just few hundred meters away. Salal lived right by the edge of the forest, she had tried living in the city but just few days had proven that she much preferred to be close to nature.
"I am new too, I come just fortnight ago."

"I'll be taking trips around the forest quite a number of times, so much to write home about. So I might pass by your residence between rounds.", Yvarn took his hand of the pencil for a moment to scratch the back of his head with a smirk and the pencil somehow simply stood sill, as if an invisible force held it in place. "Really? I could in no way tell you too are a new arrival..."

Salal was pleased to know that she could have company in the future as well, she loved being close to nature but it could get lonely sometimes. Community center was good for finding conversation partners, but being inside man-made constructs always made Salal a bit...fidgety.
"You are welcome. I have tea for when you wish to visit."
Salal reassured and smiled happily.

Yvarn couldn't tell? Suppose Salal did seem like she felt at home here. But there was a reason for that.
"I feel good in nature. This feels like home, does not feel new. Forests differ, but trees, grass, ground...it feels similar. Not same, but...close."
Salal explained and let her hand touch the ground beneath them and feel the grass.
"But I do not have the scent of the island. You do not have it, yet. But soon it will stick, we will become of the island."

"Hm, I should go for the offer of tea too. Haven't had one since I was 14.", his pencil began to slowly rest down upon the notebook, as the unseen force eased its grip upon it. Yvarn reflected upon Salal's words... "Scent of the island... Eh... I wonder what it is like. I don't have as much of a keen nose yet.", he adorably put his tongue out, chuckling.

Salal didn't know how old Yvarn was, but he seemed mature, so when he said that he hadn't had tea since he was 14 Salal assumed it was a long time ago.
"Tea is good, I have many kinds. I like the scents, but like when they taste like honey."
Salal chuckled, he often basically drowned her tea in honey, but she always enjoyed the scent the most. And the scent wasn't covered by the honey.

"Scent of island is...it is..."
Salal paused and pondered how she should put this in her simple English.
"It is a lot of sea, it is the fields and moisture in the air. It is the dry pavement and unknown yet familiar. Many scents of new creatures in one. And it is the salt wind."
Salal tried to explain, and she gestured a lot with her hands as she did.

"I surely want to try out your best tea recommendation then...", Yvarn's stomach growled softly and his face twisted and gained a light blush in embarrassment, hoping Salal didn't notice his body made a small rumble. "You mean coastal scent, right? Not unfamiliar with that, in my planet there are plenty beaches and the like to go to.", he quickly came up with an answer to hide his shame.

Unfortunately for Yvarn Salal had keen ears and she didn't miss the sound his stomach made. She chuckled softly, it seemed like Yvarn was embarrassed but he couldn't help his body functions.
"I have never seen a beach, I hear it is nice. A lot of sand and the sea is big."
Salal commented. She had seen the sea and it was beautiful, but hadn't had time to go to a beach.
Just then Salal's body betrayed her as well, and her stomach growled much more loudly than Yvarn's. But Salal just laughed a little and gave Yvarn a smile as she stood up.
"Do you want to eat with me? Not far is good food place, nice people and not cost much."
Salal was talking about a diner that was some ways outside the city, just on the way to town from Salal's cabin. Salal would've invited Yvarn to eat at her cabin, but she wasn't good enough of a cook for guests. Salal didn't mind eating her own food, but she ate pretty much anything.

He couldn't even answer well in regards to the beach, Yvarn just pocketed his pencil and closed his notebook, trying not to be any more embarrassing. "I-I'll take you on your offer. Although I'm in mood for apple-flavored snacks and some tea right now.", he soon stood up after Salal, albeit the way he did was more like a hop to his feet, like there was no weight to his own body.

"There is tea, I have had it, it is tasty. Snacks sound very nice, apples are good. My favourite is peaches."
Salal commented happily and watched curiously how effortlessly Yvarn managed to get up. All in all Yvarn's movements were all kind of light and weightless, it was strange and interesting.
"Come after me. I will show you the way."
Salal said and started walking, gesturing Yvarn to follow.

"There's an equivalent to peaches in my planet too, the shape is similar, but it's less... So-called peach, if you know what I mean. Not the same color.", Yvarn answered while following Salal, "Likewise, there are a number of fruits in my planet that are similar to this one's, even apples.", and on he went , explaining about fruits from his planets. According to his description, they were always so similar, but the differences varied from minimal to completely mutant.
