Welcome to the Alternate Universe contest, a chance to explore what your characters lives could be like in another reality. Every AU contest has a set theme, and each AU contest leads into a virtual reality sim VR game, where your character can experience that life through the space station's VR simulator.
What Kind of Contest is This?
This is a contest to create a character draft for a specified AU or theme. This is not the same thing as an application (the format is different, and it's far shorter), intended to give people an idea of what your character would be like in a given AU. Characters should be a version of one of your (already accepted) characters, but re-imagined! Applications will be judged on creativity, faithfulness to the original character app, and the overall general concept.
For example, if the example was 'werewolf AU', and you made your half-wolf character into a werewolf, that would be faithful, but not terribly creative. If you had a character who had been attacked by an animal in the past as a significant part of their character history, and rewrote it so it was a werewolf attacking them (leading them into their career as a werewolf hunter), that would be both creative and faithful.

How Do I Enter?
To enter, grab the form in the second post, decide your idea, fill it out, and then POST IT IN THIS THREAD: Entry Thread. Please do not post it here or PM it to a mod. Anyone can enter as long as they have at least one accepted character (if you're accepted during the contest period, that's fine), but since mods will be doing the judging, mods cannot win.
Any Other Restrictions?
In order to give everyone time to enter, the contest period will take ten days of entries. The winners will be announced (and all entries posted publicly) on the 1st of the following month. Players are free to continue submitting new entries past the contest due date, but entries will not be judged for the contest itself.
Other Rules:
These apps are intended to be short and to the point. Please don't go heavily past the word count limits, as the idea is to give people who you might ICC with a chance to briefly skim over the essentials of your character. Players can only enter only one application, but can make (and post) as many as they'd like. The first one you post is considered your entry, unless you CLEARLY mark otherwise.

Halcyon City: 1927
The City of Possibility
The City of Possibility
Halcyon City has been the center for superhuman activity since powers started appearing at the turn of the century. Villains and heroes are largely unregulated, as the resources necessary to combat and contain them are more expensive than is reasonable. Instead, there are the Unspoken Rules:
• What happens behind the mask doesn't affect life when it comes off.
• Don't kill unless absolutely necessary.
• Don't start shit on neutral territory.
These rules are accepted and enforced by pretty much every part of the masked community in an unofficial capacity. Even if the cops nab a supervillain, they don't reveal their secret identity to the public. Doing so would cause major backlash from the masks.
In Halcyon City there are two major factions. The Prospero Crime Family and The Workers' Union League.
The former is a mob style organized crime ring with a number of powerful superhumans, most of whom have a nickname but tend not to wear masks since the family will protect them.
The latter is a union of superpowers individuals who lobby for rights and wages from the city government in exchange for following the laws more closely. Professional heroes, so to speak.
