"Mm, I guess it is...! pretty cool.." Allan smiled. He often got that response from his old friends. That or the ironic 'oh he's a ComSci major, he's way out of our league' banter. He was used to it, basically; it was nothing new.

Seeing his roommate offer a seat on his own bed, Allan hesitated for a moment. He figured it was a bit awkward that he was talking to him while he was standing there by the wall. But he wasn't sure about sitting right next to this guy he literally just met. Then again, he'd be living in the same room as him; so what was the harm?

Shrugging his doubts away, Allan took a seat next to Corbin, and read his message.

He gave the other student another smile, "Well, I suppose I do have a bit of a background and all that..." he said, a little bit distantly. He never really actually did any of his artworks. He never considered them his own works because his thoughts seemed to be clouded every time he did. And he was sure he never planned out any of his paintings.

"You though? Ah... I'm guessing you're in high school by now, right? Do you have any plans for college already?" he asked, rather unsure of his own question.

Corbin blinked at the boy next to him before looking up at the ceiling to think. Hm, plans for college? He's never really thought about it before. He just figured that he'd stay there at the Academy for as long as he could without really doing anything specific. He supposed that he has to at least think of something for college if that was the long term plan.

Was he even good at anything? He only does things out of necessity or if it was asked of him. He didn't really have any particular talent of his own. You'd think he would have discovered something about himself considering he spends most of his days alone, but nothing really came to mind.

Maybe he'll just pick something random that was doable and passable. Or he could just scrap his plan and do menial labor once he graduates. He still has a year or so left to think about it; no rush.

Turning back to Allan, he gave the other boy a small shrug.

"I never really thought about it before. I don't think I'm really good for anything." he writes down on his board before showing Allan.

While Allan read Corbin's reply, he couldn't help but crack another small smile. Though this time, it was more or less sort of apologetic, somewhat. He gave the younger boy a gentle pat on the shoulder as he said: "I'm sure you're good at something...!" he said, trying to cheer on him. "To be really honest, I wasn't completely decided when I got to college, but I guess I sorta just managed it out without having to change majors." he explained.

Allan never really had plans for college himself, but his parents wanted him to have a better future and all those cliche things. From where he grew up, he needed that college diploma to get a decent job. Who even knew he was going to move out though?

"You've still got a year to think about it, I guess..! Maybe you could try and think about it for a while; you don't have to pressure yourself." he said, getting into the 'older brother' mode all too quickly.

[[ i almost typed "senpai mode"
i was going to laugh at myself if i accidentally did xD ]]

Corbin knew it wasn't so much pressuring himself as it was trying to look for something he was at least decent at. He's been doing nothing the past few years of his life, only doing work for school and such. He was honestly good at nothing.

Seeing Allan talking to him and enthusiastically trying to help him out, Corbin had to smile. He hasn't really experienced things little things like this before where he had someone cheering him on and telling him that he could do something better for himself. He didn't want to just say no and insist he was horrible. Having someone look out for him was something new that he wanted to keep.

"Maybe," he writes in his board, "I still don't know where to start though."

((Corbin has kira kira sparkles all around him as he stares up at Allan-senpai and writes "Allan-senpai is so sugoi desu!"))

[[ allan-senpai is too shy for this. corbin-kouhai pls ]]

Allan hummed in thought. Truth be told, Allan had always been surrounded by people who were considered geniuses in their fields. He had always been the odd one in the bunch because the only thing he knew how to do best was trying to live through whatever hell school threw at him. He never considered himself great at anything. At the most, he thought of himself as the "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of guy. He couldn't even master his power yet and it's been how many years since he discovered it?

The older student let out a soft sigh, "Hm. Let's see..." he hummed again, putting a finger at his chin in thought, "Have you ever thought of what you liked best? You interests and stuff like that?" he asked curiously. Surely, Corbin had something up his sleeve, right?

((no corbin-kouhai wants senpai to notice him))

Corbin thought about it long and hard. What was he good at? He used to play football when he was younger and had his family, but that's been a long time ago. Even if he wanted to get back into it, there is the highest probability that with just one look at him, no team would accept him.

He never really spent much time outside of his room so he's never done anything worth mentioning. He only stays indoors and binge-watch whatever he can lay his hands on.

Sticking to that, he wrote on his board,

"I like watching movies if that helps." he says, "But I don't think that's something you can build a future on."

[[ im crying x'D ]]

"Mm.. movie critiquing?" Allan suggested jokingly. He wasn't sure what that actually even meant himself. He was set up for a college degree that would have landed him a decent job. It never meant he was good at it. If that had been the case, he might as well have taken something like a major in Botany or something along that line. But his parents had other ideas.

"You have some more time to think about it so you don't need to force it out now." he said reassuringly, lightly patting Corbin on the shoulder, "I just sorta.. didn't have much of a choice on my part since people expected too much from me and all that."

((Hyper, you double posted.))

Corbin chuckled silently at Allan's suggestion. It was a possibility, but he doesn't see himself as enough of a critical theater to be able to critique anything properly. If anything, he'd give everything 5 stars just as long as he found it entertaining.

He smiled at Allan as the older of the two proceeded to reassure of him of a future he wasn't even sure he'd be able to have. His eyes crinkling at the sides, outwardly showing his gratitude.

"It must be nice," he wrote on his board after Allan finished speaking, "having people expect things from you."

He was sure that wasn't what Allan had in mind, but Corbin missed having people looking up at him and telling him he could do so much more in his life than the rut he was in now. Glancing at Allan, he supposed that short moment they had was the closest thing Corbin would be able to experience to that again.

[[ whoops. sorry the internet isnt all that good at home-- ]]

Allan's bright smile faded slightly as he read Corbin's reply. It was nice, in comparison to being put down or underestimated. But Allan never really found how to appreciate it. The pressure was too much for him to take. Even though it was thanks to that, Allan was able to do things, but the mental stress wasn't really worth it.

"I suppose it has it's perks and all that..." he began, lightly kicking his leg at the floor, "But the stress isn't really worth it sometimes. It's good to do things at your own pace too."

Noticing the uncomfortable tension in the air, Corbin laid his hand on Allan's shoulder as an apology. He knew he shouldn't have said that, he could clearly see how Allan hadn't liked that he was pressured into doing something he wasn't really into. Corbin could somehow imagine how that would feel like.

He gets his board and briefly wrote a message,

"Well, I guess you can let loose for a while while you're here in the academy :)"

Trying to lighten the mood, he shows Allan what he wrote. Hoping that he didn't screw things over already by talking about things the other didn't want to.

((It's okay. :) ))
