Back to the beginning...but even better

Sorcha looked around at the old familiar empty room. It hurt to be here, just down the hall was the room that she first saw Naka. She used to hide in these rooms, away from the groups of socially adept students she went to school with. She always used to feel so alone, this was the one place she could hide and nobody ever came to look for her. Then in the blink of an eye that all changed when she met him, her Naka. She laughed to herself bitterly, that was a good one, her calling him that. It has been a whole year since she last saw him in Egypt. She spent so much time waiting to hear from him, a letter, a call, a text, something that would let her know that he thought of her, or hell, even remembered who she was. She wondered if she would ever know what happened to him.
Standing up she walked to the window and look outside. She could see, just faintly in the distance the marks she had made on the forest as she rode the emotional roller coaster. Her force fields, which had acquired a level of control went wacky when she lost herself to her feelings. Her fire shield, the one born of anger burned so much those first few months. Then there was the time where she seemed to flatten everything in her way. She would practice but her heart wasn't in it, she was so depressed she would crush anything that was in her fields path. But she finally got a handle on things, apparently it was true that time healed all wounds. She was back to her old self. She had practiced non-stop with her shields and finally got them under complete control. She did it all on her own, she didnt need that damn sword that Naka gave her for her birthday. It was currently sitting in her closet in the dark where she tried to keep thoughts of him anymore. Giving herself a mental shake of the head, she thought it was over and done and she was going to go practice some more. She currently didnt like the thoughts of him running around in her head, it could tear down all of the success she had achieved.

Naka entered the school dorms to move some of his stuff out of the lost and found since it had been moved there when he didn't come back for that period of time. His first stop though, was up to the empty rooms where he could train for a bit. That was the reason he gave himself at least but nostalgia had a way of bringing people back to the areas they once enjoyed. wearing only his black hakama pants, he entered the empty rooms, his sword slung over his left shoulder and no longer wrapped in cloth.

In the course of the year he had been gone, he had missed his friends but the situation he found himself in was extremely dangerous and none of them had been particularly good about staying out of things, especially Sorcha and Alistair. Given this, he had been forced to use a little deceit in order to get everything accomplished. This decision became more regrettable, however, when he finally reached the interior rooms to find Sorcha. His own heart skipped a beat, but he knew this particular meeting would be inevitable. He had determined when he returned to the island that at some point he was going to see Sorcha again, and when he did it was going to be a long discussion... Unfortunately, just like any guy that had ever gotten into a fight with his girlfriend, he had gone this entire way without thinking about what he was going to say.
"Um... honey I'm home?" He said with a smile, hoping to lighten up the situation.

Sorcha stopped dead in her tracks when she heard his voice. She closed her eyes tightly, took in a deep breath and thought to herself that there was no way that HE was behind her after all this time. It had to be because she had just been thinking about him...again. Slowly turning around she laid eyes on someone she considered her best friend, the one person she had thought would have never walked away from her, and to be honest with herself the one she had given her heart to. She wanted to run to him and feel those arms around her. She wanted to feel a connection to someone again.

He grew into himself is what she first thought. He was taller and his body had become much more defined. He no longer looked like he was promising to be a man, he was built like one now. His muscles were more defined and he looked more comfortable in his body. Oh how her hands itched to touch him, to hug him and make sure he was real.

She finally threw a mental fortitude check and finally looked him in the eyes. What she saw there was different, he wasn't the Naka she knew. He looked back with much older eyes, ones that had seen a lot. Which made her remember that maybe she could have been there for him for whatever put that look in his eyes if only he had let her. But no, her he was walking in like it was just last week she saw him.

The anger was building again, she could feel it travel her veins much like her blood did. It was the hardest thing she would ever do but she was bound and determined to be calm and not let him know what seeing him again was doing to her. She drew on all of the recent hard won knowledge of herself and she calmly said,"That would only be appropriate if I was your honey and you considered this home, but as you have shown in the past year, that is not the case at all"

Happiness started to turn to annoyance. He had at least half expected Sorcha to be angry with him, but he hadn't expected her to be this cold. Annoyance eventually turned to anger. Although he hadn't ever considered himself unfortunate, he had been through enough that this kind of reception wasn't warranted.
"I see. If that's the case I'll be off. It's no longer necessary for me to train here anyway. Between the death of my father, having to kill my uncle, being forced to shoulder several gigantic burdens, and my subsequent death and resurrection and all the opposition that brings, I think i have enough enemies that I don't need this. I'm sorry to have bothered you." He said sharply, turning around to walk away. If it took another year he would wait for her to forgive him, but he didn't need anyone else to make him feel more guilty about his life as it stood or anyone else judging him for his actions. The fact of the matter was that those he cared about were all safe and sound and that knowledge was enough to justify his decision.

"Wait!" Sorcha said as she watched Naka start to walk away. She couldn't do it, she wasn't capable of pretending that seeing him was a bad and terrible thing."Please, don't go. I missed you so much when you didn't come back. I felt like you turned your back on me, on what we are to each other. It sounds like you went through hell, and I want to know what happened."

She slowly walked towards him and stopping just short waited for him to answer her. When the silence grew, her eyes started to water. She couldn't go through this again. "I don't want to be your enemy. I want to listen to where you were and all that you went through. I want to know that you being gone for so long with no contact was worth it. Can we just please sit down and talk?"The tears started to fall, she couldn't hold them in anymore. Just faintly she whispered one last plea, "Please"

Naka turned back around, all traces of anger or any emotion other than happiness was gone. He was happy to see Sorcha again and he didn't feel the need to hide it.
"There were a number of things that happened. I had to separate myself from everyone because of the things that needed to be dealt with in Japan. As it turns out, professor Kageroryu was my father and he gave me my sword and told me he was my father before he died. I learned about my mother's death and who she was and that the parents who died when I was kid were adoptive. Add to that I'm a yakuza heir and as of now I'm currently the head of that Yakuza family because I managed to kill my uncle for the position. I copied the powers of all the forbidden scrolls in the world including the one in egypt and I died and came back to life, hence the change in powers." He explained, telling her more than normal but leaving the part about Amaterasu and Naka's future as a god out of the equation. The information he'd given was already more than enough to digest.

After explaining this his features softened and he continued.
"It's not all back though. I have money now, access to some pretty neat toys, family, resources, and knowledge out of the deal." He added with a smile.

Sorcha sat there and tried to digest everything Naka just said. There were numerous questions shooting through her brain and she was trying to figure out which one should be the first one she let get to her mouth."Ok, I can work with all the rest but the one thing you said that I want to know about first is, you died? and yet you are here alive and in front of me. How did that happen? What brought you back?

The other questions came fast and furious and she was afraid if she didn't get them all out he was going to disappear again before she could find out all that transpired."Your adopted? Yakuza? as in THE YAKUZA? Did you even know about this uncle? Why did he want you dead? The forbidden scrolls? The ones you told me about? And what are your new powers?

She walked to a table where there were a couple of chairs and sat down in one and gestured for him to sit in another."Please Naka, if you dont mind can you tell me a little more?"

Naka shook his head.
"Yakuza as in Yakuza family. It's not as bad as people think and as organized crime goes, the Yakuza is probably the best of the bunch. I had to fight my uncle for control of the family, and yes the forbidden scrolls I told you about. As for my death and resurrection that will need to have as little detail as possible. My new powers are more learned than born with. I use the spells that shinto gods use but I can't use them to the same extent. All of that being said, what have you been doing while I've been gone?" He asked. It still wasn't going to help things if he explained what all of the situation behind his death and resurrection and he really needed to shy away from those. He didn't think she would react well to the news and he wasn't about to ruin a good thing by telling her about it. It would be thousands of years probably before he went back to assume his role as an Amatsu kami so the point was irrelevant anyway.

Sasha leaned over and lightly touched Naka's arm."You went through so much. I wish I could have been there for you, had your back if nothing else"

She leaned back and sighed, what was she supposed to tell him? She didn't want to go through her steps back into her old self. She didn't want him to feel guilty. It sounded like he more than had his hands full with his dying and all. She could see how that might put a cramp in the whole contacting Sorcha thing. So, she told him what she thought was best.

"I have been working hard on my powers, they were a little wacky for a while. I practiced for hours without the sword you gave me, just in case I didn't have it on my when I really needed them. I am proud to say that they are almost completely where I wanted them. I am almost always in control of them now. I was determined to make them the best I could. I think you will be surprised when you see them in action again. And I am seriously hoping that you brought some action back because its been boring around here."

Naka chuckled slightly but he was proud Sorcha had managed on her own.
"Oh I'm sure someone will be coming for me here sooner or later. It probably won't be from Japan for a while though." He said, sure of his words. The first five years of a new Oyabun were crucial since many didn't live through that. Usually people would target an them while they were getting used to their new position and were at their weakest and most vulnerable. In this case however, Naka had brought a few people into the fold who were quite powerful and already on his side, not to mention his father's supporters. That just left the Triads, and any hired assassin that might be sent from outside of Tokyo.
"It'll take a while for them to find me here. Let's go outside, I'd love to see your new skills."
