Yvarn's laugh was contagious and Salal found herself chuckling along. Though as Yvarn shared the tale of his life Salal found herself to be puzzled. Few people were this open and ready to talk about themselves to someone they had just met. Salal had thought she was among the only ones who could do that. This was a pleasant surprise, and Salal did listen with intrigue.
"I do not know how family works, I have none, but your parents age good. They sound like they care. Bonds like that are precious."
Salal said with a gentle smile, hoping that she didn't say anything insensitive or unnecessary.

"That they are, no doubt... Anyhow, enough about me. Tell me about yourself more, Salal.", Yvarn sure sounded nostalgic, reminding himself of home. He knew it wasn't out of reach, just would take weeks of trip from the Station, and he can always make a call home. Distance wasn't exactly a problem for him.

"You are ext-extraord-...very unique person. Thank you for telling your tale."
Salal said with a gentle smile and genuine tone, although she did struggle to say a longer harder word. That happened sometimes, Salal's English was broken to begin with and her mouth just couldn't form some words. Not that she wouldn't still try, though.
"I am...not sure what to tell. I'm me, I picked the name Salal because the berries are good. I am a bear. I lived in a deep, big forest, I found a cave, where my amulet gave me pain, I woke up as I am. Then lonely, happy and bad things happened, now I am here. I got a new start, I can live among people that accept me, I'm happy."
Salal said, speaking slowly and thoughtfully. Her story wasn't that complicated or long, at least not to Salal. To her lives with nuanced relationships, family bonds and trials and joys of everyday life were much more interesting.

Salal's story had been quite something, to the point his face expressed more surprise and confusion than expect of someone who has a lizard face. "That is quite rough. At least now you are somewhere where people won't look down upon you nor demonize you in any way. On the bright side, I bet you know flora and fauna more than most around here.", there had to be a silver lining, so he thought. Yvarn's knowledge of nature, as evidenced of his notes, was still lacking and yet to grow.

"Rough...I think it may be so. I try to keep my mind in good, try to think that future is bright. Past is in the dark, I have learned its lessons and I am here now. I regret, but I move past it. I can now only see more, learn more and become more, so no more regret happens."
Salal said, and now her hands were also gesturing and accenting her words. She was glad to be able to share the way she saw and experienced things, she had only ever did so with Tyler. Actually, Tyler had also been the one who had helped Salal realize the way she saw the world and herself. Salal had him to thank for being able to share her mind with Yvarn like this.
Yvarn had mentioned nature, and that automatically made Salal's smile wider and her canines peeked out a bit from under her upper lip.
"Yes, nature is close to here."
Salal pressed a hand against her chest, where her heart was beating, and she had a fond look in her eye as she looked around the nature around them.
"My friend, Tyler, he taught me how to take care of it. How to garden. How to plant and how to make it more beautiful. That is what I do. People let me take care of their nature, their gardens, for them. I can let people see the beauty of nature, it is a gift. They don't think bad of me, so they look with open eyes. I am glad."
Salal was feeling very happy now and she smiled joyfully at Yvarn, her eyes closed. She was glad Yvarn had stopped by, thanks to that Salal's afternoon had become that much more enjoyable.
"I talk too much, I'm sorry. You are good to listen, thank you."

"The past has good things too. Move on, but retain the good it has given you. And this Tyler you speak of must be a really kind company.", Yvarn gave a happy sigh, and upon hearing her claiming she talks too much he made a small addition: "That's not bad, you know. Someone such as yourself must have a lot to tell, but most ends up untold."

However Yvarn himself? He... Din't have much tales himself to tell. A simple life he did have, unlike that of his counterpart from the other universe which came to this one.

"I keep good in mind."
Salal agreed with Yvarn with a nod, but then he mentioned Tyler in present tense and Salal's smile deflated slightly.
"Tyler...he was. Good company, first true friend."
Salal agreed, her voice quieter now. But she did her best to keep the smile on her face, no need to make Yvarn sad just because Salal wasn't sure whether Tyler was alive or not.
"My tale is as I told it. Not much more to it. The rest is...bad. The bad is still inside me. Dark and heavy, here."
Salal pressed her hand against her chest where her heart was, again. She still had lots of bad memories, lots of things she needed to sort out. And they were also things Yvarn didn't need to know.
"But I will become fine. I let time heal. New will grow over the bad and damaged, like burnt tree grows new saplings."

Salal didn't need to tell much, for Yvarn to see it still ached somewhat. He went back to his notebook, improving the sketches a little. "Bad winds comes and goes, but all winds pushes us further ahead, specially the good winds that we need the most.", he was clearly smiling, not only because of what he said but also because of his satisfaction with the course his life has taken.

It was strange how Yvarn had spoken about wind, when the lizardman's scent reminded Salal of that very thing. Like a fresh breeze. Salal stayed quiet for a moment after Yvarn's latest words, her eyes going from his sketchbook to his face. Salal smiled a little and traced the cover of her book with one of her long claws.
"You bring that to mind. A good wind. Your scent is like fresh breeze."
Salal said gently, voicing the thoughts going through her head. This man was very nice and pleasant and cheerful and had brought Salal good feelings and lifted her mood.
"You were good to come here. I was lucky."

"I never had anyone say that about me. Well, not that way, anyways. Perhaps, we both were lucky, after all I have not talked with many here and took a long nap after my arrival. The time difference messed me up a bit.", Yvarn chuckled joyfully.
