Bad Timing

Sakura was walking by the lake when her phone went off. She pulled it out and smiled a bit when she saw it was Satoshi. She had not been able to have a talk with her boyfriend since she had left Japan.

She flipped the phone open and put to her ear. "Mushi, mushi Satoshi." she said cheerfully in Japanese.

(ooc: 'Mushi mushi' is a phone greeting, and the rest of conversation is in Japanese)

"Yes, I arrived her safely. Still trying to get settled in, but it is a nice place," she said happily. She was silent for a few moments, obviously the person on the other side of the phone was speaking.

Her smile slowly faded as she listened to his words. Then a look of anger replaced the smile that was there only a few moments before hand. "And you waited until *after* I left Japan to tell me this?!" she yelled. "You did not have the courage to break up with me to my face?!"

The placid water by her was no longer calm. It had started to swirl and bubble, almost at if it were boiling without being hot. When ever she got angry this seemed to happen. Most people learned to stay out of the water when she lost her temper.

She was quite for a few more moments as the boy on the phone responded. "Yeah! Your right! I would have frozen your butt off! You better HOPE I don't see you again! You will regret it!" she finished before snapping the phone shut.

She could not believe him! That coward had broken up with her without the decency to it to her face! She looked at the charm hanging off of her phone. Satoshi had only given it to her a few weeks ago. Had he already been planning to dump her when her gave it to her? In her anger she pulled the charm off and threw it into the lake.

What a nice day for a jog! He'd already made his way over the trail that cut a swath through the forest, emerging next to crystalline blue waters. The weather was nice and warm in the beginning of the April month, even if the breeze was the slightest bit chilly. It would have nipped at his bare arms on most other days, but he had the foresight to wear a navy blue jacket for his little run around the lake. Ordinarily, he would have brought something to play music with as well, but he had neglected to charge the device lately. Well, it had been nobody's fault but his own, so he had decided just to go without it.

On about his third lap around, he took notice of angry yelling. Now, normally, he wasn't the type to eavesdrop, but the attention grabber was the fact that it was angry Japanese yelling. He slowed his pace to a walk, breathing just the slightest bit quick as he caught his breath and began to listen.

Poor girl, her boyfriend sounded like a real jerk. Who breaks up over the phone? Granted, the man was apparently in Japan, and from the way the lake was churning, this girl was some sort of mutant like he was... Apparently, she was a hydrokinetic like his mother.

Oh that did not bode well.

Figuring he'd try his best to calm her down, he jogged up next to her, smiling in a friendly way and saying, in Japanese, "Sorry to have eavesdropped, but I couldn't help but overhear that little, uh... Thing just now. My name's Seth, who would you happen to be?" Maybe he'd come on a little strong, but what was the worst that could happen? It wasn't like she was going to hit him or something. Just then, though, he recalled what she had said about 'freezing butts off' and gulped.

Sakura was surprised when a boy came up to her. She was a bit shocked that this European boy was speaking Japanese to her. Then it clicked...he was speaking Japanese. THat ment he could understand what she had been saying! Why were all men such scum!?

She glared at him. Without even speaking a word to him she threw a punch and connected with his jaw. SHe knew she hit him pretty hard, but did not really care. Nothing would be broken.

"Do you make it a habit to listen to other people's conversations?" she yelled, now speaking English. "Most people tend to leave when they hear something like this going on!"

The water of the lake was bubbling even worse now. Large pillers of water were shooting into the air. All this churning water made it sound like they were at the base of a water fall. And all it would take would be a motion of her hand to send that water rushing towards Seth.

Uh oh. He could tell just from the quick worsening of her mood that he'd done the wrong thing. Just as he was about to explain, a fist came straight at his face, much too quickly for him to block or move around. Even as he shifted a little to lessen the impact, he felt himself receive a solid whack, right in the nose.

Ugh, the pain! He'd been punched in the face not two days before, and now here it was, happening again! Granted, that had been a completely different situation, and he had more than deserved it... Eh, he probably deserved this one too. Even if his intentions had been good, he shouldn't have eavesdropped.

When she switched to English, he did too, offering a quick- and very sincere- "I'm sorry!" before rubbing his nose. It wasn't bleeding, that was good, and nothing seemed broken. "I just thought I'd try to help; I'm an empath, emotions hit me."

Emotions and fists, he thought with a grimace, all too aware of the lake's movement.

Had Sakura not been so angry at this moment she likely would have accepted Seth's appology. But she was in no mood to do such a thing. It was never a good idea to go have a chat with an angry girl, especially one like Sakura.

She forced herself to control her emotions. She knew all too well what could happen if she completely lost herself. Slowly the waters calmed themselves and went back to normal. Though she still had her fists clenched at her sides, ready for another blow should he do something stupid.

"Empath or not, learn to use a brain," she said. "Or more than just my emotions will be hitting you."

With that she stormed past him and began walking back towards the school. She needed to have some time alone, just to vent. And she needed to punch something. She had a strong urge to punch something and hard.
