Seth Viper hated cities.

Well, he didn't hate cities per-se, the concept was absolutely logical and he understood the idea behind them. The large hives of granite, steel and glass had no reason to deserve his ire. It was what they represented that was the problem. All the damned life. The bloated, self-absorbed pieces of filth calling themselves individuals gathering into large, reeking clusters that only continued to poison and destroy itself, or invent tools to make said self destruction easier. More convenient.

It made him sick in his stomach just looking at it all.

The ancient spirit, currently in the guise of a serpentine black-haired young man was therefore walking along the sidewalk with a noticeable sour expression. It was all going to burn, oh yes it was. When he was done this damnable cluster was going to be reduced to nothing but dust. The roads would crack and shatter, the buildings would collapse and Seth would personally execute any of the germ-ridden imbeciles that thought they had anything to say about it all.

But first, he had to get rid of the failsafe. He could feel it in his body. Ticking. Almost crawling with its presence, making him think of a parasite. A worm digging through his body and making him follow its will. Actually, that was a good word for the girl that put it there. Worm. Pest. A worthless waste of space that Seth would crush under his shoe once he was free. He was going to gut her open and coat himself in the blood of the parasite that thought it could control-

No, no. Easy. He couldn't afford to lose self control in the middle of the city. Even if his hands had balled into fists at the mere thought of the little brat, an arrest would not make his life easier right now. He had to keep his temper down for the time being. That girl was the reason he was here in the first place after all, to be given a task. An assignment for one of her plans. As if he had been reduced to some lowly errand boy.

Seth turned into an alleyway and opened a door to the arranged meeting spot. God he couldn't wait until he was able to feel that slender little neck turn into powder beneath his fingers.

Always one to flaunt her power, Alice's arranged meeting place was nothing less then the tallest skyscraper in the entire city. Owned by one of the many business tycoons under command the building was an impressive monolith, looming over the city like a terrible giant, bathing the ground below in shadow. Of course, most of the building was used for legitimate business, but beneath the skyscraper, deep underground was an extensive Specter base that served as Alice's HQ while on the Island.

To get to the place, though, one needed to be "in the know" so to speak. A hidden elevator shaft was the way to get down to the base, and being a member of Specter Seth knew just how to find it. The elevator was a very high-tech affair, having a sleek modern aesthetic. With a push of a button Seth was able to enter the elevator. Down, deeper and deeper into the base the elevator went, passing secure level after secure level. Finally, after a good few minutes a digital ding sounded and Seth had reached his destination.

Of course, Alice had spared no expense creating her private meeting room. Made just as much to intimidate as to impress it was so deep beneath the ground that it had been built next to a vein of magma. It was a circular chamber, the entirety of the walls being made of some unidentifiable see-through material that revealed flowing magma on all sides of the chamber except the one Seth entered through. The whole chamber had a sleek, modern, high-tech look about it; everything was colored black or dark silver, with both the long meeting table and chairs places around it having a modernistic design. The place was dimly lit, too, the magma providing enough of a natural glow to diminish the need for lots of lighting.

At the head of the table, in the largest chair Alice sat happily playing a handheld videogame, kicking her legs back and forth. When Seth entered she immediately ceased her gaming and turned her chair around to face the entrance of the chamber. "So, my little pet is here. Please, have a seat. We have a lot to discuss." Alice said to Seth.

Seth humoured his "master"'s choice of decoration with a few small glances, his hands tucked into his pockets. While his posture and movement did imply nonchalance, they never once hinted at laziness or unfitness. Over the months of inhabiting it, Seth had mastered his steel-and-plastic body to radiate the exact kind of image he wanted it to. Confidence and independence, but never any hints that implied him to be a slacker of any kind. If you wanted to use these creatures, you might as well be visually pleasing to them, right? Made everything so much easier.

He had to admit though. This wasn't a bad base Alice had put together. It certainly got the message across and the sheer numbers invested in this project must have been staggering. She was a very powerful girl, for all it was worth.

And then she spoke up and any praise he had for the speck of dirt instantly vanished. Pet? Him? The little worm had the guts to speak to him that way? He had been impressed by her building, which had temporarily soothed the despise of the girl within him for a few moments, but with six little words she had once again lit it like a bonfire. Oh how he would love to take the knife he always kept in a holster under his jacket and jab it in, just to twist and twist and twist and twist...

But alas he had to keep those impulses to himself. He could not act out on them, no matter how much he wanted to. This body was as much a curse to him as it was a blessing, so he just had to keep quiet and play along with the little brat's game for now.

Thus, he walked forward, dragged out a chair and sat down. "Not the choice of words I would've picked, but alright. What could I be so delighted to do for you today, miss?"

His smirk was there, but the sarcasm lied heavily in his voice and the previously mentioned bonfire danced in his eyes. He could not act out on his opinions of the girl, but he could sure as all hell make them clear.

Subtle hatred or not, Alice had Seth just where she wanted him. So he complained about her choice of words. So what. He could not act on them anyway and Alice delighted in knowing that. She loved how this all powerful, ancient spirit was nothing more then her little dog. He could not and will not disobey, no matter how much he wants to, and Alice's "choice of words" showed just how much she loved being the one holding Seth's leash. "You don't like my choice of words? I'm so hurt, I thought you where a good little doggy that loved his mistress. No matter, we're here for business so lets get down do it." Alice said to Seth.

"Inaba, power on." Alice called out and with those words a series of floating, paper-thin hologram-like windows appeared before her. Using her fingers she delicately moved through files on the windows until she finally came to what she was looking for.Opening the file, the image of a young girl that looked about 19 years old appeared as a three dimensional hologram at the center of the meeting table, positioned in a way that Seth could get a clear look at.

"This, Seth, is your target. Lady Miller. A college student at Starlight Academy. I've been there for a bit, trying to gather information and people, and I found out about this girl's powers through a bit of hacking and good old fashion spy work...through drone, of course. She seems harmless and that's because for the most part, she is. Lady here has powers that are useless to her in combat....but highly useful for me. She can enhance and expand the powers of other, and I want to have that ability for myself. My scientists should be able to replicate it once she's in our hands but the issue is getting a hold of her. That, Seth, is where you come in." Alice said to her minion.

" I need you to kidnap Lady and bring her to this base for experimentation; you should know where the labs are. Your free to use as much violence as you like and I don't care if people die as a result. All that matters is that you get Lady to me alive and in good enough conditions where she'll be able to endure research by my scientists. Also, don't announce to anybody that your working on behalf of Specter. The last thing we need is some doo-gooders chasing us down. Thus, while on this mission you are a rogue criminal with your own agenda. Specter dosen't exist to you until you come to deliver the girl to my scientists, got that?" Alice continued.

Alice's words only served to enrage the apparent man further, but he made no bigger sign of it than the obvious flames in his eyes only growing and roaring with newfound power (He knew body language well, but there were no instincts or impulses in his artificial body that made him show what he was thinking if he did not want to). This little brat had not even been alive for a percentage of the time Seth had spent on Earth, yet she had the nerve, the audacity, to speak to him with anything but stammering signs of fear or respect. Acting as if she was superior to him. He was going to twist her limbs from her body one by one, he was...

He once again quieted the swirling pit of rage within him to concentrate on the task at hand. As much as he loathed it, he had to do what he was told after all. A young girl. Dark hair, pale skin. Looked quite frail. He had to keep that in mind so he did not... Break her by accident. The ability to enhance powers was intriguing, he had to admit and he absolutely understood why Alice wanted this girl.

Seth leaned back, actually grinning now. If there was one thing that made his position here tolerable, it was the seven words "Use as much violence as you wish". If she just spoke to him with the respect a being of his calibre deserved and gave him more missions like that, he would maybe even enjoy doing his share of work for Specter.

"Understood, mistress." He replied. The respect in his voice was forced by the body, but the serpentine grin was all too voluntary. "It will be done before you even know I left."
