Back to the beginning...but even better

Sorcha led the way outside and headed to the spot she liked to practice. It was far enough away that when things didn't go as planned she wasn't likely to hurt anyone. Although, the whole area looked a little rough with her previous attempts at control. She stopped in an area that used to be surrounded with trees but now resembled a victim of a fire, ice storm and hurricane all at once. Inwardly she sighed, they say practice makes perfect. She was almost positive that whomever came up with that saying certainly wasn't aware that practicing could be so darn destructive.

She looked around to where Naka stood and turned away from him. She mentally ran through her powers and figured out that happiness far out weighed her other emotions right now. Besides, the whole area could use a good cleaning. She mentally took herself to that place that she housed her emotions. She liked to consider it her "storage unit". She unlocked the door and visualized the happiness as an emotion flowing through her, flowing from her feet to her head, slowly she raised her hands and her force field surrounded her. It was a pulsing, almost breathing thing. It shimmered and gently moved with the emotions she had learned to harness. She then concentrated on throwing it out towards a section of destroyed trees and moving her hands to her left watched as the trees were picked up and moved in a pile on top of some others.

She mentally pulled in the emotion, stuffing it into storage and as she let her hands drop she turned to Naka,"So, what do you think, its much more controlled right?

Naka nodded and smiled. It had become much more controlled and reliable. After watching her move the tree into the pile he stretched out his left hand.
"Nijimi das kon daku no mo shou, Kuson nadu kyou ku notsua, Waki agarihiteshi shimidematadaki, Nemuri yo sameta geru
Hako huru tetsu no o jiu, Tai zujikaisuro tono ning gyou
Ketsu goseyo! hanpa seyo! shini michi, o mo re no muru koshi. Kaze Kiri!"
He chanted as a huge curved blade of azure wind swept forward, cleanly cutting several of the trees into halves. He then closed his fist so only one finger pointed at the makeshift burn pile.
"Kuro to shiro kinu, nijyuni-kyō, rokujyuroku no ōkan, futtopurinto, tōi kaminari wa, pīku o sashite, sora o yokogitte jikkō daien de ippai no chikyū, daunkyasuto no yoru, kumo, midori no ranku no umi, , ni modoru. Motomeru wa soyu. sutorobo Kaji." He chanted as a heavy looking black flame exploded into existence, burning the trees it made direct contact with into ash and setting the ones near it on fire. Those were the only two spells he chose to use at the moment but he turned to Sorcha and smiled.
"It takes a bit to cast the stronger ones, I guess that's a weakness but they feel more natural." He said.

Sorcha was dutifully impressed as she watched Naka do his thing. But seriously?!!, he was already lucky with the powers he had. Now he comes back after all this time with some extra new abra cadabra and he just made her feel pitifully small. She worked so hard to get where she was and wham! the Golden Boy shines again. She mentally shook herself to get rid of the pity party. She was just jealous of how sure of himself he seemed. This new Naka might take some getting used to.

She smiled at Naka,"I'm glad that they seem more natural, your control on them is excellent. But then again, that doesn't surprise me. You have always been able to use your powers the right way, they never seemed to get away from you. I can't wait to see what other new things you can do. But for now, could you please but out those flame before I get another visit from the Headmaster for ruining school property? I have quite the reputation this past year for being a natural disaster waiting to happen"

She smiled at him and wondered if there was something in her future to make her more than she was. She felt so inadequate when she was around him, her powers were so damn insignificant when it came to something important. She didn't know where the self doubt came from all of a sudden, but she didn't like it. She guessed that she had some more work to do after all.

Naka looked at Sorcha dn smacked himself on the forehead.
"Um... I actually have no way to put out a fire of that size." He said to her. True he had focused in destructive power and he would have cut the wood to kindling but there was no guarantee that he would be able to do it without simply spreading the fire.
"The spells I was able to learn and memorize didn't include water." He said, trying to figure out a way he could possibly put it out.
"Any chance you have a way to handle it?"

Sorcha closed her eyes and gave an exasperated sigh,"The closest thing I can do is either send ice towards it and hope that it melts enough to put it out or I can send out my field that crushes things downward and maybe snuff it out and deny it oxygen." She didn't want to tell him that she had been trying to figure out away to actually combine two of her shields at the same time, they consequences was an almost comatose state the few times she had tried it, and she thought she was so close to doing it too. She had experimented with different combinations to see if one worked better than the others. But for now she would try the depression shield first and hoped that it worked.

She again went into storage and formed her shield, feeling the depression coursing through her. This one power was always the one that got to her, there always seemed to be some lingering effects and ones she had a hard time dealing with. She made the field stronger and with a throw of her hands maneuvered it towards the fire and watched as it slowly became horizontal and as she lowered her arms it encompassed the trees and started to push down on the flames. Some of the smaller ones went out immediately, others took more force and concentration. But eventually they all went out and she staggered back and sat down on the ground."There, that should do it. I'm just going to sit here for a while if you don't mind. The down time after I use my powers just doesn't seem to be getting any better"

Naka nodded and sat down next to her.
"All powers have some sort of drawback. That's yours but you've come a long way and I can tell." He said, putting his arm around her. With that done, he wasn't entirely sure exactly how the school was going to react to sudden rampant destruction on its grounds. With that said he just sat there with her, enjoying the warm air and considering the things that had changed.
"I'm not planning on going anywhere again that you can't come with me. At least not as long as you're around." He said.

"I'm not planning on going anywhere, your stuck with me"Sorcha replied as she smiled her first smile of true contentment in a long time. She was slowly gaining her energy back and if she was honest with herself, maybe she was her biggest drawback. She was an emotional person, but because of her powers, she had to learn to reign them in and stuff them into a box. She needed to learn how to separate her personal emotions with those associated with her powers. Gosh, how she wished she had powers that were easier to use, like reading minds or moving things. She was going to work on them and make them even better, they had to get better if she was going to help Naka.

Thinking back on all that he had told her she realized she had a few more questions for him. Turning her head to look at him she asked,"So, the dying and being born thing, I know you really can't tell me anything more and I understand. But you aren't planning on doing it again soon are you? Is there a quantity attached to it? Like you can only do it so many times and then you can't come back? Because to be honest with you, if that's the case, I would just as soon you not have to use number two. And you said we might get visitors for you, not people we want here I take it? And, jumpin' josies Naka, I guess I do have more questions for you. But if you want to wait on them I understand. I'm enjoying just sitting here with you and knowing your not a figment of my imagination."

Naka shook his head and laughed. He'd expected questions from the one person he could honestly answer them for but for some reason he hadn't thought there would be this many. In hindsight he should have expected it but even though he hadn't thought ahead, he could easily answer most of them.
"I never plan on dying but in the event it happens, I should come back on the next sunrise. Also, and I don't know if it's because of how I come back of if it's because cloths aren't part of the soul, but I'm always reborn naked. Can make it very awkward since I never know where I'll be sent when that happens. As for quantity I'm not sure. I think it depends on if I die something of a hero's death that I won't be allowed to come back but it's not as a punishment, i think it's as a reward though it's not what i want." He stopped after that, pausing before the next question but then continued answering her.
"As for visitors, I don't think I'll be getting any very nice ones. Think Triads, rival Yakuza families, and some people from my own camp. For possibly the next four or five years everyone is going to test my ability to survive and my skills as an Oyabun until I prove myself which means I have to be one step ahead of the game at almost all times. By coming here I'm safe until they find out where I've gone which could be anywhere from a day to six months by my estimate. Add to that the fact that if it's from my own camp they'll probably have powers and I think the Triads have a group with powers as well, not to mention the fact that other families probably have an ace in the hole as far as power users go, there's no telling whether I'll be facing a sniper rifle or a lightning bolt." He explained. The truth of the situation, though grave, was the saving grace. At the very least they probably wouldn't kill people close to him right off the bat. They would be bait, or possibly tortured for information, but they'd be alive. He didn't say this though, after all, nothing was ever for sure, especially where the underbelly of society was concerned.

Sorcha absorbed all that he told her. She understood everything he was saying , and was sure that she had more questions. They could, however, wait until they needed to be answered. She would always regret that she wasn't there when it sounded like he needed help, but it was done. The thing to do now was to be ready for the next time there was trouble and from what she gathered, there was definitely going to be trouble. Turning to look at him she decided that moving forward seemed like a good enough plan.

"So, what have you done since you've been back. Have you seen any of the old group? I kind of fell out of touch with them after you left."She waited for him to answer and then quickly said,"Oh! And what are your plans now?"

Naka shook his head firmly.
"The only one I've seen is Alistair. I've made some new friends but I don't know if the others even go to this school anymore. However I know a great place in the forbidden forest to go adventuring. I haven't been there for a while and last time was with Alistair." He offered. It was the place of his first adventure where he'd learned a new power from Alistair and it was a perfect place to take Sorcha. Besides that the Taisai festival was about start in about a month. That meant Naka could commune with nature to return to the realm of the Amatsu Kami and possibly learn new spells, although it meant he would have to forget some since this body's brain could only handle so much.
