A little girl sits quietly in a corner
She wraps her arms around her,
A small bear hands from one hand
The tears fall from her eyes
A constant flow of sorrow
She wakes up every night and screams for a father not there
She gets up and walks over to her closet
Where she opens the door and crawls onto the shelf
Trying to remember the time he came and promised not to leave
Not to let the darkness take over
She cries like this every night
Remembering that promise broken
Until one day she realizes it cannot go on
She stops the tears with the blinking of her blue eyes
And walks back to her bed
She cries no more
No ever again
Not for the man who lied and betrayed her
Years down the track
She’s moved on
She lives a new life
Not alone, but never the same
She learnt to be strong
Learnt not to cry
But the pain was still there
Buried deep inside
She goes about her life like nothing affects her
She walks the streets standing tall and unafraid
Than she gets a note, just a small letter
It has an address, the one refused previously
She decides to take the leap
She needs to find out why
She picks up her pen and begins to write
Every word she ever wanted to express
She sends it away and waits for a reply
And than it comes...
Now this girl has forgiven
How she does not know...
The darkness is still there
It will always creep around the edges of her mind
And the days will come when she wants to be alone
When she wants to just remember
To remember what put her in a position she didn't want
She had to become the protector
And sheltered those who should have sheltered her
She was called cold hearted because she refused to express her hatred and her pain
She refused to cry in front of them
In fear of remembering that night
True she became stronger
But at a price
So now you tell me...
Can you tell that little girl that everything will be alright?
She wraps her arms around her,
A small bear hands from one hand
The tears fall from her eyes
A constant flow of sorrow
She wakes up every night and screams for a father not there
