Character's Name: Aurora Cecilia Silivasi-Awren - "Thirteen"
Character's Age: 148 years, give or takes maybe 10-20 for time shenanigans.
Character's Birthday: December 7th.
Character's Gender: Female.
Category: Teacher
Birth Place / Hometown: Clarion Concordia, Horizon
Occupation: Director of Music, Starlight Academy; Curator, The Chronologists

Appearance Description: Aurora appears strangely young for her age, no doubt as part of an extensive and permanent magical effect keeping her from aging as she should as a human. (Roughly 7-10 times slower.) The Chronomancer weighs about one-hundred and ten pounds or about fifty kilograms, and stands at a height of five feet, two inches. Casual attire includes a blue textured dress with a red cape, torn at the edges. The dress is adorned with gold accents, usually timepieces of sorts. She is always seen with a gold plated, brass clockwork hairpiece on her left side. In last addition, she has a strange, matrix-like black mark on the left side of her face and down her body some ways.

Her professional dress, the stuff she teaches in is much more conserved. A simple white blouse, black tie and skirt.

Personality Description: Aurora is often described as light-hearted, somewhat eccentric and strangely childlike for her actual age; her demeanor is closest to someone in their twenties, although of course there are those pangs of her showing age that shine through on the occasion depending on mood and the subject of conversation. Aurora suffers from a few neurological conditions, although none are particularly severe:

Time-space synaesthesia: A condition where the sufferer "sees" time. Often these periods of time appear in a circular calendar around Thirteen, and may take the appearance of colors or shapes that are significant to her.

Hyperthymesia: A likely result of long-time use of Chronokinesis, Aurora is capable of remembering any event that happens in her life. This is different from eidetic memory, in that she cannot simply memorize information from a book to recall later; in fact, she is quite bad at memorizing some things, and takes more time than a normal person to do so.

Thirteen is also strangely, polyamorous, and bisexual. She has no qualms about having multiple partners, and does not have jealousy towards her partners that may pursue other romantic interests.

She's also very imaginative and whimsical. And dark. Sometimes a mix.

Powers: Centuries ago, a group of Awakened on the world of Horizon theorized that the universe was made of nine elements or spheres, elements of which described the very reality in which the Tellurian operated on. Much like the Standard Model of Physics, the nine spheres, each explained one facet of reality as we see it today: Correspondence, entropy, forces, life, matter, mind, prime, spirit, and time. Each tradition is known to specialize into one of these spheres, their mages becoming masters of them. As an awakened mage, Aurora has a powerful avatar that is technically open to manipulating all nine spheres...however, she chose to specialize in the two that she felt the most connection with: time and entropy.

Time (Chronokinesis): The sphere of time is a magic that all men, and even supernaturals know. It ebbs and flows into an uncertain future that is immutable and undeniable. The sphere governs this passing of time in all directions: past, present and future, along with the jumping of timelines entirely. Small warpings of time allow one to scry into the temporal horizon, while full on tears may slow, stop or reverse time altogether. Despite its apparent power, time magic beyond scrying is almost certain to draw the weight of paradox down on the user. It should also be noted that while time travel to the future is reasonably easy, going to the past is extremely difficult, and transforming the past even more so unless reality has already been pre-warped by another supernatural occurrence. Mages with high levels in time magic are known to cause deja vu, or random, but non-dangerous temporal fluctuations around them.

Entropy (Tychokinesis): Luck, fate, chance and chaos are the prime components to the sphere of entropy. From this sphere comes the study of order and randomness and thus, the study of random creation and destruction. Entropy at its core, whether in thermodynamics or the supernatural, invokes the notion that all things break down, and new things rise from the disorder. Practically, entropy focuses on how systems break down. In the supernatural sense, entropy controls the destiny of objects or people. These mages focus on how mystical and physical patterns break down and are put together and thus lies the majority of their power. Awakened at high levels of this sphere have an air of always being in the right place at the right (or wrong) time, and those people that can detect supernatural auras will note a very dark, swirling vortex around a nigh impenetrable core. Aurora's entropy skills are nigh at their peaks, and can shut down any supernatural effect by breaking apart the very concept on their workings. (This can effectively counter someone who can otherwise block powers.)

Although a master in two of the nine spheres, Aurora has rudimentary knowledge of the other seven as prerequisites for more powerful rituals. In a nutshell, she can in fact, throw a fireball. But it's expected that this fireball would be much weaker in comparison to any student who is a pyromancer. The advantage of this is that students can actually teach Aurora things as well, although she is of course limited by paradox.

Weaknesses: The power to bend reality in such a way is powerful no doubt, but every awakened mage suffers from a severe drawback: paradox. There are more than seven billion people on the planet, each of which has a tiny amount of magical potential. However, most of those seven billion do not believe magic exists, and it is that belief that prevents mages from ever realizing their incredible potential, as a mage's magic is charged by their own willpower. Whenever Aurora casts magic, she fights against the paradigm of the world itself. Magic cast that does not appear mundane, such as throwing fireballs incurs paradox, a force that attempts to correct the "error" in reality. Magic cast that appears mundane on the other hand, does not incur paradox. (As an example, throwing a fireball at a car is considered 'vulgar'. Using entropy to weaken a nearby street light to fall on the car however, is not, and will not incur paradox since it appears believable by sleeper standards.) Depending on the power of the magic cast, the resulting paradox may come back as a headache...or hit like a freight train. The only way to bypass this limit is with copious amounts of the prime sphere (which she doesn't have), or by someone else attracting paradox first.

Starlight Academy is one of the rare places that Aurora can actually cast magic without severe backlash because of its highly receptive supernatural population, although this does not in any way make her immune. The scar on her face is one example of this paradoxical force. Her specialty spheres, time and entropy are at high resonance levels, and will also occasionally cause small paradox manifestations around Aurora. She tries to hide these as best as possible, but often, books will gather dust extremely quickly, or people will have strange senses of deja vu around her. None of these forces are dangerous...just weird and quirky.

Discovered when: Aurora was a known awakened when she was born, but could not manifest any effects until the age of twelve.
Discovered how: The offspring of two awakened mages, she was practically guaranteed to have some sort of ability. She has had well over 120 years to practice and perfect her art.

History -

Biography: Born in Clarion Concordia on the world mages know as Horizon, Aurora was the second child of three, and the only female that would be born to a pair of the world's awakened. Her parents were devout nationalists, and believed whole-heartedly in bringing magic back to Earth. Aurora on the other hand, along with her brothers Anatole and Alistair were something of problem children, always getting into some sort of mischief, although acting as the brains of the outfit, it was rare that the little mage was ever blamed for anything; most of their pranks were much like the magic tricks sleepers used to captivate each other. They were nothing more than little visual illusions...but even Aurora admitted that they were fun to watch during her visits to Earth.

Aurora's teenage and young adult years brought a marked change to her and her brothers activities. While Anatole refused to be initiated into any of the nine mystic traditions of the council, Alistair was initated by many an exam into the Order of Hermes, a forces-based tradition that relies on rote study and practice. While supposedly the smart one of the group, Aurora was also one of the fastest...dexterous, and ruthless.

The Euthanatos...or to Aurora's preference, the old Chakravanti: a group of modern death mages. Very few of the awakened choose to be a part of this group, most are instead recruited during each person's school days or during their awakening. At the young age of ten, Aurora, or Thirteen, for the thirteenth recruit for their year, the Chakravanti whisked her away for five long years. Away from her parents, her friends, her brothers, and anyone else that was remotely related.

The experience of becoming one of the council's assassins was immediate and quite dramatic to say the least. The Chakravanti are not simply killers; they are healers, and they take lives with nothing less than the utmost respect for their subjects. To this end, every student, or Shravaka, are assigned to a mentor, and undergo the Diksha, a rite of passage within the group. This rite is the first lesson given to every new apprentice, and is meant to force the student to truly learn to value each and every life they come across. And to this second end...the Diksha involves the death of the apprentice in a way prescribed by the mentor, and tailored to each student. Aurora's mentor was never a cruel man, and never seeked to purposely harm any of his kin. The value however, of this first lesson meant that Thirteen, as she had come to be known by her peers, was subjected to an extremely painful and excruciating process of torture lasting the better part of a day. At midnight and one minute the day after this process, Aurora was killed with a single shot to the head, and remained dead for the better part of an hour was her body was preserved by her mentor's time magic.

The experience changed Thirteen's life, as it did for many other in her class. Of the 50 that had been recruited, only 20 remained; the rest having voluntarily left the recruitment process, or more rarely, truly dying during their Diksha ceremony. And of those 20, all of them would endure five years of schooling, training, and other processes that would ready them for their jobs as the council's elite.

The training and education Aurora received was among the mage's best: her understanding in time and entropy was some of the best among Chakravanti, and well above average for her age even throughout Horizon and those mages residing on Earth. Those skills would be put to use first in 1891 with her first use of the 'good death': a killing of someone considered 'evil' by most standards. The name has been since lost to history. After her first successful kill, Thirteen was promoted, and allowed to finally go out, live and learn by herself with occasional consultation from her mentor.

And live she did, faithfully keeping up her job for over 70 years. In that time, Aurora met her husband Arkady, and settled down together on Earth. Arkady was something of a strange person in the mage world; a sleeper with no true magical talent, but he had the strange ability to suppress the paradox effect that other mages incurred when casting spells around sleepers. Arkady was fully aware of Aurora's job, and the magical world and yet he never could cast his own. The pair would have four kids together, and Arkady would die sometime in the 1980s of natural causes, although his spirit still lives in the nearby umbral realms. Aurora and Arkady don't talk much because of the disconnect, but he does occasionally visit his family to see how things are going.

In her travels and work, Aurora had long out-paced her deceased masters and mentors using a variety of techniques to keep herself young, continuing the work of the Chakravanti long into the next century. Unfortunately, an event involving her brother Alistair would push her away from the tradition in 1993, when her closest family member would be indicted by the Council of Nine for magically inciting genocide in the Bosnian War for personal profit. Unlike mundane politics, there was no trial for magical crimes against humanity. Should her brother fall to jhor and become a marauder...an insane mage, the repercussions would have been devastating for anyone involved. Aurora took the matter on herself, and killed Alistair with an entropic blade in the dead of night...and soon left active service from the Chakravanti after the deed was done, instead taking up the teaching of mundane subjects that she had learned (they were many), and enjoyed during her time on Earth.

The Council of Nine accepted her resignation from active duty, and for her lifetime of service and accomplishment with the magical arts, promoted her to the rank of Acarya and Avatara, teacher and oracle respectively; titles which she would keep when Starlight Academy invited her to teach, not to kill, but to live and learn.

Personality -

Worst Memory: As a member of the Chakravanti, a mage is entrusted with the assassinations of often high-profile targets, terminating their lives in the belief that the "good death" will allow them to restart their lives anew, free from the corruption of their pasts. Aurora can vividly remember having to kill her brother, Alistair, a ranking council member due to his murder of innocents during the Bosnian War for profit. Although both parties understood why, Thirteen has never forgiven herself for letting him go through with the action in the first place.

Best Memory: Other than her marriage to Arkady, Aurora's best memory stems from achieving the rank of Avatara with the Chakravanti, and being allowed to teach not the ways of their people, but instead mundane subjects instead. In a way, going to Starlight Academy to teach is still one of the best experiences of her life, considering a somewhat dark past.

Likes: Aurora has a particular fondness for art and choral music, although that should be obvious given her profession. Despite her stature, Thirteen loves food of almost any type, and can almost constantly be seen with something to munch on, be it an apple, fish and chips, or a whole salmon. Aurora also has an affinity for her students, and genuinely cares about each and every one of them.

Dislikes: Although caring of her students, she has a disliking of those that abuse their abilities to get what they want. Aurora is also not a crowd person...a strange trait for a teacher, but she feels that the intimate nature of a musical group means that the group dynamic is less of a party, and more of family.

Weaknesses: Aurora in her age and experience had the chance to become one of the ascended, however, this obviously did not happen. Thirteen is emotional, and holds many earthly ties, effectively turning away from ascension for something lesser. There are certain people she likes and cares for, and these people may be used as leverage against her to good effect depending on the circumstances.

Strengths: Aurora's force of will, by all accounts. Her abilities to shape reality are driven by it, and it is nigh unbreakable. She is capable of killing, and can watch the natural cycle of life and death like it's as simple as breathing. Thirteen has a generally positive outlook on life however, and despite her age, maintains an incredible ability to fight in almost any condition.

Fears: Knowledge is not always power. Aurora has fears of the far off future, of timelines where she has seen both the best, and the worst that humanity has to offer. The worst part is, there is very little that she can do about it in the present...if the timeline hasn't been tampered with, her ideals prevent interference no matter her personal fear.

Habits: Have you seen her wardrobe? Aurora is not normal. Although on a planet of modern design and social composition, Thirteen has a strange anachronistic quality to her, preferring classical, and semi-colorful mage robes, weapons and styles. Her office is decorated in clocks, and many an antique can be found in either office close to the Auditorium, or the 4th floor of the library.

Skills / Talents /Hobbies: Aurora is something of a polymath, and takes after the teachings of Leonardo da Vinci as her inspiration of learning. She is not a real master of any one talent, but she possesses vast capabilities in a wide variety of fields, music and magical engineering being her finest. She has recently taken up cooking as a pastime, and occasionally will ask people recipes to try out. Although adept with a variety of instruments, Aurora's best is arguably...the drums. :shakefist:
