Eliza had arrived at the school not long ago and was currently on his way to the admissions office to get all the blasted paperwork he'd need. This was annoying and he sort of wished he didn't have to be here, but the only way he would control this power was to go to a school where others had powers. However, no one could possibly understand how horrible his was and how cancer and disease followed him like the plague. He hadn't yet discovered completely what he could do, but he didn't really want to.

He entered the office and introduced himself with a snarl and then waited for the papers. When they finally handed them to him they stopped him to explain a few things and he stood there with a grumpy look on his face. He didn't hear a word they said mostly because he was sure that everything they had told him was on the papers they had given them. Just to prove this he scanned the papers before leaving and found everything that they'd told him. His room number and all that. See, it was pointless listening to their babble.

Eli shook his head in annoyance as he walked toward the door out of the office. Pushing it open he ran smack into someone who was on their way in.He jumped back manically, looking at his gloves to find them on and his shirt sleeves to find them tucked into his gloves like normal. He sighed in relief and snapped his gaze back up to the person he'd run into.

"Watch it." He snapped with a snarl. He pushed his sunglasses up his nose and moved passed them to go.

Laura was fuming , how could she have lost the key to her dorm? What sort of an eejit am I? , she asked herself, irritated. She usually kept everything extremely organised, so she'd know where to find everything. Suddenly it dawned on her, she must have dropped the key when she was running away from those annoying guys she had just pranked. There was no way she was going back there to find it, she had dignity. Besides she didn't want them to try beat her up. They had looked pretty mad, but it served them right for being such jerks in the first place.

Besides, it wasn't that bad having to get a new key, at least they didn't charge you for it. It only meant she had to wait around in the admissions office with all the newbies for an hour or so. Oh wait, that's my version of Hell. .

"Oi!" Laura yelped as she felt herself collide with someone else. A tall someone else at that, and bony. So God damn bony . She looked up, she had to strain her neck a little, this guy was almost half a foot taller than her. Why is he wearing sunglasses inside? What a douche. "Why don't you watch it mister?" She snapped, suddenly feeling anger boiling inside her again. She felt something else though, more subtle than the anger but, she felt curious. This guy had weird marks on his skin, and she was wondering why they were there. It'd be rude to ask though.

It was hard to see things from up in the clouds for Eli. He honestly didn't think he was terribly tall, but he was taller than most people he met. But this person was particularly short. He wondered why she didn't get shadowed over. She could have avoided him if she had been paying attention. But she hadn't been. And with his comment and the whole bumping into each other thing, both of them were pissed off. Which was good. Sort of.

Eliza didn't enjoy being mad, but he had to act it to make others mad at him. It was the only way to keep people off of him. It appeared to be working pretty well with the shorty standing in front of him.Which was the good part of the two of them being mad.

He shook his head and sneered when she said that he should watch it. Really, repeating what someone just said wasn't very appealing. But, carrying his stuff, he bumped passed her to head down the hallway while muttering grumpily to himself about the whole event. He'd leave her to what she was doing near the admissions office. Whatever that was.

"What is she, a human echo?" He muttered, likely loud enough that she heard. He hated that he couldn't wear a full body mask at the school. Instead, he had to be stared at for the red lines all over his face. Luckily, it looked like it was just his face. Though it covered his entire body. It was a good thing Laura hadn't asked him about it. Not only was it rude, but it would be like setting off a time bomb. He had no rational reason to lash out if someone asked about them, but it ticked him off and he would.

"Rude." Laura muttered as he didn't even answer her. "Who does he even think he is?" He just walked straight past her, no apology. Then again she didn't exactly expect it from his sort. He looked like the kind of person who was full of themselves, I mean he wears sunglasses inside for Christ's sake.

'"What is she, a human echo?' Laura snapped around, to face him. She glared at him, momentarily forgetting her reason for being here and walked over towards him. She jabbed a finger at his chest, "Who the hell do you think you are, talking about me like that?"

"I am not a human echo , I did not repeat what you said did I?" Laura laughed coldly and shook her head. "Clearly you don't know what echo means."

Heads.

*Pling*

Heads.

*Pling*

....

Heads.

Ives sauntered lesiurely down the austere halls of the administration section of the Starlight Academy. Black and white marble. Busts of past headmasters. Afternoon sun made patchwork of the gleaming floor.

*pling*

Heads.

A glimmer of sun caught the silver coin he tossed as he walked. With a slight telekinetic manipulation, the result was heads yet again. Ives had been practicing all day; he barely had to think about it now. But soon, practice would come to an end, as he came close to arriving at the admissions office for his schedule, and to clear his semester bill. Luckily, grants covered most of it. He had planned on arriving at three thirty local time. It was a ten minute walk from his dorm, but he had left 20 minutes early with the intention of walking twice as slow.

*pling*

...

Ives caught the spinning coin in his hand but stopped short of checking the result of the toss, as an impediment to his progress had arisen. Two souls, one occupying a tall, lithe, male body, and the other in a short, frail, womanly one, stood in opposition within the very doorframe through which it was his intent to pass.

"What's the situation here?" he drawled complacently at the two, mostly interested in seeing the delay in his progress cleared up. He figured he had eight minutes to spare on this incident, maximum, without upsetting his schedule. The waning afternoon sun danced in his yellow, spiky hair and across the shoulders of his bright red hoodie as he awaited a response.

Why did Eliza need to answer a question he had already asked? Honestly, she hadn't answered his part anyway, why should he answer hers? We'll, alright, his wasn't really a question, but it might as well have been. But instead of saying excuse me, like most people he bumped into, she had been a grump right back at him. Which was fine enough.

But when she caught up to him to seemingly accuse him of idiocy, he scoffed and rolled his eyes along with his head. This was getting really annoying. Why couldn't she drop it like a good little human being and run along? Holding grudges was a bad thing. Eli didn't hold grudges. He was just grumpy toward everyone so that they knew to stay their distance. But apparently this didn't work on this girl.

"Yes, I know the definition of echo. I do believe I wasn't being literal and quite sarcastic. But I guess someone of such small mindset wouldn't be able to tell." He said while looking down on her with a cold, angry look on his face. She should leave him alone now. He shook his head and passed her a second time, then being interrupted by some random dude.

"Buzz off." He snapped, utterly infuriated that some dude would just walk up and ask what was going on. It was none of his business. If he was headed toward the office, the doorway had not been occupied for some time and he was free to enter if he really wanted.

Laura stood with her arms crossed, a stern look on her face and she was tapping her foot to a steady beat. She was waiting for this man to answer her question, let's see what this bigshot has to say for himself, eh? . Of course, she hadn't been expecting him to bite back with his own round of insults.

"A small mindset ?" Laura repeated with a mocking tone. "I'm sorry I didn't realise we were talking about you." She frowned, a scowl appearing on her features. "What you're saying doesn't make any sense." She told him, "why would you insult me, but then say the insult is sarcasm?" She shook her head, he confused her to say the least.

Somewhere at the back of her mind Laura knew she should walk away, but she couldn't . Perhaps it was because she was curious or No, I can not be building a crush on him He's a dick. . Though she had to admit he was attractive.

Somebody else interrupted them and Laura directed her scowl at them. "Yeah, what he said." For once she was agreeing with the tall stranger standing before her. She still hadn't found out his name.
